June Carter who wrote this song is describing how she felt when she first saw Johnny Cash perform. She fell for him but she was already married. The ring of fire was the forbidden love she entered into. June would later marry Johnny in early 1969. They stayed together right up until their deaths, four months apart in 2003.

@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 2 года назад
June Carter wrote 'Ring of fire' around 1963 (Conflicting accounts said Johnny Cash actually wrote it and gave June credit, but it was first recorded by June's sister Anita Carter. So it was more than likely June Carter's song). The situation of falling in love was apparently not a good one for June Carter in 1963... she had been twice married and was a single mom and a traveling musician... and she was falling in love w/ Johnny Cash, who was married w/ kids at the time. So, being a southern woman from a conservative country background, falling in love w/ a married man was equivalent to hellfire... and she felt like she was burning... And Johnny Cash at the time was a hardcore drug addict; he would be strung out on pills & booze... he could be unpredictable and erratic onstage... and June Carter saw this firsthand. She had met Johnny Cash years ago when he was just starting out, and she became a frequent collaborator on his records & tours... June knew what he was like before, and what he was becoming. And she didn't know how to deal w/ the situation - being in love w/ a married man and seeing him deteriorate from his addictions must have felt like hellfire for real... She also knew that Johnny Cash had a thing for her. However, Johnny Cash liked the song... he recorded it in 1963 and it became a huge hit for him. It was his idea to add the Mexican horns. By 1968, Johnny Cash and his first wife were separated... he and June were playing in the same band, and he finally proposed to her at his concert, and after rejecting his offers to marry her, she finally said 'yes'... Johnny Cash & June Carter married that year and had a son - John Carter Cash. Despite Cash's drug problems, June always stayed and helped him get clean, and they spent many years touring together... They were married until June passed away in 2003. Johnny Cash died 3 months after her...

Johnny Cash is an artist that cover's all ages and genre. His music and lyrics are so profound. Johnny Cash leaves a lasting impression. nobody like Johnny Cash. a true rebel who spoke to the man who was down on his look and the underdog.. not one for the brighter things in life..just like his single "The man in Black" he represented as in the song the beaten down and the poor living on another side of the town... the forgotten people, just like when he went into San Quentin and played songs for the inmates, ...brilliant words and so profound .."San Quentin i hate every inch of you" you can feel the anger and resentment resonate in Cash's voice acting as a barometer for what the inmates must of felt, their dignity and freedom taken away. "You'll never see bright colours on my back" Johnny Cash was one of them, he was with them, he understood them, he understood when you had been wronged or down on your luck...just like Roy Orbison was for the heartbroken. No surprise that the two were very good friends and neighbours, having both suffered terrible personal tragedy...

I've always thought this song kind of shows Johnny was also the first goth act. "The Man in Black", the lyrics of this song...it's just a drum machine and synthesizer away from something you'd hear from a Projekt or Nettwerk artist in the 80s/90s. Regardless, you have got to love Johnny Cash. Such an iconic voice and sound. It's crazy to me that we're coming up on 20 years since his and June's passing. Fire can be bad and good. It can give warmth and light. Yet if unattended it can get out of control quickly! I think this was his meaning. Comparing fire to love. And boy is he in it! He is in love "a firey ring". Also meaning being married tring to find the warmth and light. Without it getting out of hand.

This is a cover, of a June Carter Cash song, so you know. She was June Carter, and making music. She's the one falling, in the song, and he felt this, as well. They got married, and, I believe, it was before this version was recorded. People sing Country, and Western music, primarily, in Nashville. This is an example, of a Southwestern style, with Mariachi influence. Johnny Cash does a spoken word poem, "Hell, In Texas", also.

If I remember correctly, Cash said that horn section came to him in a dream. Really makes it seem like some songs exist in the ether, just waiting to be written, performed, and recorded.

I think he was saying he was in a hot relationship a wild relationship but the deeper he got into the relationship the more dangerous it was for himself the more bad things happened it's like one of those relationships where it's wild and filled with drama but you're still really in love

You guys listened to his cover of "Hurt" for God sake. And "a boy named sue". Johnny Cash was his own genre. Even before the movie.

It looks like others have already commented about all the relevant stuff. I will say that we covered this and my Honky Tonk band for a while and it turns out to be trickier to learn than you would think because it has these extra bars inserted now and then unpredictably but that's what makes the song Famous. That feel. And so for that one I would swing my guitar down and pick up my trumpet and I would play the top trumpet line and since there wasn't another trumpet, are pedal steel player would play the lower trumpet line in harmony. And then I would sing backing vocals when I wasn't playing the trumpet. Once those guys finally figured out how to play the thing right, it was a real blast in the audience totally loved it. We would keep repeating ring of fire at the end and then suddenly shift into one of our own Honky Tonk songs at the same tempo and people would just keep dancing. And I'm not talking about a long time ago I'm talking about for about and years up through right before the pandemic. Audiences loved it even our rendition of it but our frontman did have that deep voice like Johnny Cash.

Johnny Cash was one of the original acts on Sun records along with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison who "invented rock and roll". Johnny Cash gets associated with country more because of his gravely voice I think but he was part of the beginning of Rock and Roll (or at least turning the blues into rock and roll for a white audience). I'd love to hear you react to some more country music. Check out "Seven Spanish Angels" by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles or "Pancho and Lefty", probably Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard's version.

Genres don’t matter to Johnny. He caught a lot of grief from the country music world for going outside their music, but he didn’t give a shit.
