IM LEAVING FOR FRANCE IN 76 DAYS AND COUNTING DOWN. I AM AN AMERICAN THAT HAS BEEN WORKING THE OIL FIELDS IN AMERICA. I AM BORED NOW, AND WANT TO BE APART OF A CREW OR TEAM AGAIN. I WENT FROM LIVING AND WORKING WITH THE SAME 50 GUYS FOR 30 DAYS STRAIGHT FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS AND NOW IM NOT WITH THEM AND I NEED A NEW ADVENTURE..ONE THATS FILLED WITH UNCERTAINTY AND ADVENTURE, TURMOIL AND BROTHERHOOD.
After my service in the Army is done I am thinking of going to try for legion selection, If I get in and I like it I may stay in forever but if not I will most likely be a contractor.
The guy at 3:48 is not a Legionnaire. The red arm badge says he belongs to the "troupes de Marine". The black beret his comrade is wearing says it is a Marine Infantry Regiment (RIMa) maybe the Régiment d'infanterie de marine du Pacifique-Polynésie from Noumea or the Régiment d'infanterie de marine du Pacifique Nouvelle-Calédonie from Papeete.
In a few days than I'm going to Paris France to enlist in the French foreign legion. I'm a true professional patriotic American individual. But I want to know what's it like to be a member in the mysteriously uncompromising private military organization. The French foreign legion. And when 5 year contract is expired . Then I'm going to join the United States marine corps for sure.
matthew patterson Good luck my friend. Im only 19, im going into basic military training in my own country(Norway) in august, after that im heading to France to enlist, i will be as prepared as i can.
matthew patterson You will need to become truly patriotic and loyal to France before all. Legionnaires fight for France and are proud to do so. Good luck.
That's bullshit. the French government and the french foreign legion just want you to clean up the mess of the french government. They don't care if you care about france or not. do you think all the foreigners who join the french foreign legion give a fuck about france. they just want to get a new future, a better one, idiot. do your homework.
Fascinated by 3:02-03. It looks like a photo with four different three different sniper or marksman weapons displayed by the four subjects in the photo. One guy (on the right) has a .50 cal. Two guys on the left have the FR-F2 7.62mm (though neither scope appears to be the Scrome J8-F1, which I understood the French Army - and therefore the FFL - used on that rifle). Third guy from the left has another bolt action. I see barbed wire off to either side, smoke in the picture. It definitely is a bad ass photo and I assume posed. Is this during an exercise, training or a deployment.
Its not really like that as much any more, they have a strong code of honour and interpol do background checks before people join to make sure they are not in trouble with the police, certainly murderers and drug dealers cannot join! The legion code of honour Article 7 = (In combat you act without passion or hatred. You respect vanquished enemies. You never surrender your dead, your wounded, or your weapons.)
You young guys save a spot for me, I'm joining The Legion when I return in the next life. 70 years old and have served in the USAF and USN. Good luck to all.....see you in Aubagne !
The Gurkhas are badass and I wouldn't want to piss them off, that is certain. However,I think the Legion still has the element of heartlessness about it.I cannot say this for certain,my dream of joining the Legion was crushed by disease but what I do know of them is they still take in men of an evil nature,so to say.I think perhaps your chances of being taken prisoner and being treated according to the Geneva convention would be better if the Gurkhas got a hold of you.All in all,a close fight.
