My dad and I used to play this game, we have a guide(The ones that were books) and that's how we get to this boss only to be rekt for half an hour and him just saying fuck, it's a really good memory😂😂😂
Did you guys beat him in the end? Also high-five your dad on us for playing JRPGs with his kids. Not often you find someone who'll play all the way through one of those with their kids :P
There is 50 stardust in the entire game if i remember. Every time you got 10, there is a child in the former village of Haschel that gives you a gift. The final gift for collecting the 50 is the Vanishing Stone, that allows you to destroy Faust illusion in the Tower of Flanvel, so that you fight the real one.
Cyril's characters are wearing Legend Casques, which not only give a crapload of magic defense, but also give +50% magic evasion. That's why they're dodging the spells like crazy.
+IronTate7 Every time you hit Faust he counters with two attacks. A single target magic attack with the same element as the attacker followed by an all targets magic attack with the opposite element of attacker. Example... If you hit him with Dart, he'll counter Dart with a Burn Out , then follow that up with a Fatal Blizzard. It's a very tricky boss.
The ultimate additions aren't gained by levels. Instead, you get them when you level all other additions for that character up to level 5. (ie: 80 successful uses)
Wow i think ive watched all your videos and let me say you rule man i swear i am huge fan on this game and just when i thought i had done it all by beating it like 6 times you come up with this thanks man! I even got the disk's on my psp so i can play legend of dragoon any time i want! Thanks again i would honestly give a lung to get a remake of this for the ps3 or even playing as zieg in the dragon campaign would be nice thanks!
i absolutely loved this game..... seriously underrated. this was the only boss i never fought but i remember reading about him in the game in that Wingly city or something. one game i could have a remake/sequel for, it would be this one
Ahhh...so this is where that final boss got some of those special attacks, the ice pillars, the wind tunnel. Very nicely done by the way, I really doubt I'll ever find all 50 stardust though, if I'm lucky I'll get like...25 oh well, nice job dude.
My party of choice is Dart, Albert, and Miranda. Each one equipped with a Legend Casque. Dart has Magical Greaves and a Bandit's Ring (for Agility), as well as his Fairy Sword, Albert the Bandit's Shoes, Bandit's Ring, and Partisan. Miranda the Dancer's Shoes and Dancer's Ring, and her Arrow of Force. Albert and Miranda are most useful in terms of Dragoon form because Miranda can use Gates of Heaven as needed, and Albert with Rose Storm to cut all damage in half. The agility items equipped will cut down on the number of times Faust can attack in a row. Don't waste your time on attack magics of any kind. They won't do any good. They won't hit him or will barely scratch him. Even Psyche Bomb X is useless. I always go with the most powerful Additions, which will be their final ones. Power Down and Speed Down are useful, but cast them when his HP starts getting low.
***** Actually you don't really need Dragoon form against Faust, if you have the Legend Casque AND the DG Armors equipped, as well as the final additions, as shown in this video. Dart, for example, in this takes no damage from his fire counters, because he has the Red DG Armor on, not because of the Casque. So the best strategy is to use the characters that deal the highest damage, for which Albert's final addition is a good choice. I would choose Meru over Miranda though, because she has the highest Agility of any character, and Perky Step should deal more damage than Miranda's bow. Meru's DG Armor is also obtainable before this fight, while Miranda's isn't obtainable until the final dungeon. Psychebomb IS useful, why, because it gets rid of those 4 little things around him. Faust can cast a unique attack with them on the field, and it hits even through Legend Casque, as seen at 2:33-2:39 in the video. If the player is busy healing or throwing items, he will use this attack instead.
Melachromatic Are we talking about the same game? You cannot hurt the four things around him. They're not targets. I don't use Dragoon form with Dart. Just with Albert to cast Rose Storm and Miranda to use Moon Light and Gates of Heaven.
lol, after playing this game over and over for ten years, now i know that...thanks for letting me know. i always wondered why there was an extra slot under the additions list
i completely agree, even tho this game was way ahead of its time with its graphics, it woud still look even betr being remade today. This game was the first rpg i ever played and to this day it is still the best.
The fact that you get about a quarter per boss fight and a penny per regular battle just getting the money to buy the legend Casques is hard enough. They has 3 of them and deserves credit for getting them.
I wish you would remake this for PS4. I buy it instantly I beat the first now make a second such a great game. id just remake it in different graphics.
Attach Dancer's Shoes, Dragoon Helmet, Meru's best shoes (They give speed), the accessory that restores 10 percent life each round, and Meru becomes the best character in the game. Thanks to her, I managed to barely beat this boss.
For everyone to know, first you need all the stardust to get Vanishing Stone from Martel, then go to where you faught Llyord and trough many teleports till you find Faust. Normal Defense doesn't matter here, all that matters is your magic defense, you need to get it really high and get DG armours along with Legendary Casquets and those high adition attacks. He is weak to physical attacks and does a counter attack to your type of damage. Dont attack too much, have a mix of defending and attacking
I am playing on a computer. And i happen to use my very own game CD's. :P I use the ePSXe emulator to play the games, FRAPS to record, and VirtualDubMod to encode my videos.
@Innoruk I haven't played this game in years, but I always loved that spell. Because it warps the battle music as well. I've never been sure if they did that on purpose or not but either way, its great.
each time you collect 10 pieces and bring them to the lady, she gives you a gift like equipments.. once you collect them all (50), the last gift will be the vanishing stone, which you can use in the flanvel tower to make faust's ghost disappear and explore the secret part of the tower.. where you will fight faust
I really wish they would remake this game for the ps3. Not to change iot to much but to improve the graphics the fight scenes. This game was so unique with the addition combos, and the character depth, you didn't just feel a connection with the principle characters Dart,Sauna and Lambert/Albert but you also felt the connection with Kongol, Lloyd, and all the others. I honestly think that Sony can seriously cash in on a rebirth. Thumbs up if you agree. Lets see how many votes we can get
The idea is, Legend Casque on all members, and Dragoon Armor on all members. He always hits a character with their own element, so if you've got Dragoon Armor on, it always does 0 damage.
@xSurinach faust is actually more vulnerable to physical attacks and normal master additions do more damage than dragoon additions. There is almost no reason to turn into a dragoon in this battle (unless you're using miranda or meru for healing)
It wasn't until a few years ago I realized that Guard actually healed you in this and that the Elemental Weapons were still viable when you get them, I'd honestly take a port of this even it's just added Trophies and maybe some neat stuff like a soundtrack and art gallery
well done Cyril ;) yeah u're right, I remember fighiting with 3 legend casques equipped and maybe 3 phantom shields, but that way I couldn't enjoy that battle. Now i'm at the end of disk 3, as soon as i get all 40 stardust pieces i'd like to to try to fight him without casques or ph. shields.. that must be a real challenge!
I remember spending hours trying to beat this guy till this day! Hardest boss in this game. I remember feeling so accomplished when I finally beat him.
@skindy1 You don't really NEED any of these things, though they're helpful. Legend Casques alone will make this fight really easy, as demonstrated by the video.
The thing about Faust is his HP bar. Each time his HP bar change colour, he uses a powerful attack (the one with no incantation scene) at the same element as the first, second or third member of your party. In this case: HP bar colour blue: Fire (for Dart) HP bar yellow: Water (for Meru) HP bar red : Lightning (for Hashel) Since this is his most powerful attacks, if you protect yourself by using the Dragoon Armor (not the transformation, the actual armor), he is much more easy. But still a mess to deal with. Just a little help if you don’t have the anti-magic armour
Yeah he is. He's pretty much impossible without either a Legend Casque or some other way to drastically reduce his magic damage. For example that big fireball attack he did at the start does around 4000 damage if you don't have a Legend Casque equipped. =P
Magician Faust uses 2 of the same attacks like the last form of the last boss. Thats pretty cool. It shows that this boss is dangerous and has devastating attacks.
I remember my friends Mom was playing this game whne I was a kid and I'am like..."well this game looks...interesting" lol it's pretty funny how I got introduced it and I have quarry's with how I have either. one of the best RPG's of all time.
I'm doing a second playthrough (1st time thru I didn't do any research and just beat the game, I didn't know about the "repeating" items... anyway long story short, I went past the point of no return without defeating faust or any of the Dragoons from the past)...this time I have all 50 stardust and all 10 "repeating" items..I'm in Aglis right now, pretty stoked about a perfect file !!
Magician Faust: Crap, I can't do Fire based damage to Dart. Dart: Haha, how you like that Magician Faust, I'm take no damage from Fire attacks. Magician Faust: It seems that way but DAMN IT, you can have 78.
i was exactly like you.....i only used albert and rose in my last playthrough...but in my second i trained meru very hard and it was the best thing i did
HA!!! That's the exact team I use for most of the game( as soon as possible anyway) and so far its my favorite. I tried Kongol and Meru but their polar opposites and its sorta hard to balance that early on.
