That is more than awesome XD Everything is done perfectly, right down to the tiniest detail. I am psyched that you are doing the dark world as well! It's gonna be so amazing :D
this is amazing work i can tell that everything is perfectly placed, LoZ LTTP is my favorite zedla game, i really want to play on this map and relive that game, but in 3d!
THis is Exquisite, everything is so finely detailed it blows my mind, if only more people had the patience and finesse to pull of a job like this. Please release it for download when you're all done, it would be a disservice not to let this artwork be released.
That.... is GODLIKE.... I bow to this amazing creation and sniffle with pride and the memories at the memories of my favourite SNES game ever. Beautiful work, absolutely beautiful.
I'm sure you spent a lot of time and effort on this and I thank you. I've always wondered what this Hyrule would look like in 3D. I hope Nintendo re-releases A Link to the Past in glorious 3D.
DoubleOBond I congratulate your effort to re-create Hyrule. Also this video encouraged me to go back and FINALLY beat Link To The Past after having the game for nearly 13 (more or less) years.
You have just made a longtime fanboy very very happy. It was strange how, even from the different perspective, many of the places were still so recognizable. Great work.
Fantastic work! I wish I had the patience and time to do it. How did you keep going? Was there any point which you felt like giving up? I am impressed =D
OMT! (Oh My Triforce!) You've made a dream of mine come true! A link to the past in 3D! Every second of this video is so familiar even though I've never watched it before. Thank you for your contribution to humanity!!
i started the exact same project a few weeks ago when i found my 1993 zelda game guide :D ... i finished the area around link's house up to the bridge and down south to the edge of the map but my save got corrupted and i got endless chunk errors. that area alone took me quite some time, so i can imagine how much effort went into this, great job :)
'A Link to the Past' is one of my favorite games of all time. This was/is really cool! I always wondered what the game would look like from a 3D perspective.
Absolutely Amazing! I enjoy the building party myself- I downloaded your link but it appears be already set up there. Can you share how you got your blueprints? Thanks!
Now, all of you imagine this: With mods, one could recreate all enemies as monsters, with teleports there could be actual dungeons, and with some sort of scripting implemented one could even have the characters/story consistently reproduced. O-M-G
this is pure win manifested into physical form in a way our mortal eyes can see without exploding. nothing i ever do in minecraft will come close to this level of awesome.
For those who are interested, I'm put a download link of what I've done with the map in the description. It's not completely done, but I've become very busy in my life. Enjoy :D
I've got to admit this, it felt epic in a way the original game never did. I mean, I never felt places like Desert Palace were so huge with the topdown view. Viewing the desert palace far across the desert or the whole Hyrule down below when you're in Death Mountain, just about entering the final dungeon? You know what, I'm a defender of 2d gaming, but this is overwhelming.
@RyanDrais Most caves are done, now working on Dark World, then dungeons last. Waiting to see if Notch incorporates anything with his "Dungeons and Levers" Update.
I'm also curious how you made this. Did you build this block by block or did you use some kind of porting program or something? How did you figure out the schematics/dimensions for just how big or far apart things needed to be? That looks like a ton of work...
that is total awesome dude, now my question to you is, did you build it entirely in game or did you use an outside editor to do it... and if you built it in game, did you mine all the materials to do it or did you InvEdit to get them? not that it matters ether way. it still looks great!!!
somebody get this guy a medal and a cookie ASAP! you have just made my life worth living sir, thank you. and as a fan request, can you do the water temple from OOT? I'd love that! ^_^
Step 2: Recreate the Dark World. In the Nether. Have fun with that! (No, I'm just kidding. This by itself is amazing and I love it, I'm not here to demand you do more. Thank you for sharing it with us!)
You know I was trying to think of a big Minecraft project that I could do, and then I thought, "I wonder how well I could recreate the legend of Zelda link to the past map." then I thought I should probably see if anyone else has already tried, and here I am
@DoubleOBond You sir, are my hero, and you've won a lifetime supply of internets, keep up the awesome and I look forward to seeing what comes next. Also, are you planning on releasing the maps or perhaps hosting a server with the map on it?
was it just me or what, i did recognize every place :P and i didn't know all the names of all places :P but still i could think in my head how it looks in zelda :P Good job man! Nice :)
That is a very accurate replica of the actual game world, coming from me that I actually completed LttP, but never got the hurricane spin because I had no one to link play with. :(
Please tell my you used a map editor, otherwise ZOMFG You are truly the master of time/patience. Any plans to do any other of the Zelda maps? Because this is pure gold
I just got done watching the video and i had a epic nerdgasm, since I played this game when I was around five years old. You made something come to life that I have wanted to see for many years through, what must have been, many many hours of work. You sir are made entirely of awesomesauce and win. Anyone who says different is so wrong its almost unimaginable, for they would be damning words of blasphemy from the mouths of heretics. Chuck Norris smiles down on you approvingly. :D :D
I was about to start working on a world like this for the server map I'm working on, then I saw your work. This is amazing. I like the dark world you did too. For teleporting you could always use the map in MC server with a mod like hmod or bukkit which lets you set warps. Users would have to use a warp command though. I use startgate though, which lets you create a nether gate and use it as a warp to another nether gate. That's something you can use for teleporting too.
Nice. Very nice. I was working on recreating Hyrule Castle (and the Sanctuary, the path connecting them, Aghanim's tower...) on one of my single player files (working by hand, no map editor) back a few weeks before the Halloween update (mostly been playing online since then), but I was focusing on accuracy to the inside of the building. ALttP has some very wonky dimension and perspective work, so I'm not sure how you'll get the inside of any of the buildings done (if you plan to). Good luck!
I honestly hope you decide to release this to us all, but even if you don't, fantastic job. If you could be bothered to learn the minecraft spinoff Adventurecraft this would be a fucking epic map for it. Diamonds to you!
this vid woulda been 100x better with some kind of texture pack complimenting zelda style and 3rd person mode with link as your skin... not to mention the render distance was on low or something ... anyways looks amazing especially from the zoomed out shot! amazing work dude!!!
I have two complaints about this: 1: I don't like your take on the trees. I would have expected the LTTP trees to be a lot taller, and the shrubbery to be a lot fuller(more round at the top). 2: In LTTP there were shadows in the Lost Woods with spots of light poking out, I would make taller trees, and lots of leaves over the area, with bits of light poking out. Other than that, this is amazing so far! Keep on trucking! Can't wait to see what you do with the dungeons and interiors!
Seriously, this is about twenty different kinds of impressive. Now all you gotta do is use the nether to link to dungeons. Don't build the dungeons in the nether, because I can guarantee there'll be overlap due to the reduction in distance. instead, build a big tunnel, 50 or so blocks long, linking the dungeon exterior portal to the interior entrance. That way you'll have plenty of space to build your dungeon to scale.
@DoubleOBond Hey ,man great work. Love it, the music still gives me goose bumps! Just get Hey0's mod on your server. It allows to the set up warps and install plugins for a ranks system. So guests can see but not touch. WOuld protect your server nicely =) Cheers
Sweet great job! Suggestion; The Lost Woods I feel should have more leaves as a roof, you know to block out some of the sun that way it has that dark feeling like in the original.
@Lady1Kaune1 Double... this is , simply put it's shimmering with detail! It's perfect! I really really like it so much! So much in fact I'm replaying LttP right now!! I assume you'll add caves when it's made possible and as for the dark world, will it be in the nether? And Will you release this map?!
all that was missing was 3rd person view with a link skin. and a sward and bow and arrow. also. did you work on any of the inside of the buildings?? all in all great work!
I really like your map and the level of detail and effort put into it. One of my biggest nitpicks, however, is the format of the map itself. When I load the McRegion Survival map, I have ice forming in places it doesn't belong, and it's not facing true north in the minimap mod. I'd love to see an update for this put into the Anvil Flatmap Creative format.
