@@davidtillwach5542I remember that interview, she's so right (because I know everything hehe). Same with hippydehop music. If you haven't dicated the year or haven't said the N word within a minute, it ain't hippydehop
That's why I listen to only Old country music. So sad the language in today's world. If the language comes on any of the old country I turn it.I was glad she spoke out.
Oh gosh when was this recorded? This is why I liked Jean so much. She really meant what she said and made no apologies for it. She was the "real deal" and boy was she talented and good at what she did. Jean said good bye with conviction, courage and honesty enough to move a person to tears. An honest classy lady. RIP Jean.
I can remember when country music was country but now it's all hollering and jumping around ! there are very few good singers left in country music today !
just learned about this, how sad we lost another one of our great true country singers Also so sad that i never saw this in any newspaper or any news program, another slap in the face to our classic country entertainers and their fans.
She is sooooo Right about the music today!! Just like she was in my brain, been saying it for years. It isnt the same now, just aint. There are a FEW, but not many who are just naturally Great and real, not like they used to be. Meant what she said , and said what she meant, honest about how she felt and certainly didnt care who knew.
Jean Shepard was right. She spoke the absolute truth, Today's country music is only a reflection of a country that once was real. Rest in peace, Jean Shepard. May the Lord speak well of you in heaven above, on Earth as it is in Heaven. ❤
Glenn Johnson I spent a whole day with Jean while she was in the UK,around 1980?Won a competition on Radio 2,"Country club",watching her rehearse and chatting, along with Boxcar Willie. We got on like a house on fire as she spoke what i already thought back in 1980 how country music was going even then.God bless her! However, thank goodness that there are a few artists and bands out there that do sing from the same hymnsheet, that perform country in the traditional way.I also perform and keep alive the music of Hank Snow,Johnny Cash,Hank Williams,Lefty Frizzell,Elton Britt.Kenny Roberts,Jimmie Rodgers,Slim Whitman to keep their music and memories alive.Never to be forgotten.RIP Jean.Thank you for all this footage
Precious Mrs. Jean I am just seeing this. Having being raised with yours and many other real country artist, has been a blessing. RIP sweet one and you already said your goodbye, one day to say hello again.
I love that lady and all that she stood for so much! She was the "rose" in the garden for sure. I thank her for all the wonderful music and entertainment she gave me during the years and I'm sure there is a hole in her family that will never be filled. God bless you Mrs Shephard and may God rest your soul!
RIP, Jean...loved you for years, from the beginning....ever since you started out in Tulare, California......got your Bear family records, and many, many lps....love how you were out there and told it how it was....country will never be the same without you....thank god I have my records of you to play so this WONT" be the last time I hear your voice
May I respectfully say I love Ms. Jean's view points, from this here 59 yr old Kentucky man that agrees, ain't no good country music anymore, gotta go back many yrs to find any, & I always Love Jesus First !
She said, “Isn’t that terrible being so truthful?” (0:40) I say, no! It’s a breath of fresh air! I don’t believe in being ugly when speaking your mind. There is a right way and a wrong way to address things but the way she said her opinion wasn’t ugly at all. If more people spoke their mind, the world would be a different and better place. I say, articulate it nicely and plainly and tell the truth as best as you can. I sincerely believe in standing up for right and admonishing wrong. I believe Jean Shepard would too. That’s why I like her. She was honest and truthful in her songs and how she spoke.
Totally endorse everything Jean said about today's "country" music, don't know what it is but it's not country as I know it. Farewell to Jean my favourite lady.
She went through so much. Losing her husband Hawkshaw Hawkins in the same plane crash as Pasty Cline. They made it all about Patsy and Jean was 8 months pregnant with their second child. Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copeus where big stars of that time. RIP Jean Shepherd. Greatly missed.
Ms Jean told it JUST LIKE IT IS about today's country stuff they call country music. This is THE GREATSEST LADY of REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. I look forward to seeing you again Ms Jean, save me a seat up there, I'll be coming one day.
Glenn Johnson RIP Jean. You got it right, country just ain`t like it used to be but the real stuff is out there. You just have to look harder in different places these days.
She don't even look like Jean Shepard here!!! Very opinionated and direct but she's right about the grand ole opry....it isn't what it use to be!!! It's not as good now!!!!!
She right about country music nowadays .What there playing today is not country music. Like Jean Shepard said you have too have a. Fiddle and steel guitar in real country music.
I don't know exactly how or why it changed, but she's right, it's not the same country music it once was, and that's one of the saddest thing I can think of. :*(
Those so called, country stars of today, Don't have any Talent. They use all the electronic devices today that makes them sound like they do. They couldn't carry a tune if their life depended on it. To me, they all sound alike ! Also none of them have any class today ! Went from Class to Trash ! Sorry for running my mouth. Have a nice day .
When she said the only thing she put before country music was her kids and Jesus, you know she really meant it. She wasn’t doing what county artists do today, and saying that just to patronizingly pander to her fan base.
Country music today sucks. they all sound the same. It's not country music. I can't stand to listen to it. And I don't listen to it. Loretta Lynn Conway . George jones. Now that's country. You can tell who was who. Today music awful sounding. I got so tired of hearing about beer songs and tractor songs. And all that crap.
