Ownership to property or an asset can be split into two categories - legal and/or equitable title.
Legal title refers to legal ownership which comes with the right to lawfully control or own the property.
Equitable title on the other hand gives a person the right to enjoy the benefits that come with the ownership of a property despite them not having legal title.
