Truth be told 95% of the youtubers who's channel have "overlander", "nomad" think Utah and Colorado are the only places to overland and poof because they put those two magical words in their title it makes them an overlander. Also, all these "overlander " RU-vidrs are either weekend worrier who have no idea what they are doing or even talking about or they soley try to sell you crap at ridiculous prices that you don't need to travel the world. These are the same people who received this junk free to get sponsers, must do a review on it in a week, then pass on cheap discount code and then they get to keep the junk. Junk they know nothing about in a weekbut it brings them money. I've been full-time for years and am currently heading to Argentina, I only watch full-time world overlanders because they know what it's like and what it's all about.
Guys, you've outdone yourselves with this one. Seriously, this is about the best overlanding video I've ever seen. What an incredible adventure in a spectacular location.
Thanks Matt/Stacy , I never knew that side of Argentina even existed. I just love how in spite of the Toyota problems , you two are always happy , encouraging and loving. Love Stacy's wicked laughter. Matthew you are her knight in shining armour. The egg was hilarious. 😂Stay safe , stay healthy. ❤
You have to compensate for the altitude's effect on the water temp for eggs. So where I live, 15 minutes min for a hard boiled. At a few meters higher I would just go 20. Nice job on the alta. Stunning.
Wow, maybe the best RU-vid adventure travel video I've watched, and I've been watching a bunch of overlander type, both motorcycle and 4wd. Fantastic footage, incredible adventure, and awesome narration, poetic and descriptive.
The trials and tribulations of adventure. An absolutely stunning bit of work you 2. I still remember running into you two, the island highway and it feels like a whole another world you've driven to. Gonna have to prep the gladiator for international travel and long term livability.
What an amazing journey - Had to hold my breath at the little filmy hanging on the side of Sunday for the River Crossings but we know she's a swimmer! Can't wait to see what the next week brings, and as alwasy - much love 💙
This reminded me of my hero Iohan Gueorguiev bikepacking La Ruta de Los Seis Miles - 1310 km across the Puna with only one resupply - the finest thing I've ever seen on the internet. So you can imagine how much I loved this adventure documentary as well. Thanks for bringing me back to that place of mind.
This is exactly how I felt when I saw the word “Puna”…I remembered Iohan and his spirit (bringing tears into my eyes)😢 ❤ Thank You guys for taking us on this incredible adventure!❤
This is wild, you guys seriously push me to get me Rig done and follow in your grasp, I cannot express deeply enoogh and hope one day to embrace you both in a hug as family. When I feel Defeated in life I somehow come into Your videos and become to dream Again at possible, the possible to feel a story of my own again and love again the joy of living a new adventure and challenge. Thank you from My heart to yours.
Greetings from the sunny south Okanagan where we're getting our usual spring weather. My goodness the terrain certainly changed on this part of the journey, I'm not sure what'd make me more nervous, the sand, the height or all the river crossings. That's a very capable rig you've built guys, kudos for sure. Best to you both and safe travels.
Spring in the Okanagan sounds dreamy! It definitely felt otherworldly the whole time. And we are dang proud of this truck. Going to need to build it a glass case one day!
The first part of the video was the very definition of High and Dry. I, like you, always wondered how and why anyone would live there. No water, no wood for material or fuel and no game for food. What do they do? I've done some overlanding in Florida and they have something called Sugar Sand and it is the consistency of sugar and will swallow a vehicle. Never really been a sand or desert fan, but that area was very cool. The second half of the video with more vegetation and water was more my speed. The section with the condors flying in the distance looked like pterodactyls due to their scale. Not to get all sciencey, but higher altitude doesn't really have less oxygen, just less atmospheric pressure therefore cars and animals (including humans) take in less oxygen with each breath. Living creatures adjust to the different pressure and that's when you acclimate. Car engines can't unless they are turbocharged, supercharged or have a modern fuel injection system that will adjust the fuel-air mixture. The outcome is still less power and that's what you feel in the performance of Sunday. You guys seem to be having a blast and it's great that you finally found your hot spring.
It was really shocking to see people living and working out there. Almost as shocking as the terrain and landscape itself and how frequently it transformed. Deson't sound like we want anything to do with sugar sand ha! Interesting note on the altitude, I wasn't aware! Maybe we'll need some forced induction if we do the Himalayas :D
It must be awesome to be able to do what you guys do. Its been my dream for over 30 years to do what you all are doing. I'm 51 now recovering from my 9th back procedure and back on my feet again I have no idea what I am going to do with my life. You not only get to travel but get to do it with someone you love. I dont have that either. My life is garbage and I want a refund!
Not being a TOY guy I didn’t watch the channel before. But! I’ve watch the build, amazing. I absolutely love your adventure! I watch on a Large smart TV at home. Drone shots are amazing. May I suggest, hand held cameras need to be upgraded. Looks good on a phone, Tablet and a computer screen. But on my Large OLED hand held content needs some help. Being a semipro photographer I am kind of a fussy guy. But just a suggestion. I do watch the other Pan American travel channels and Itchyboots. Love the travel! Thanks for all that you do share!
Thanks for tuning in! Would love to have better cinema camera/lenses. Budget constraints, ya know? If you know anyone working over at Sony... Send them our way!
While we love you two, we find ourselves constantly adjusting our TV volume between your narrative and the much louder musical interludes. Won't stop us watching these amazing amazing stories, the music gets too loud
Guys I never do this but I just watched a 45 minute ad while watching this video hope it helps 🙂, @6:33-6:45 that was so cool what you did with the videography there 🙂
That was exceptionally interesting, entertaining and scenically awesome. Surely enjoyed it as much as you doing it !! Thanks plenty. Go slow and go safe. Best.
You maybe able to turn up your advance when you get to higher altitude. The thinner air allows for more advance to maintain power / leverage in the motor.
Just....holy shit. That's pretty much all I can say.... Edit: Guys - your drone shots are out of this world. Almost literally in this case. It was like you were on another planet!
There are no "make your own plug wire" kits there? I couldn't find a set for my 65 Travelall (before I sold it), so I bought an MSD StreetFire kit. I would imagine that would be easier to find? You need the special crimping tool to keep it from being a nightmare, but you can do the whole set in an hour or two. Maybe some ceramic wool stuffed in strategic areas to prevent the heat getting to them? I know, it's super easy to be an armchair quarterback, but the truth is, I love solving problems and generally fairly adequate at doing so😂 That random cone in the salt flat was humbling... the world still has so much to show this salty old dog.
I'm further into your video now...maybe half way. I love you guys, so much. Your cinematography is hypnotic. Elevating. Incredible landscapes beautifully, nay... _magically_ captured. Lovingly? Perhaps. It might be the herbs talking, but I am head over heels in love with this episode.❤
Amigos... bienvenidos a mí país... Argentina!! Ya saben que rutas van a tomar, por dónde van a viajar? Friends... welcome to my country... Argentina!! Do you already know what routes you are going to take, where you are going to travel?
I can't believe how great this channel is. Living all our dreams, captured beautifully, and shared completely free. I love seeing patreon updates, knowing there's soon to be another video 😅
31:27 Man, you guys are seriously the coolest. I swear, your channel is my escape. On rough days it’s like my greatest escape. I really feel like I get to live this journey with you guys from your videos. It’s just you two in the Chinook but you have good energy from thousands of people with you guys on your travels. Thank you for inviting us into your beautiful adventures, forever grateful fan. Justin Flynn
You know you guys are now members of an elite group of people in the whole world. you are doing what few people do have a hell of a good time be safe my prayers are with you
You kept your word, you grew your hair out! I almost feel I miss you guys, watching you go through so much! I hope countless people are inspired by this incredible journey of yours.
Hey, scientist here with a little health info. Lakes and hot springs in the Andean region can sometimes contain lots of arsenic, which is toxic and can cause cancer and other serious health problems in the long run. Something to keep in mind before bathing in hotsprings or washing cooking utensils in these waters. Sadly, there is no way of telling if/how much arsenic a body of water may contain (other than laboratory testing), and presence of algae/flamingos and other wildlife in or around the water is not an indicator. Arsenic also can't be washed off with water. I enjoyed watching your trip, but seeing you bath in the hotspring made me quite concerned. So I just wanted to put out this info for you and anyone else travelling through that beautiful area. Stay safe!
This information you gave is interesting. Thanks for sharing. Fortunately, these hot springs (Termas los hornos) can be used by us without putting our health at risk.
Un increíble video de pasar con tu carro por los mas lindos paisajes argentino del norte !! No podrás irte de nuestra argentina sin probar el asado y nuestros vinos !! Buenas rutas chicos !! Charly de Buenos Aires ! 💪💪🥰🥰
I discovered you 14 days ago on RU-vid I watched all your the video's during that time and felt my youth coming back in your Video's I rode 6x Camel Tropies and 4x Paris/Dakkar with a material truck Thank you for taking us to this beautiful , rugged world an sharing it in your Video,s Have FUN and be SAFE
Wow, that is amazing! Glad you found us and thanks for watching. Sounds like you've had some bucket list adventures yourself, pleased to hear we could stoke the flame a bit!
Well.. It's a combination of three trucks we assembled from the ground up! So you could say it was 000000 when we left! Engine has over 300k km in reality, chassis who knows, Chinook had 150k
Stunnig video. Inspirational. Your journey looks like something very close to “into the wild”. I really love it. I’m Italian and I’m 55 years old, 7 kids, and I travelled on my bike, then on my motorbike, and sometimes with a sailboat.. But I’m still dreaming and my next dream is travel with a Rv around the world. I’m still young, and my last boat is named “Peter Pan”. Thanks a lot to take us with you. God bless you. And…… buona strada.
Wow it's the aussie from Brisbane Australia incredible video you are one of the best storytellers I have ever heard you describe your adventure so passionately and accurately love everything you guys explore come to Australia please 😂😂
This is so cool, living my dream, I'm trying to work out your rig, I have an 80 series landcruiser, yours seems like an old hilux single cab on an 80 series landcruiser chassis and drive line with a v6 transplant, how far off am I....I'd love to know, cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The footage is spectacular. The drone work commendable. The Toyota is awesome. The sheer raw beauty and remoteness are unique. For me the high point was the condors at the hot springs. Wow wow wow
Another great story, and Matthew, you are very eloquent when narrating your journey. It creates the ideal image whilst the route unfolds. If I were young again, I would do exactly what you two are doing. All power to you both.
Sorry dude, taxes in my country are an absolute theft, the money is ours, the people work for it, but the rulers take it not to give us security, or education or health, but to pay the interest on debt contracted with international organizations. First there is the debt and then the public welfare. The politician is there to guarantee two things, that the debt grows and that it is paid. You also had this system of slavery when England was the greatest colonizer.
Once again what a Espectular, and most of the way Desolate place. Thanks for sharing. And surely it takes mental fortitude and of course the fortified relationship.
I did have the love of my live and the best mother some time ago. With Jutta I would have gone to hell and back and that walking. In fact I did. Well not hell bad we took of from Germany in 82 and went to live on Maui with pretty much no money. If we had a truck that would have been big Wow. Danke for the upload.
Great spot, and videography. That's exactly what Bolivia looks like, I did the 4 day 4WD into the geyser's, Uyuni Salt Flats, volcanoes, red/blue/turquoise/salt lakes, over 5,000m altitude, flamingoes, all types of wildlife, desert, hot springs it's spectacular. Also loved Argentina and Chile, and Antarctica is a must while you're there.
Awesome scenery. Reminds me of parts of Australia. But only 650km of range? Our 2009 Defender does 950km, or about 850km towing our caravan. Come down and see for yourself.
Yeah, that's diesel vs gas things. Remember we were at ~4000M elevation in mixed off-road terrain. On highway/pavement our range is about 900kms. We'll make it down under one day!
