Whenever I hear that opening to T.R.O.Y., nostalgia goes off. I'll always have a good feeling about that song. And the stuff you did for Mary J. and Nasir.....come on! The World is Yours feels good too. #anditsstillallgood
Mark Howell I was kinda hoping you hadn't heard of him so I could give you the gift that is "Donald Byrd". My god, he is the funky, jazzy GOD of trumpet players....sampled by hundreds of producers and worked directly with Guru on some projects. Listen to his "Places and Spaces" and "Black Byrd" LP's first...from there explore on your own. Enjoy - I know you def will.
Kanye said he was the new pete rock, just saying, pete rock changed how sampling and breaking for beats was flipped. True legend. Mecca and the soul brother was by far the future back in 92.
JorGen Bon Strangle : I got to shake his hand when he played at Chip Shop in Brixton, London, England. It’s a really tiny place which he came and rocked. I had to wait to the end and shake the great man’s hand. Also Idris Elba turned up and was getting down with the master beat maker.
Pete Rock, that Phenomenal Extraordinary Boss that Can't Nobody can get with except DJ Premier.... Big Ups to the Planet, nothing but Bosses reside there.... Yaheard.
you know i fuck wiht pete rock, but why do yall bring people up on these shows and try to get them to talk shit about trap music? "how you feel about them 808s?" sway and pete yall were both around in the 80s when a whole lot of hip hop used 808s. The boom bap "golden era" was only like 6 years. Then even NY was onto other shit. Quit hating just because NY's not on top anymore.
I don't think you understand how great music would have been if lawyers didn't get triggerhappy with the lawsuits .. you ONLY hear "trap" music because rappers can't afford samples anymore.. trap was pushed by commercial labels because there's 0 copyrights on the sounds they use to produce it, and the million dollar studios turned into $500 vst workstations.. therefore they make more profit if they can persuade you to accept mediocrity..
+Toki Gaming i like sample music and synth music....one is not necessarily better than the other...the fear over samples we know now started in the early 90s with biz markie I believe. But there have still been sampling trends in the mainstream since then obviously....A lot of boom bap producers made music to where it was hard to find the sample anyway.
THEINFAMOUS1011 he said RUN-DMC and Heavy D were challenging because he had to convince them to change up their sound. It's not our fault if you just don't listen.
