The Deceiver is probably one of the worlds most famous saltwater flies, developed by the master fly caster, fly tier and writer, Lefty Kreh who died just a week ago. Lefty was a great inspiration for me and thousands of other fly fishermen. The Lefty's Deceiver works equally well for freshwater predators of any species.

Nice version of Lefty’s Deceiver , I find them to be a very versatile fly for both salt and fresh water depending on color combinations. The one thing I have changed is I have gone to lime green flashabou to replace the peacock herl . Much more durable. The thing I really like is how this pattern swims so naturally . Happy Trails

Thanks for your feedback, Mike. You are right: The peacock herls are fragile. The flashabou is a fine substitute. Cheers, Michael :0)

@MichaelJensensAngling
@MichaelJensensAngling 2 года назад
Raffael, I use cock saddle feathers, but chicken would work just fine. Cheers, Michael :0)

Whats the knot you use to finish the fly? Also do you have a video for it? Good video, thank you.
@MichaelJensensAngling

Hi and thanks. The knot is called a whip finish. I haven't done a video on that... yet ;0) You can search for Whip Finish by hand, and some will show up. Tight lines, Michael :0)

Hi. They are saddle hackle, some of them generic. Cheers, Michael :0)

I don't usually see the peacock herl on the back, but I like how it looks. Do you find that it's durable? I think I'll include some on my next round of deceivers.

Hi Brian, I always include the peacock herl, since they were part of Lefty's original dressing. I find them appealing - even though they aren't durable. Cheers, Michael :0)

Nice job! What is the names of the hackles you’re using?
@MichaelJensensAngling
@MichaelJensensAngling 5 лет назад
Thanks a lot. The hackles are Keough. Dry fly neck hackles in natural grizzly and cock saddle feathers for the dyed chartreuse feathers :0)
