A lot of people underestimate how much it hurts to throw a leg kick if you haven't conditioned. My instructor let me practice on his leg, and I remember the feeling of my shin trying to wrap around his thigh. It takes some conditioning. And to throw them with full power and without fear of contacting their shin or knee, That takes years of conditioning.

It didn’t take long for me, I think if you give someone a soft surface to hit a lot, like a rolled up carpet or heavy bag and a hard surface like some plastic wall or something then you can do it in no time. Took me 2 months of kicking stuff to condition my shins, so it doesn’t take too long.

You develope tolerance but adrenalin in fights makes you not feel the pain at the same level as if u just take one. I don’t really feel shit under a fight but after the fight i feel it. Rather take a 100 percent kick in a fight than take a 30 percent kick from my coach for demonstration

I traded leg kicks with my friend who trains Muay Thai 5+ years. I’m a soccer player so after a few drinks I agreed to this. His leg was solidly bruised for 2 weeks and mine wasn’t bruised but I felt like I had been shot. Could barely make it up the stairs to my apartment for a week

It’s a long story but I got a bone bruise on my femur waterskiing. They hurt and heal slow. I could not walk for a week and was jacked up for probably 3 weeks. Visibly bruised for a month. I married my ice pack we spent so much time together.

Leg kicks are no joke. A buddy of mine and I used to spar. Just boxing with some gloves. He knew I could kick(10 years taekwondo training) and said go ahead and throw some kicks. Just none to the head. First leg kick lands and he was like “good one” . Then the second lands and he does the hit his gloves together and compose himself deep breath. The third time I threw it I put my hip into it and made it made a loud thud. “okay, you can’t do that anymore” he limped for a like two weeks. Every time after that he scored leg kicks differently when watching fights.
