Is the Legend of Zelda the best game on the NES?
Released 35 years ago, The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo's most successful franchises, but how did it all get started? In this video, we'll find out!
With it's massive world and confusing labyrinths, many gamers have struggled to complete Link's first adventure. If you've ever found the original Legend of Zelda difficult, this guide will make you an expert!
We'll also learn:
* The location of EVERY ITEM, even the optional ones!
* Data for EVERY ENEMY you can fight! Information about Hit Points, Attack Damage, and even possible item drops make this the most complete guide on RU-vid!
* How to get started FAST! You'll be ready for every challenge with the best weapons and items!
* How to manipulate the item drop system! Do you need to find Bombs, more Rupees, maybe a fairy? You'll learn how to FORCE the game to give you what you want!
* Where to find ALL OF THE HIDDEN RUPEES - always have the money you need, an if that's not enough, I also reveal a fast way to get even more money!
* How to defeat EVERY BOSS, including Ganon himself! We'll use modern strategies developed by the pros!
* Strategies for completing every level, AND MORE!
Thanks for watching!

It's crazy that having played and beaten the game numerous times as a child and then rediscovering it years later, I never knew of the order of the item drops and other things as well. This game never seems to run out of secrets. Very cool.

I got stuck at level 5 and never got the magic sword. My mom had graph paper for each level and methodically marked every attempted and successful bombed wall and burned tree. We even had graph pages for each scene in the overworld. It was so much fun as a kid to go into that much detail and watching her beat the game!

Fun fact: the "master"ghosts in the graveyard only move in 4 directions: up down left right. The ones that get summoned by touching the headstones move in any direction. If you lose track, look for the one moving only in straight lines

Before this walkthrough. I didn’t get too far in Zelda. Prob about halfway through, but your strategy on going right for the bombs was quite helpful. So I never did get far enough to the recorder, then I realized it’s the same sound effect as the warp whistle in Mario 3, which also has the same overworld music in stage 3 as the fairy fountain. Go figure, the composer for both games was Koji Kondo. Next on the Zelda chopping block for me is Zelda II, which I’ll be sure to use your guide again! Its cool to see the end of these games that tormented me as a kid 😆

That is a surprisingly easy and efficient route - getting the cash and the hearts in just the right timing to get all the items and being slightly over-powered (due to extra hearts) for each level. I had no idea Bolero was intended as the overworld theme for The Legend of Zelda. That piece is a snare drum player's nightmare. lol

I still have my original copy of this game. My uncle bought it in 1986, beat it, and then sold it to me for what was probably an inflated price at the time. I have beaten both quests countless times since then, but the first times through were tough, especially the second quest. One thing that took me forever to find was the red ring in the first quest version of level 9. For some reason I did not ever think to bomb the right-side wall of the room that leads to the path of rooms leading to the map and the red ring. The reason for that was because the rooms leading up to red ring were all one space to the right of the number 9 where it reads "Level-9." For some reason I had just assumed that the map could not extend past the level number. One thing that I remember about battery backed games for the NES was the frequency of lost data. I remember praying every time I turned Zelda on that the data had not been lost. I really hope Nintendo comes up with a third quest or something for the 35 year anniversary for Zelda. And if you get a chance, it would be cool to see a second quest walkthrough. You can begin the second quest right away if you use "ZELDA" as your file name.

Funny story - as a kid I had played Zelda briefly at my dad's friend's house, so I really wanted a copy for my birthday. When I got it, I had read about the code to start on the second quest, so I put it in. I thought they meant the second level, I didn't really know I was playing a whole new game. I figured out what was going on part way through, but I did end up completing the second quest before the first one! I felt like Level 2 was a big hurdle because i didn't have the White Sword, and they wanted me to fight Gleeok. That was really hard. I drew maps for levels 7-9 to help me remember where illusion walls were. its no wonder why I love this game so much.

If you save a game, and every once in a while you insert the game and turn it on, it charges the battery. Under optimal storage conditions, it’s rumored that the battery will last 70 years. The last time I throughly played the game was in 2005 right before I graduated high school. Twelve years later I decided to plug in the ol Nintendo and to my surprise the file I created 12 years ago was still there

Just imagine how many of the secrets in this video were given out by Nintendo Game Counselors over the phone. Now, they're all in one convenient place, no 1-900 call necessary!

Fun fact: In the over world alone, there are exactly 128 screens in The Legend of Zelda! I don't think even Nintendo knows how they did it.

Wait, unlike LA and OoT, this variation of the Like Like eats it instead of just holding it? That’s rude. My mom found it funny in LA when it was like “Didn’t you just have a shield? Did that thing eat it?” “You got back your shield!”
