really interesting balancing act with custody considering that with their nearly universal 2+ armor save anything less then anti tank fire tends to bounce off of them. Yet at the same time anti tank fire tends to be very low shots and also not high enough strength to actually insta kill them meaning each one takes min 2 ant tank shots wounding to kill one. Honestly they feel like an army of light vehicles world eaters.

Love that Iron Warrior force. Some really cool looking models there. I havent even thought about veterans and at the time I am writing this, they havent actually done anything in your video yet, but now I want to build some. Think I will put them in the queue after Dominators.

Dont forget that sponson mounted weapons can only target a unit if the unit lies within its firing arc AND has line of sight. regarding the first shooting phase left kratos sponson.

Remember rending against vehicles is d3 extra to armour pen not ap2 so it won’t be able to get you the coveted explodes result 😊

Amazing models, amazing game, I enjoyed this battle very much. I have a feel, both armies had possibility to win, although game was won by Tzeentch and his dice sorcerry. ;) Looking forward for further reports!

Good game. Would have been a different story altogether if Stevie would have remembered his Surge moves (or if DC had graciously forgiven that error),all but guaranteeing those charges a turn earlier. Good game, good opponents!

Good game. Something to keep in mind about the hold the line reaction is you need to do a ld check to make the charge disordered if you fail it nothing happens. You also can't do the reaction if your in combat so you can avoid the reaction by charging another unit in first because as soon as it makes it in the unit is in combat. So the custodes player could have put the dread in first and then the guard into pert and got more attacks by avoiding the reaction. Small thing but can add up. Good game gents

A quick reminder to a rule that I noticed come up multiple times. If a model in a unit has already suffered any wounds then you must allocate wounds to that model. So for instance, after your Veteran Sergeant had suffered a wound you couldn't allocate to the normal dudes before the Serg dies. The same happened in melee with the Iron Circle vs the Dreads where Perturabo was allocated wounds while one of the Domitars were wounded.

@@SNBattleReports In fact, it seems I pulled the trigger a bit early. The rule mentions "unless that model has the character sub-type". Now it'd still have mattered for the Iron Circle but not for the Sergeant, so my bad there. I'm still underway, about 50 minuttes in and enjoying it. Good to see Custodes in action :)

Brilliant game and looking forward to more! Gotta say though custodes are very odd......2+ 6++ 4++(from cover due to skirmisher rule) 6 attacks on charge 4 base 5 charge 6 nemesis....beastly.....Hetaetron Guard looking really cool with blades! Gotta admit though....the ranged weapons in this book are a absolute joke! The venerati have basically a autocannon👎👎 The Telemon is insanly bad for its pts! Ive already had a look at assasins and they really suffer. Sisters of silence are looking really cool though! Gonna be building more of them for deffo!

Hi there, i swear the iron circle only get the 5+ fnp when taken as a retinue for perty. Because of the 25% unit point restriction im not sure you can take that in a 3000 point game?

Hey! Not that I can see, page 185 ‘Moving Bulwark’ special rule, so long as they are in base contact 4++ (improved by 1) does not specify shooting only 👍

@@sn_dc I think their 'roll 3 dice discard the highest' is only against shooting though for leadership. Also, once you only have 1 iron circle left you invun reverts back to 5++ as you need 2 shields in base to get the 4++. Great game though and was really interested to see how custodes are in this edition. Seems like even more1-trick pony than before, but at least you can kill them now!

Hey Simon! We actually used that yesterday for a game this weekend on SN+. Bikes problem is they are so expensive and have a 3+ save which is very sad

As funny as Pert failing 3 2+ on the explosion was.. for explosions you allocate 1 hit to each model within the explosion so it would have been 1 on him, 1 on each automata etc. Means everyone is at risk but also you can't 'tank' the -AP wounds on the best save..

Sorry but it’s same as a shooting wound pool. Wounds could be distributed as if it was a shooting attack so same as always.

Fair enough but it would be good for the rules writer to write the rule in that way as the wording implies each model individually takes a hit. I suggest ‘each unit within the explosion radius takes a number of hits equal to the number of models in that unit within the explosion radius’.. you’re welcome GW! And please ask them to faq/explain the wound pool / wound allocation process with respect to characters. There’s absurd debates about how to resolve it! Fun bat rep though. I think custodes are going to be quite boring as a primary army due to no rites and only one wlt. Probably as it should be though.

I think it's only the hitting on no worse than a 4s doesn't work against Primarchs. It was mentioned in the article when the Nemesis rule was revealed. I could be wrong though! "These mighty warriors scan the battlefield looking for particularly worthy targets. Once an enemy unit fulfils the essential criteria to count as a ‘Nemesis’ unit the Custodes can engage, gaining +1 Attacks, +1 to Charge Rolls, and never needing to roll higher than 4+ to score a Hit - unless that foe is a Primarch." From the article 'Heresy Thursday - Custodes, Solar Auxilia and Assassins Prepare for War With Liber Imperium' posted on the 8th Sept '22.

Heh ironcircle seems op 😅 .. if ironwarriors can stand up to custodes (and golden boys are a one trick pony) in combat something is completely wrong balance wise. A pretty bad one sided game. Something I'd expect from 40k but not heresy

Really nice battle report! Have to say I really start to dislike HH2 everthing that is released outside the first legion books is just total crap. HH2 is all about immersion and story telling, Custodes having weaker armor then a Tartaros terminator is beyond.... mere Guards leaders have 5+ invul. Also all the shooting is nerfed so hard why even bother bringing anything then the basic guardians with spears. The Dreads are strong but missing Brutal means they are weaker then any contemptor. 3+ sv custodes are heresy... how are bikes a 3+ even more stupid with the adrastic weapons insta killing themselves... So we have an army that is only good in melee but lacks a transport to assault from. So the games end up with a hoard of Guardians running around the table, doesn't seem fitting for the finest of the Emperor...

Yeah the shooting is definitely lacklustre! No idea why the bikes are armour 3+ really caught as by surprise as they are very expensive. The custodes do have a better toughness is which is very important for instant death and wounding allocation. Lastly the normal Custode has a 2+ not 3+ but i understand your pain. The Spear dread does have a fist with brutal 3

the amount of rules missed scares me, praetors are ld 9, custards are t5, 2 wounds with a 2+, 4+ invul, missiles dont insta kill them. the vets and primarch are Nemesis units so u get a plethora of bonuses vs them.

Hey Kat! We all make mistakes, for example: Praetors are Leadership 10, not 9 Custodes are 6++ with spears and 5++ with shields, not 4++ The bikes are 3+ save, which is where you are getting mixed up with the instant kill, as the missiles are AP3. We used Nemesis correctly, you can’t hurt a Primarch on anything better than a 4+ otherswise the vets and Iron Circle got the nemesis buffs used against them Hope that helps? And so long as you enjoyed it like we did, that’s the main thing! 😊 mistakes are bound to be made
