I had to deal with some similar large footings once. I lucked out and the county had a Cat 385 excavator on a road job nearby. The operator was a guy I went to school with so he came over on his lunch break one day and took care of it with the big rock hammer on it. Unbelievable how hard the hammer hit with that giant machine.

Whats the phase, don't force it, just get a bigger hammer. I sometimes wonder if you guys understand that you may not make all the grain in the needs of this country but its guys like you who contribute the many hours of monotonous hard work and never give up. I see a huge change from the two young boys who restored a old truck and made it nice so that who ever got to drive it was happy to be steering it down the road. Now older, its making things last, repairing things that need it most. Its like you hit reality head on and its no longer fun to build something. It is either you need it or its not necessary for now. Kinda miss the two young boys who had dreams

The concrete slabs are probably 20' deep. They are called inertia blocks. Looks like you had a three compressor set up. Three blocks. The engine and compressors were so heavy the crankshaft which is about 12' long would deflect if the aliment was off and destroy it's self. After we set up an engine we would take a dial indicator and measure the deflection at the crankshaft counter wieghts. When you achieved zero you knew the engine was square and level. That's how they ran for five years straight and never shut down. I worked on a Ingersoll Rand engine/compressor that was a vertical six cylinder engine and a horizontal six cylinder compressor. What a massive machine, some 30' tall and 30' wide and 50' long. The main bearings where like 3-4 ft wide. What a monster. Its top speed was about 200 rpms.

@azraelspectre9089
@azraelspectre9089 2 года назад
@@stevenstart8728 oil pipeline stuff. It pushed the oil/gas down the line. Boost stations every 20 miles or so. Depending on the elevation. The blocks were so big to absorb the vibration from the massive engines.
@azraelspectre9089
@azraelspectre9089 2 года назад
Usually three compressors or more. Each one was a stage that boosted the line pressure.. I've seen as many as six on one site. Look up Walkesha VHP engines or Ingersoll Rand engines.

@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob I'm the same mechanic that suggested you hold the fuel lever or pedal to WFO whenever you start an old Diesel. Like the buds or the international semi. But Nooooo you would rather wear out the starter and stress the charging system. Yea my time to chew you abit. I want to see you jump in a bud or semi and stomp it to the WFO fuel stop and start it. Don't worry it won't run away. You just need to stress this old iron as little as possible. God bless you guys. I hope you get plenty of rain this summer IN JESUS' NAME!!!

Dynamite comes to mind. Back in the seventies you could rider a case of gelignite from the local co-op and fuses and pickup up detractors yourself and do what you needed to do. Stumps out of the ground, post holes took 1/4 stick, concrete alterations etc. We blew apart a HD 7 dozer so we could scrap it in pieces. Health and safety stopped all the fun and in the process removed a valuable tool. Nothing like watching a charge do its work. My Dad got his training in the army down here in NZ.
