It honestly was the first step on me giving up comics as a teen. There was a bunch of stories I was really involved with and they were all interrupted or aborted by Onslaught, Age of Apocalypse, and Heroes Reborn.

That's the summer I had all my nieces and nephews for summer vacation and we collected those comics and metal cards Onslaught was a genius bit of story telling They are all True Believers Every one of them as am I in fact I told them that Marvel comics are going to make movies and they were coming out in May and on my birthday in fact I became a legend among the Marvels and Stan Lee is not dead He is among the immortals and can not die True Believers keep him near their hearts He taught me vocabulary and I was a hero and I was to be honest forthright fearless noble and my first comic was Wolverine and I learned to be relentless and I overcame asthma and it hasn't affected me for decades To the whole of Marvel thank you Even though some of the movies need a reboot I will never stop believing and I'm now a grandfather and my grandson will hear about wonders of Gods and Men Of the fight to keep believing that he will make it right and the evil can be conquered There are but two types of people Victims and the Relentless and never let people that you love down Help where you can protect who you must Hate is always foolish love is always wise Always try to be nice But never fail to be kind

Well I'm actually glad they stopped Onslaught from fully resurrecting. It happens way too often in storytelling, That the big bad is coming back, the heroes try to stop him, they fail, then they have have to beat the Big Bad when he's at full power. It was refreshing to see a Preventive conflict rather than a reactionary one.

Here's an interesting thought. Does this make Franklin Richard's a mutant again since the person that said he wasn't was Professor Xavier? He could have been lying because the last person to defeat Onslaught was Franklin himself. And why wouldn't Onslaught try to guard himself from the person that beat him.

I think it was only in this event that onslaught truly possessed xavier but you could use it to retcon him back into a mutant. The unfortunate thing is that dan slott is still on the ff book so I doubt you could

I think that might be the case and further more I think we will get much the same for scarlet witch and quicksilver. They were always mutants but people just lied. I think that is why the high evolutionary is in X-men.

Ok I don’t think Franklin should be considered as a mutant. He’s cosmically enhanced. Remember he came from the future as Eon, I think, and put the dampening block on him self as a child. I think Xavier was right, he nor Reed could fathom what level of being Franklin was. Your remember when Sue was preggo? Jeez baby momma was like Whoa!

@@kevinsilverthorne3598 If Franklin wasn't a mutant, he could never have been part of Onslaught. And he was. Xavier, Magneto and even Nate Grey were all caught inside Onslaught, but what made Onslaught a cosmic-level threat originally was having Franklin powers.

The era I collected comics was just before the original Legion Quest into the Age of Apocalypse until just after the first Onslaught saga and Heroes Reborn/Return. Hearing about Legion and Onslaught together in a one shot and NOT having a one-on-one battle that destroys reality seems a little underwhelming... but it also sounds like the writers did a good job of telling the story they intended. Great job explaining it as you always do, Rob! Cheers 🖖🤓

I find it very interesting what they're doing with the X-Men, and how this was handled, as well as everything else. It think it neat how the solutions aren't always a fight. Creativity even including some real interesting politics and interactions between characters we otherwise would not have been able to see otherwise

I love how they have handled legion in more modern times. He helps but isn't front and center. His medatative stance and the energy flowing from his head is a great representation of how he has achieved a form of control and embraced his psyche. He's a very cool character. I also find his casual way of talking fun.

Nice wrap up. I’m glad the story ended the way it did. Onslaught was a dangerous, overpowering force that needed to be defeated permanently. Some villainous characters have a huge impact, but shouldn’t be brought back over and over. It would be more interesting to see how Xavier and Magneto act going forward, Legion and Kurt will definitely have to be on alert.

Since Onslaught is basically psionic toxic waste from the hateful emotions and selfish attitudes of mutants able to use telepathic abilities then it's really capable of manifesting a multitude of ways. I think those who wanted to see a fight miss the point of why Onslaught couldn't be defeated with violence in the past stories and why Kurt found it's true weakness - love.

Onslaught is seriously WAY over due for a fight…after his initial run, onslaught got like 1 “fight” in onslaught reborn as himself but for the majority he was mind controlling others to do the fights for him, everything else was him chasing a kid down. And In onslaught unleashed the mans had like 0 fighting for himself. Counting this run, onslaught now has been practically been out of the fight scene for the past 2.5 stories he is in which is a bit much. I’m not saying he has to be defeated in battle, but he is well overdue for some good fights. I’d kill to see him do even 5% of what he did in his original run. Keeping him in this behind the scenes puppet master role can’t last much longer.

Sounds like this was a teaser for Onslaughts full return. I really thought he was going to return for "good" when Charles and Magneto joined forces because of Moira (onslaught vs some sort of nimrod). I still think it's a possibility near the end of the full arc since Moira has traveled back in time so many times due to outcome of the mutant population. But who knows *shrug*

What is it with people that want to see Onslaught fight Nimrod so much? That's a mismatch if I ever saw one. Marvel classed Onslaught equal to guys like Odin and Galactus. Nimrod was stalemated against Colossus.

As of right now you'll want to start at video #37 "X-Men House of X Part1: New Omega Level Mutants | Comics Explained" This way you can get caught up, and give Rob that sweet ad revenue lol.

Has it ever been established that onslaught is the mutant equivalent of a unimind? I've been thinking this for quite some time now and I'm convinced that onslaught is a baby celestial considering that it's also been theorized that a celestial is the combined essence of an entire race of humanoid beings. This makes "The stranger" and "Mangog" also infant celestials as well.

Not a fan of "We beat Onslaught with Care-Bear love and positivity!" The X-Men titles have seemed really weird for a while. I'm all for creative solutions to a problem within a story, but these continue to trend downhill to me. X of Swords was disappointing as was this. If you want to have Legion unite the minds to Shield and repulse Onslaught together, as he couldn't find a foothold to gain, cool. But this was clumsy at best.

When do we get a Shadow King and Onslaught team up? I think that it would be a killer idea for Shadow King to be responsible for the real origin of Onslaught. Like he planted the seed in Xavier when they fought the first time and it just festered for years until Xavier shut Magneto’s mind down in Fatal Attractions.After that it started to gain power.

Honestly, I'd argue they were more isolated before this era. Now they have their own country, their participating in the world government, they terraform the planet, they brought back another subsect of mutants, and currently they have a new team of X-Men heroes saving the world that are more capable than basically every other superhero team. This era is really showing what happens when mutants get a chance to thrive. And honestly it's still baffles me that anybody wants them to go back to that mansion.

The original Onslaught was one of my favorite runs. I still say they should have treated the MCU as the heros reborn world to reintroduce mutants and FF to the live action movies.
