It's great to see these two old battlers together with no hard feelings from either man. George was still mentally sharp in this interview, Joe was another story though. I'm no Doctor, but looking at Joe and hearing him speak, indicated that there was probably some brain damage from the awesome power hitters Joe faced in his career. George had many more fights than Joe did, and took a lot more punches in his lengthy career than Joe ever did. George was fortunate to get out of the business with his head still straight. Damn, what a brawler both of these warriors were! These two battlers faced the same fighters, like George Foreman, Ali, Doug Jones, Jerry Quarry, Manuel Ramos, and Buster Mathis. Joe fought maybe 4-fights too many whereas George was still knocking them stupid even in his las fight.Many thanks for this wonderful video.

I've never understood how some of these fighters could be hit so hard & still speak fluently & live long lives. Schmelling lived to 99, Dempsey & Tunney around 80.Chuvalo was speaking so fluently one would never believe how often & hard he was punched. His memory was good too. Tragic family though; 3 sons I think gone to drugs.
@jimhabsfan
@jimhabsfan 7 лет назад
Chuvalo's fights outside of the ring are much tougher than any of those he faced inside the ring. He lost one son by suicide with a firearm, (he was a heroin addict), two sons by heroin overdose and his wife committed suicide with prescription drugs. Chuvalo lost over half of his family through drugs. I pray for George.

Your Royal Highness I've read that George's daughter released a statement saying he'd make no more public appearances& they'd hired additional in-home help to care for him because his mental processes had deteriorated significantly over the last year. Joe Rogan also mentioned George on a podcast discussing CTE & brain trauma among participants of combat sports. At 77 George had been amazingly resistant to bad results despite being hit by some of the hardest punchers in boxing history over his long career. He remained funny,quick witted& had a great memory of every fight. I too am saddened to hear that now this granite mountain is developing serious cracks. I never heard George sound "punchy" like so many other fighters in their 50's&60's sometimes do, and as you say, the last time I saw him speak on a video he seemed solid. I understand his daughter said she'll "never throw him in a nursing home".

Not Chuvalo. George was never knocked off his feet in his entire professional career.

Foreman would have knocked Chuvalo down if their fight had continued another minute more. The ropes actually stopped Chuvalo from going down.

He might have been saved gainst George Foreman but to STAY unknocked in the golden era of heavyweights is just phenomenal.If he'd been a bit faster he could have been genuine danger to the top tier fighters.

Not true. If anything Foreman was slowing down drastically and missing more, it would have been an interesting fight. Remember George Čuvalo (Chuvalo) was never knocked down ever. Greatest chin in boxing ever

@@Mr47CRO Would have been interesting? You think Chuvalo could have beaten George?
