Legendary Iron Maiden Vocalist Paul Di'Anno Dies at 66

I met Paul Di'anno exactly 30 years ago to this very day. Back in 1994, I was a drum tech for a band out of the bay area called Vicious Rumors. We signed on to do a 6 week tour through Europe called "The Ultimate Power Force Tour". The band were Metal Church, Vicious Rumors, Paul's band "Killers" and Zodiac Mindwarp. The tour started on October 22,1994 but we flew into Amsterdam the day before the tour started. That's when I met Paul and the rest of the guys in his band. I didn't know it at the time but both band and crew members of V.R. and Killers were about to spend every waking moment for the next 6 weeks together. We all lived on a double decker tour bus touring Europe and having an absolute blast! Paul was a wild man but had a heart of gold. Being a big Maiden fan, I was a bit in aww of him. But he was always so cool to me. We had some really great sober and "unsober" times. Dare I say by the end of the tour, I could honestly say Paul Di'anno was my friend. I will never forget that final day when at the airport Paul and I hugged each other and said "I love your brother"! That's a hug I can still feel to to this very sad day. Rest In Peace my friend. Sadly, we have now lost the frontmen for 3 of the 4 bands on that tour. Carl Albert (Vicious Rumors) Mike Howe (Metal Church) and Paul Di'anno (Killers).

First 2 Iron Maiden albums are my favorite. I bought both their first albums in 1981 and was blown away. A True Metal legend is gone, but not forgotten. Thanks Paul. RIP.

A buddy of mine worked at Capitol Records and brought home that first Iron Maiden record. It was Paul Di'Anno's voice that initially drew me in. RIP Paul Di'Anno.

I listened to both the iron maiden and killers album today randomly and sang them out loud while cleaning my house lol. Never knew he died until now very strange how I chose to listen to them as I've not thought about them in many years.....rip Paul

Gonna go and blast WRATHCHILD loud and proud in memory of Paul. In fact I'm gonna go blast the first two Maiden albums which are 2 of GREATEST additions to what became heavy metal. "CUZ I'M A..... WRATHCHILD!"

Ahh, I think we all knew this was coming. RIP Paul. Killers is one of my all time favorite Maiden albums. 🤘🤘

I envy him. He is now in a far better place than us. He is amongst friends and long, lost loved ones now. Up there along with Ronnie, Lemmy, Randy, Jeff, Dimebag, Eddie and countless other Heavy Metal Legends. Hopefully we too can join them again somewhere else in better times.

Killers was the first Metal Album I ever heard. I borrowed it from a friend. It changed my life. It was like discovering oxygen for the first time. I had to get all the metal in the world after that. I was 16, 41 years ago. I am lifting a Kentucky Bourbon and remembering Pail Di'Anno .

Paul was indeed a driving force in the success of Iron Maiden. Paul worked hard and played hard and left this world too soon. Life is short. Take care of yourself when you can. Be happy. RIP Paul.

I always loved his bands he fronted. Maiden or Battlezone to all his others he graced us with. Just a shame to lose another staple from my teen years that I listened to back then and still do today. Just last week i was cranking Children of Madness by Battlezone on my speakers and Killers from Iron Maiden back to back. Rest In Peace brother..

Some of my favorite work from Maiden were their first 2 albums. Highly underrated, IMO. I very much enjoyed watching him perform with Gus G recently. Very sad day, indeed. Time to up the irons for Paul Di'Anno. Rust in Peace.

Just saw Maiden in Denver 2 nights ago. Still INCREDIBLE!! First time I saw them was in '83 and so many times since then. I, like many, was hoping that for the 50th anniversary tour next year Maiden would bring Paul out for a song or two. I know they had all started to get along after all these years. Thanks for 2 incredible albums that changed EVERYTHING. R.I.P.

Yes, I definitely remember this killer vocalist from Iron Maiden, at least that's the first time I remember hearing about him, and my first taste of his contributions to damn good metal with Iron Maiden was the Killers album!!! But I only caught a small taste of everything he did after that, and admit that I really don't know much about what he was doing after his time with Iron Maiden!!! And I am ashamed of that, because I have always thought that he definitely had one hell of a damn good metal voice when I heard what he did during the Iron Maiden years!!! R.I.P. Paul Diano!!!
