Colonel Brian Adams (Ret) SM, OCB, B.Econ (Stel), EP(SA) speaks to us about his 22 years in the South African Army (SADF). During his distinguished career, he became the Officer Commanding of Group 10, the Armed Forces Attaché Taipei (ROC), and Commander of 201/31 (the Bushman Battalion).

Lovely chat guys !! .... remember doing a camp with 31Bn as signaler late 70s or early 80s & recall the OC then being a Colonel Charlie Hoffel or Hoefal or something to that effect ( apologies ! ) don't recall 100% Brian did not say the years he was there .... but 2 of us & a NSM corperal ended up at some place near the army gardens ( beginging of Caprivi strip / Botwana rd) to dismantle & take down a camp there. There was also a rural airstrip nearby that was used by SAAF on occasion. Thank you it brought back some fond memories ! 👍

I remember the Bushmen Bn providing the guard of honour at WO1 "Bles" Otto's funeral in Durban. This was a tragic and sad day for all concerned. Rest-in-Peace RSM.

This is why I love this podcast. Stories from the heart. So true about PowerPoint. In my corporate years we used to joke about sitting in conferences and suffering with" death by powerpoint" and yet listening to your dad's or oupas stories from yesteryear will remain with you for ever. I am very jntrigued by the situation where "an 18yo instructor has to train a 40yo bushman in tracking". That sounds like a fascinating movie scene... :-)
