Please, if I notarize my documents, is there still a need for authentication and legalization? Put differently, is notarization of documents "equivalent" of authentication and legalization? Declaration of Value (DOV) is usually given on request during legalisation at the embassy. Legalisation is done at the embassy while visa application is done at TLS, so you have to book different appointments.

Based on last year's experience of students, the embassy asked from some, didn't request from others. so it depends on the official that checks your docs. Thank you so much Ayo for sharing this extremely educative video. Please I need your help in clarifying some of my doubts. First, I submitted my pre-enrolment form to the University of Verona on April 24, 2020 but I didn't get feedback from the University on time. I however, wrote to the University three days ago to enquire about the situation of my pre-enrolment. I thereafter, got a reply the next day that my pre-enrolment had just been validated. My question now is, "are they not supposed to send me an official letter with my details stating that my pre-enrolment has been validated?". Secondly, how can I get my pre-enrolment form since it had already been submitted on univeritaly portal. I will really appreciate your help and guidance.

Nope, not all schools do. You have to keep checking your universitaly profile. You can download your pre-enrolment form on the Universitaly page.... Just click on summary and download It.

I think both... but what I am sure of is you need to authenticate your foreign degree in the foreign country... so make sure to authenticate your degree from Togo in Togo.

@pearl It is not too late to start application now. Admissions are still ongoing. so you have nothing to worry about and study visa application would not start until around July (I think). So there is still time. Gain admission first

Thank you Ayo for your time. please help to clarify as below: the legalized documents, what are they for, at what point are they needed? is it for visa application or DOV? Going by italian website, in the document list for visa, no school certificate and its legalization is mentioned. Going by Tlscontact website, the education background required is specific to SSCE and its legalization. Also, some universities will give option of "DOV" or "statement of comparability" for final enrolment upon arrival in Italy. Is legalization for the request of DOV and also for visa? if for visa also, why is it not in document list for visa in the italian website? considering the time and process for legalization, one may avoid it if not required for visa, and choose to get " statement of comparability" for final enrolment to save time. That's is the need to have a better understanding of the purpose of legalization. please help to clarify, thanks.

Statement of comparability can be used instead of going for DOV.... So you can replace going to the embassy for legalization with CIMEA. It might be a relatively faster option compared to legalisation however, it's way more expensive.
