I got the paddle last week. I did not miss a drop in 4 games . Occasional I would do a 3rd shot drive and it had pop. Resets were very comfortable . My returns were deep without trying - loved the paddle so far .
I have not had a good experience with Legacy. I paid for a paddle and had to wait months after delivery times kept changing. After only 3 months of use the sweet spot became crushed inside making contact with ball undesirable. I had to pay the postage for replacement. I notice they have now changed their warranty from 6 months to only 4. I sold the replacement to someone older who plays indoors because I don't trust their paddle to hold up with competitive play.
Definitely doesn't sound like the best experience! Unfortunately, many pickleball paddles have a short lifespan if you play daily. Hopefully, that will change soon. What paddle do you use now?
Similar experiences here with myself and a few colleagues. Several paddles had to be returned because of simple issues like edge guards coming undone in the first weeks of play. Too much back and forth which in the end erodes your trust in the product. Most players affected have returned the product, replaced it and sold it while moving to competitor products which are holding up better. Most of us wanted to be loyal, but time and money are determining factors.
I have also had a bad experience with Legacy. Initial paddle was great for 2-3 weeks, then spin diminished and after 2 months, delamination or whatever caused inconsistent play. To Legacy's credit, they provided a replacement, but replacement was not as good a paddle as initial in spin, and then failed after a few months play as well. I contacted Chris at Legacy by email with all the info about failed replacement paddle and he said return it under warranty which I did, and then last week he called me and said my combined warranty is up. He counted 3 months of initial paddle, plus 3 months of replacement paddle and that made up 6 months warranty, including the approx. one month I was without any Legacy paddle waiting for initial replacement to come. I think that warranty policy is unclear in their website representation when I purchased the paddle last January. Paddle buyer beware when dealing with Legacy for it looks like their warranty does not restart if they issue a replacement due to warranty, and they count the time you are waiting for a replacement in your warranty period.
@@RodgerRicks Regardless of the paddle, a manufacturer should begin counting their warranty period as of the shipping date (at the very least). If a new paddle has to be issued due to poor manufacturing, etc, then it should re-start when the replacement paddle is sent out. Otherwise, you are not really providing the full intended warranty for each paddle. In the end, I think that the top manufacturers will rise to the top on their product AND customer service. A name on its own with poor customer service will eventually get around. The other thing that I think is well worth mentioning is that many pickleball players (those that are serious about spending money on equipment) will research a product and the associated manufacturer. Tools like RU-vid and many social media sites, allow individuals to research what others have experienced. That in itself is priceless - much like car reviews of owners, their experience with dealers, service, etc.
Terrible buying experience with Legacy !!! I bought two Legacy Pro paddles and they delivered one. It was a nightmare trying to resolve the short-ship issue with the owner. They finally delivered my second paddle after several months of delay. That's not the end; one of the two paddle delaminated after a week of playing. My advice is to do your research before buying. There are plenty of fine paddles companies out there with good customer service.
This guy just gives the same exact interview every time. He never answers the questions with anything specific. She asked what elements of construction are important to paddle manufacturing, and he goes on about how he wanted to make a paddle that a wide market of players could feel comfortable hitting. Give me a break. Did you actually do any original R&D, or did you actually just get lucky by being the first to market with one of the major Chinese OEMs new technologies? The way he talks around questions for ages makes me feel it's the latter.
Delamination has been a huge issue for legacy paddles. Company doesnt back their problem. I went another route with double black diamond. Will never buy another one!

Legacy Pickleball is a joke. I had a paddle that the edge guard was loose, and two weeks into using it, the core crushed. You could tell because of the sound and the ball launched off the paddle. Sent it in for warranty, and they said that they would issue a new paddle. Two months later…..nothing. Then when I tried to respond…..crickets.
I had the same issue but I got a response and a new paddle no questions. My edgeguard was just starting to come loose. I have never had a issue with them.
Same here although I don’t swing it harder than most. It’s got such great pop. Was scared of the power at first for resets but adjusted and grown to love it. It’s a great paddle
i really enjoyed this interview and found Chris to be forthright and honest concerning industry materials and wear expectancy..i bought my legacy pro for 3 reason..best carbon fiber(toray)..thermoforming..and price...i paid 150 if i remember with discount..yes i had to wait but it was worth the wait..why pay 300 $ for an inferior technology when u can buy better technolgy for half that..yes it has tremendous spin and pop and which is fun and advantageous for deeper serves and 3rd shot drops that dont come up short..i hope Legacy develops a slightly softer/control paddle because i also love the "soft" game...anyway thats my 2 cents--im still enjoying my legacy pro with no issues as others in our large group...for me its a great paddle for the price--i will never spend 300+ dollars for a paddle--like the saying goes--" its not the arrow--its the indian"..thks again for this interview
Paddles are simply a tool, but people spend WAY too much energy focusing on their paddles vs. simply improving their mechanics. Yes, some paddles will provide greater “assistance” than others, but I can think of a few pros who have their names on the brands highest level thermo paddles, and yet play with the brands gen 1 paddle….. And then there’s Ben Johns who was smoking people with Franklin’s…before playing with $250 Joola’s…. That said, I’m a high level player in tennis and pickleball. If I’m playing for some fun or have a specific strategy in mind, I may choose to play with a gen 1.5 that is super soft and controllable, vs. using a thermo 14mm that I have to play pretty hard and focused with. So my advice is sure, have a few of these different gen paddles to play with, but use them intentionally (based on your opponent or strategy or singles/doubles)…and don’t expect to magically play like a “superstar” because of a paddle.

I have paddles for spin and others for power and I need the assistance. However, I see 5.0+ players hitting amazing shots with cutting boards :)
As long as you have a couple of months to wait on getting the paddle go for it. I am done waiting and just buy other paddles that are the same for less and get within a week Legacy is old tech and not worth the wait.
The paddle market is very competitive with many clones available now. Customer service and QA will be most important to secure customers. There are too many options and few amateur players will be loyal to a specific brand if they fail to deliver the above.
Love my Legacy Pro…..played my first state Senior Games singles tournament and happy to report won 1st place for my age group…..my paddle did everything I asked of it. Interesting….only saw one other Legacy paddle during the tournament but that’s likely to change. For the price the performance is great. And yes, this thing has plenty of spin and pop.
Most thermoformed paddles have shown to be more powerful with the 16mm than the 14mm thicknesses, which is opposite to the normal carbon fiber gen 1 paddles. Why should the Legacy 14mm be different?
I loved my Legacy Pro so much I bought the Pro S too. The Pro S has a lower swing weight so it's my go to paddle for doubles and the Pro is used mostly for singles. I also make sure that the paddles stay out of the Florida heat. I live in South Florida where the tropical sun can do a job on a black surface like my asphalt driveway. I play almost every day and haven't had any quality issues with either paddle. I hit hard and with a lot of topspin and love to spin serves. I've played for six years and was strictly a PaddleTek user for the first five. Then I went to Selkirk with the Power Air S2 but wasn't happy with its short handle. I still occasionally use the S2 for practice but then I can't wait to get back to a Legacy.
Is the Pro S any better to dink with? I just came back from a practice session where I was comparing the Legacy pro with my 6.0 double black diamond and I remembered how much I had to drill to get good at dinking with the Legacy Pro. It's a small difference but the DBD is easier to dink with being a regular shape paddle with a slightly softer face. It doesn't have the power and spin of the L Pro even after adding weight. Just wondering if the Legacy Pro S would sit somewhere in the middle. How much does it suffer for power? @@stephenchavkin8082
Both of my Legacies I'd consider power paddles and the ball goes where I want it to. I've been playing since 2017 and these have been my favorites. I replaced my Selkirk Power Air S2 with the Pro in April and have been happy ever since.
