Pod and twin go well together and having big things isn't out of the question so I was actually suprised when he said it was a terrible deck. Came together a bit oddly but worked out
R1 opponent had a disgusting deck with answers to everything and disgusting luck (t2 remand all 3 games, miscalc something relevant all 3 games), and still lost. Unbelievable.
This is why watching a skilled player like LSV play jank is way more fun to watch than a deck where you just build a strong deck - the latter gets old quick and this is priceless.
Mono Red seemed super open, pack one seeing Pia and Karen, wheeling Koth and then seeing two good one drops after, idk just seems like a whiff not jumping on that
Every time LSV drafts some midrange cube deck and says it's really bad he does well. I'm pretty sure he just way undervalues decks that aren't blue, monored, or monogreen.
I agree, he definitely undervalues midrange decks in legacy cube. They're certainly awful in vintage cube but legacy cube is a different beast: there's lots of people playing aggro and a good midrange deck just completely destroys them. This deck had the prime speaker vannifar package in this deck was legitimately pretty great, natural order into Atarka or Hornet queen is powerful, shelldeck isle is always great, a decent land disruption package, and it even had a backdoor OTK with splinter twin (and vannifar/eternal witness to help assemble it). I wouldn't say the deck is great or anything, but it definitely wasn't as awful as LSV made it sound. I think part of that is because it didn't have a focused plan, it was a weird mish-mash of a few different plans. Sometimes it's nice to have that flexibility though.
I can't believe I'm the first one posting this, which makes me think I'm wrong, but couldn't you pay two more at 18:22? I don't know if you would want to but shouldn't it at least be considered?
@@CarterDeLeo I understand he'd have to sacrifice the Devoted Druid, and maybe it wouldn't have been worth it but I was wondering if it was even considered.
@@nitzillaproductionstheanyt7929 That's not an option. Activating the Devoted Druid's ability again when it already has a counter will lead to it dying to state based effects before it ever untaps.
This draft is my exact experience cube drafting, like 85% of the time. All over the place. Nothing is open. Stuck with Black/white color cards that do nothing.
This man trophies with a pile of trash duct taped together and i can't even get my 800 dollar mana base to work for me. Just goes to show the skill level of LSV.
