i love how supportive Elle's sororiety sisters are. Even though they dont really understand what Elle is trying to achieve, they still helped her, supported her, kept her focus, even helping her study. Those are real friends
@@Chuuzus great catch - blondes and brunettes are always enemies in older movies. try googIing why - the explanation is in mlsogyny. jackie vs marilyn - literally. this movie subverts it. If you want other movies that subvert the blonde vs brunette enemies - watch "Bring it on" from 2000 and "Stick it" from 2006
im sorry, but breaking up with someone in public at a restaurant BEFORE the food comes is so evil to me😭like if you're gonna break my heart, can I at least eat first. I don't understand why people break up in such a public place😭
Warner: "YOU got into Harvard?!" Elle: "What, like it's hard?" Elle Woods was my role model as a kid. She showed me that it's possible to be intelligent AND pretty, you don't have to choose between them.
“Vote for Elle!” Might be my favorite line from this movie. It’s so funny and shows how her friends might not completely understand what she’s doing here but they’re going to support her no matter what.
What I love about Elle is that instead of bitching and moaning and crying to her rich daddy about how nobody takes her seriously, instead she lets it motivate her to work harder to achieve her goals.
When I watched this movie, I was failing law class so badly. This movie gave me some serious motivation and guess who bagged her law degree? Yes me!! Elle woods is forever iconic.
@Withenyoa so happy for you. for me, Elle is, above all, kind. she doesn't care who is rich or poor, fashionable or not interested in fashion, she's kind to everybody
as much as i LOVE the scene with Emmett exposing Enrique, it also confused me as to why Chuck (the boyfriend) was okay with him telling the court that he had an affair with Brooke, but when Enrique calls Chuck a friend he goes ballistic😭
i've watched this movie so many times and it STILLS impacts me🤭this movie really taught me that you can be strong and powerful AND be feminine. also that you don't have to knock others down to pick yourself up
You're so right about Elle being Barbie-coded. I think Margo Robbie wasn't a good casting choice for Barbie because if she isn't smiling, she looks like she could kill you, which is badass, but I just don't think Barbie would look so intimidating so easily. Plus, her eyebrows and roots make it look like she isn't a natural blonde. I was trying to picture who I would cast as Barbie if I could, and I realized my ideal pick for Barbie would be 2001 Reese Witherspoon.
8:58 it really is Barbie, not only for her wearing pink but also her almost acing her LSATs (one point away) and just being the perfect girl living the perfect day every day. But I can’t agree with the statement that LB walked so Barbie can run knowing fully well that Barbie and the 12 princesses is an iconic movie. Chuu, can you react to the second Legally Blonde and the “spin-off” Legally Blondes
Reese made Elle into an instant icon, such an amazing feel-good movie! And really good cast as well, so many recognizable faces. If you're interested, there's a Legally Blonde musical that actually aired live on MTV that's available to watch in full on RU-vid, it's really really good. Don't know what you have and haven't seen (do you have a Letterboxd?), but 13 Going On 30, Uptown Girls, and Miss Congeniality are also really fantastic comedies similar to this movie and would be fun to watch before Barbie.
I watched this movie all of the time as a kid and it made me want to be like Elle; now I have plans for law school in the next couple of years. She is such an inspiration of a smart woman who manages to slay while doing it!
This film really was a major culture milestone. In the 90s/00s, hyper-femininity was nearly only seen in dumb or mean characters. Female protagonists were so often tomboys or "not like other girls." Legally Blonde is a defense of femininity and the idea that you can be girlie but also be smart, kind, and serious. While it's not necessarily the message of Barbie, that movie relies on that fundamental truth to deliver their other messages. Legally Blonde is like Barbie's cultural ancestor.
lawyers like Callahan don't have my respect. Like he thought that Brooke was completely guilty of killing her husband, but he was willing to get her off the hook for a paycheck. He's just slimy
That unfortunately is the reality, there are cases when one of the parties are unable to pay for a lawyer of their own, so a lawyer must come in and defend them regardless of whether or not they're innocent. Further more, people gotta eat and lawyers are hired, it's very rare that a lawyer chooses who they represent
this movie will FOREVER be iconic.🥰💕 its kind of a shame that we don't have more movies and shows like this. Like this movie came out BEFORE I WAS EVEN BORN, and yet since then, there has only been a few movies and shows that have empowered women as much as this movie has😭
This is making me want to watch this movie again. Elle Woods is such an icon. This is Elle's world and everyone else is just living in it. And I love that at the end of the movie Elle and Vivian are actually friends now and Warner got nothing.
Watching this movie for the first time a year ago, I thought the same as you! I loved how Elle didn't let anybody bring her down, she kept being herself, she did not change her personality or herself to achieve anything regardless of people's prejudices about her "looks".
if you're a fan of musicals, you would LOVE the legally blonde musical i think. There was also a reality series on mtv for it. Doesn't have to be a reaction, I just think you would like it! as far as recommendations if you haven't seen ferris beuler's day off, I recommend it! One of my favs!
I spent one year at a top 25 law school and the thing that makes me laugh the most is Elle just showing up in class 😂 You have at least 300 pages of reading and homework due on day 1.
It happened my first day of Torts to some poor soul in the back. He was waiting for his new laptop to come in, and our prof was kind enough to compile a free virtual casebook for us so we didn’t have to buy one. The secondhand embarrassment was intense.
Legally Blonde is ICONIC! I can't believe you have never watched it until now. I was just sitting here practically quoting every line. I knew you would LIVE for this movie. I loved your reaction, boo!
I'm honestly shocked you hadn't seen this before, it's so iconic! It had me wondering if you've ever seen Freeway? Reese's early roles were kinda wild before she became the romcom queen. Definitely check that out if you haven't!
apparently, a possible movie ending was with Elle and Vivian getting together, but some of the writers have denied that so im not sure if its true or not
my comfort movie! 💖 I don't know how I missed the upload notification on your channel, but it's a great surprise. And I already can tell I'm going to rewatch this many times
I HAD SO MUCH FUN WATCHING THIS W YOU!! reaaallly needed some motivation rn and didnt have time to rewatch the entire movie so this was such a great time
I saw Barbie last night and i’m ready to see it again!!! i’m so hyped over that movie. it’s truly too good cannot wait for your reaction when it comes out!!🩷🩷
I feel like the movie Life Size with Lindsay Lohan and Tyra Banks walked so that Barbie could run. Ugh my childhood 😭 Chuuzus please watch it for the Barbie vibes its iconic ❤
3:18 yes that's Cassie's Mom from Euphoria aka Alanna Ubach!! She's insanely talented, has a great singing voice (she was mama imelda in Coco) and has great comedic timing. She's very underrated imo!
Omggg Chuu!! This is one of my fave romcoms and I'm so excited you did it - loving this new era of watching fun genres for you! Also if you need a recommendation for a similar movie: I LOVE 10 Things I Hate About You - its my all time favourite
Chu! I just discovered your reaction channel and now I'm binging your videos. ❤ You are such a breath of fresh air, I love you already!! Great movie reactions, even greater personality. I'm glad I found you!
They got the law school experience pretty well correct. The scary professors (in fact, the blonde lady professor was based on Elizabeth Warren, who compiled the bankruptcy supplement I used.) The Socratic method. The first years using jargon randomly to confuse laypeople. Only thing they got wrong is that internship would be for the summer, because they need to be focusing on their classes in first year. Those grades matter a lot. Oh, and Elle engaged in the unauthorized practice of law when getting the dog back. Elle’s cross examination is used in trial advocacy classes to show how to use leading questions effectively.
At first the idea of even giving this movie the time of day never came crossed my mind until I watched a few years ago and I love absolutely loved this movie
I don’t remember if the second one was any good (so it probably wasn’t) but you should watch Sweet Home Alabama with our girl Reese! You would love it! I’m tuning in to your reaction either way Chu😘
I didn't know you haven't watched this before!! Awww I love this movie so much, I knew you'd love it I love your reactions 😆🥰💛 BTW, I also used pink and sented cv after seeing from Elle 🙃😍 I also wish I have had a sisterhood like Elle, I love that too.
RU-vid algorithim suggested your video to me and thank goodness because I am in love with you!! Only 13 minutes in and I am laughing and snapping along with you like you're my bestie 😂 Happy new subscriber here!!
I'd love a reaction to the sequel. This reaction was sooo fun! I love this movie and you were so right about this being such a Barbie-coded movie/character. Elle really is the loveliest person. You can't help but root for her and want to see her happy and successful. Warner really didn't deserve her and I'm glad she figured that out long before the movie ended and spent the rest of the movie simply finding herself on her new path.
A Jackie is a reference to America president JFK’s wife Jackie O and the reference to Marilyn is about Marilyn Monroe, the iconic sex symbol. (There’s a rumor that JFK had an affair with Marilyn) lowkey everyone knows the tea hehe
A lesser movie would have had Elle ditch her love of fashion and all things pink to show her "growth" as a law student and career woman. Always loved that this movie never changed that aspect of her. You CAN love frilly, girly things AND be a professional.
I have just subscribe to your channel. As you seem like such a lovely person. This film made me cry as a kid and your review made me cry again. Because you seem to love her as much as I did. I’m still do. She is a pure fashion icon of mine your review tells me you are a very emotionally, intelligent man. And I now think I’m going to binge watch your videos. As I’ve been looking for a nice channel to watch.
