That’s why he finally walked away and retired because he knew he wasn’t going to get the credit and big fights and pay he deserved! I believe bud was close to doing the same thing had not Spence went rogue on his camp and Al Haymon because he wanted to see who was the best and kept his word! If not bud certainly would’ve done what ward did and many wouldn’t have known how great Bud truly is just like many don’t know how great ward was!!! Hats off to Spence helping to make fight happen sad how he being treated by some now…. Wonder if Al Haymon gone still back him or move on away from Spence now?!?!

That's the reason why he didn't take in the US. Plus, he was dodged like no other... they finally had a middleweight tournament (which he won) because there were so many good super middleweights... they could avoid him no longer. He was the only boxer to win every match of the super middleweight tournament.

Ward was underrated and one of the best modern champs in his division but he wasn't a media main stay or loud etc, he didn't get into out of the ring antics mistakes etc ,actually to be commended, but for that in the u.s the publicity usually isn't there, rjj is right other countries recognize champions who are wholesome but the u.s not so much, Andre was a technical nightmare for opponents...

Can't compare Ward to Crawford. Ward never dared to be great. He ducked Adonis Stevenson @ 168 & 175. Challenged GGG & Chavez Jr but expected them to come up to 168 to fight him even though they were bigger draws then him. Bud has a 93% KO ratio since moving up from 135 compared to 50% for Wards career
