Joe should get Elvis’ cousin Billy Smith on the show. He lived with and worked for Elvis from beginning to end. He’s the only living Memphis original Mafia member left alive.
I was working security at a private art show in midtown Manhatten in the late 90's. Michael Jackson walked passed me and I didn't know that it was him because he was wearing all kinds of scarfs. My boss said to me a few minutes later "did you see Michael Jackson"? Then it all made sense and hit me because when he passed in front of me I felt this energy that was enormous.
@@leeannabesser1374 Thanks. It was truly surreal because I felt some energy go through my body. Then when my boss told me that it was him shopping for art it all made sense. The show was extremelely high end private.
I'm 35 years old and I absolutely love Elvis presley. His talent was unreal and unmatched. He was and is The King 👑. Greatest of all time. The charisma dropped of him. Legend. The film did it justice and that film and Austin had massive shoes to fill.
Michael Jackson wrote most of his own hits. Prince was another more talented song writer. You should be comparing Elvis' popularity, not his talent. Way more talented artist out there. Elvis had a voice.
@@unclematt3134Elvis didnt had only “his voice” only jealous people say this! His beauty, charisma , he produced moat of his music shows in vegas etc do your research!!!
@@progrockmorelikefrogc0ck157 What? No way .Look how much Elvis brings home today compared to the Beatles. They don’t come close The Rolling Stones should be compared to the Beatles who are much bigger and better than the Beatles.
@@archiekabooom2928 Lol what are you on? Elvis didnt even write music he was a cover artist. The beatles created multiple genres and broke us into an entirely different world creatively. The rolling stones just copied every move the beatles made. Theres way more to music than just money Edit: Just looked it up and the beatoes are actually the highest selling artists of all time and Elvis isnt even 2nd. Rolling stones obviously didnt even crack the top 10
Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson weren't songwriters. MJ contributed to some allegedly but I believe it was put on the album but he paid them to put it on. If he did do songwriting he wouldn't of had no money
@@dondamon4669 Uh this is wrong lol. Michael Jackson was a composer and songwriter. Billie Jean, for example, was written entirely by him. He beatboxed the entire composition into a tape recorder and wrote all the lyrics. His musicians then copied his beatbox. There are plenty of interviews where people who worked with him talk about this, including some of Michael himself.
I watched this episode. I’m impressed. This guy is apparently responsible for everyone’s success. Elvis, Dana White, Vitor Belfort, Gracie family, UFC and the extinction of dinosaurs.
@@Doorito_ fuckn oath! "I fucked my business partners wife, well, I never touched her but we talked a lot and smoked dope together..." Throws a lump of glittered bullshit at you and then chips away until you have the truth but also the stench of the 30 seconds it took to get there.
I watched this complete Podcast. This guy lives in a complete fantasy world. He's had '200 streetfights close to death'. Talk about exaggeration in every story. Complete Moonman.
Can we all take a moment for the idea of Michael Jackson playing Batman & Prince is the Joker? lmao fun fact for any new Prince fans, he actually did music for the Jack Nicholson Batman movie in 1989. Prince would've actually looked cool as the Joker, he cosplays as a form of the Joker mixed with two-face in his videos "Batdance" & "Partyman" cool stuff! 😉
MJ & Prince were like Batman & Joker in real life.. personality wise. Prince had a love/hate for MJ like Joker had for Batman. But they were closer friends than people know. The kind of friends who admired each other but also got a great kick when the other failed. But when the allegations hit, Prince was having none of it & would not tolerate any MJ slander by reporters or associates. He really stood up for him.
Jon Peters and Streisand met Elvis in Vegas in 1975, not 1976. Really classy of Peters commenting that Elvis «was so fat he couldn’t sit in a chair». I’ve always wondered why people have this urge to put other people down. If Peters «loved Elvis» as he says, why on earth would he be so tactless towards him..?
This is the dude that Kevin Smith talked about years ago. He was going to make a Superman movie with Nick Cage. Kevin Smith paints him as a out of touch narcissist. He was a hairdresser and just happened to be in Hollywood at the right time and right place
I liked the movie Elvis more than I thought I would. I went into it thinking it was just yet another Elvis Presley biopic, but it was 100% a character study. It highlighted all of the turning points, not only in his career but his life, that made him the legend that he became. The only thing they really didn't go into a lot of detail on was his drug addiction. They only scratched the surface on that.
@@nenabunena Nope, they bearly touched on his drug addiction. And his addiction wasn't all prescription. Elvis had a (Dr. Feelgood, aka, Dr. Nick). Which means Dr. Nick would give Elvis drugs in a "prescription bottle". Not everything Elvis got from Dr. Nick was legal or even prescription. Over the decades, Elvis's band and his "crew" have talked about "Dr. Nick" several times.
@@theylied1776 Actually, they WERE all prescription meds, mostly uppers, downers, and opioids. When Dr Nick tried to control the meds, Elvis simply went to a different doctor. No one said no to Elvis. However, he WAS legitimately in a lot of pain, legitimately had horrendous insomnia, legitimately had excruciating health issues. He believed he needed the meds. And with what we know now he probably did. The technology to fix and diagnose him wasn't there in the 70s, and a lot of his issues were discovered post-mortem. And Elvis had great faith in the medical field; he believed a pill could cure all of his ills.
That guy has seen it all. Yep, it's sad that Elvis didn't do A Star Is Born. His performance could have been the figurative cherry on the top of his career.
I believe it ain't gonna work and somehow they will fuck it up. Who can play MJ? And, the guy had a 40 years of a career...you cant put that in one film.
I am looking forward to Lisa Marie Presley's book I pre ordered and is coming out in October. She of course had a lot to say about Elvis, and Michael. She was with each for 9 years! If I was writing that book and had that life I would call it "My Two Kings."
The Elvis movie gave me chills.. As an 8 year old watching Elvis movies, i never cared about plot or dramatic scenes.. Elvis got the girl, won the fight, and beat up the guy who wanted the girl..Elvis was Batman, except he was the first real life supehero. At 12 years old seeing him at Madison Square Garden in 1972. I knew there was a God.. it wasn't Elvis, but after seeing Elvis, I knew there had to be a God.. He changed my life forever.. The new Baz movie gave me chills..
If you remember the basic the plot of "A Star is Born" - two musicians fall in love - the woman is an unknown who quickly becomes a star & the guy is a seasoned pro who spiral downwards as his lady rises to the top - it would have been fascinating to see Elvis in that film (who was at that time was fat, drug-addicted, and in trouble) and in a perfect world, I would love to see that film with Elvis. That would have been a comeback more epic than Brendan Fraser's current comeback had Elvis took that role.
Elvis probably more so than Michael Jackson on a global scale but Michael Jackson was probably the last big cultural music star. I cannot think of anybody else.
Elvis wanted to do the movie "A. Star is Born"... He wanted to be taken seriously as an actor and he wanted to get into acting to break up the monotony of touring the same places...He met with Barbara and Jon and discussed what making the movie would entail...Elvis and Barbara both decided that they both needed to drop 20 pounds before filming started... They agreed to spend 30 days in a " fat farm" as they called it under supervision to lose the weight... Then 30 days promoting the movie, and then 90 days of shooting the film...altogether Elvis and Barbara would spend about 6 months to complete the movie... Elvis's guys were excited The guys said they hardly slept after Elvis gave them the good news... The next morning Red West came in Graceland and Elvis was looking dejected and sad and Red asked if he was alright and Elvis said he was okay...Red asked what the colonel thought about doing the film...Elvis said the colonel said that they don't need to do the movie at this time... The truth was that Elvis had second thoughts about doing the movie because he would have to lay off the pills and no guns allowed at the fat farm...Elvis asked the colonel to kill the deal so the colonel did...He asked for more money and top billing and that killed the deal... Everyone thought the colonel was to blame but Elvis wanted out of the movie deal so the colonel got him out... That's what really happened...
@@oliverclothesoff3219 I got the information from an interview that was done by Sonny West who is sitting there with red west when Elvis made the decision that he was going to do the movie and then had the colonel kill the deal and still leave Elvis with his dignity intact in front of the guys...
I’ve never been a big Elvis fan but I think the new Elvis movie is really incredible, though definitely not for everyone. And Austin Butler probably deserves the best actor Oscar
Having worked within the heart of film industry Jon Peters is one of the big ones. He definitely knows these people. He’s a massive producer or was. I think he’s retired now.
I always wonder how somebody grows up to end up in a position like this guy. You'd have to have really supportive parents or be a genius to know what you want to do so early in life. Or just live in Hollywood and your friends dad is a movie guy. Who knows.
What a lucky stiff. Imagine meeting two icons. Two legends. Two incredibly riddled drug-addicts in one lifetime. Damn. The Gods are shining down on you JP. 😉
This show was absolutely mad, this guy went crazy talking about getting shot in a gang fight and leaping naked onto home invaders while packing heat, training with Chuck Norris and what not else. Wildly entertaining tho. Legend. ✌️
It was one of my favourite rogans and I thought it was gonna be shit, but I was laughing like crazy, the guy is fucking nuts but so funny too, loved it
@@DARKOvibrations Yee man, me too, especially because you can see that Rogan knows his full of shit, but just loves and accepts him for who he is. You gotta be nuts to be a big film guy I guess. ✌️😂
Yes Elvis introduced the Jackson 5 at a show & they later met at the hotel too. Lisa Marie tells the story. That was the first time she met MJ. She was a fan of the Jackson 5 & would go to their shows.
They asked Elvis to do the movie in 1974. Elvis wasn’t near 100 pounds overweight at that point. It was Col. Parker making outrageous demands that kept Elvis from being in the movie.
@@whs-waterfox7034 The movie came out in 1976, however, the role was offered to Elvis in 1974, they really wanted him to do it, but his manager made too many demands and Elvis was very disappointed when he didn't get to do it. ....he would have been brilliant
Joe’s episodes are all about 3 hours long, but if he likes you and it’s flowing it will go longer. Shorter episodes are a red flag. This one is especially short 🚩
yeah people used to remain seated at music gigs and then elvis came along and people just exploded and couldn't contain them self's, local sherrif departments tried to get him banned or arrested because elvis was having such an affect on people that authorities didn't know how to deal with it....frellin brilliant if you ask me and thank god for elvis otherwise we might all still be sat in chairs tapping our fingers & toes
Well “copied” in the sense MJ was fascinated by the makeup transformation into the werewolf & wanted to do that for Thriller. So he called John Landis & Rick baker, the director & make up artist of the movie to make Thriller with a similar transformation. It’s a well known story that John Landis speaks about.
The basic element of Elvis' daily food intake was a 30-cm long bread roll, stuffed with bacon, peanut butter and strawberry jam. Each one had 42,000 calories, and in his final days, he ate two of them per day, together with little midnight snacks of hamburgers and deep-fried white bread.
I read all the books written by the Memphis Mafia and the consensus is the same... after a midnight show in Vegas, Streisand and Peters met with Elvis and offered him the role and he was excited to do it. After he thought on it a while, he got cold feet. When he wanted to get out of something, he'd have the Colonel demand something outrageous. So, the Colonel demanded top billing, one million in salary, $100,000 in expenses, 50% of gross profits, and a separate deal for soundtrack rights... to which they said, "Nah."
I don't necessarily trust the M. mafia on everything they say...that's for sure. The story as told by Priscilla I believe (she remained extremely close with Elvis right up to the last days---they often talked for hours), said that Elvis wanted to do it but the Colonel didn't get along with Barbara at all...and the demands he made were unreasonable.
This was a painful one to watch. It was only an hour long so I'm not sure if that was the plan or that Joe got sick of this guy. He was telling so many lies and exaggerated stories.
Michael backed out? No way, pretty sure Prince would have backed out first. Michael always wanted to work with Prince more than the other way round. Prince said no to being in 'Bad' because he didn't want to be in a song where Michael would sing 'your butt is mine' directed at him nor did he want to sing that line the other way round.
