Upside of playing Jink incorrectly is that we both did, so balance was maintained and fun was had. And now we know for next time.

With GW weird decision of designing the game to aim for 3000 pts and the majority of the complaints about legiones being the price factor, I love to see the community showing a lot of small point games and still being able to play a really interesting game

Rules mistakes aside (we all learning, they will go in time) I really enjoyed this. Not only was the game play and mini's really nice to watch and look at but the chat after about the fluff of the forces and what you guys want out of it was really good. Jink is used instead of armor not in addition to. See page 57 Multiple Save Characteristics. Also buildings save on 2d6.

They did an errata. Storm Eagles do not have the tempest rockets anymore. Model never did. It was a typo.

Remember, buildings take saves on 2D6 so it can totally tank a -4 mod.

I like this new format, with the intro and outro discussions. It is nice to get introduced to Ash's opponent. I think it is very sweet that Ash's friends all lie to him about how tall they are, so that Ash can keep convincing himself that he is 6'1", rather than the actual 5'6" that he is. 🤭 Talking about a shift in perspective, I'm surprised at how large the Thunderbolts are compared to the other minis. They are honkin' great chonkers. Looking at the Deployment diagram, I feel that the deployments zones for the table size used should be 8", rather than 6"; as 8" distance is to where the objective marker goes rather than to where the edge of the deployment zone is. 🤔 I like the ruin template idea; very cool. A little copy of the crashed Aquilla Lander from the 4th Edition Starter Set could be cool for set dressing.

Broken is based on Formation casualties not Detachment, which is sadly more fiddly to track. Ion Shields don't ignore AP, they sort-of halve it though I don't think that would have changed anything in the end. Regardless of some minor rules niggles, great to see some LI content especially with such a nice looking board and minis.

Good as always but a few things I noticed. Cover is -2 to hit as well as providing a cover save. As others have said, it’s jink or a save. Not both. Formations at half strength are broken and are limited on orders. Detachments who suffer 50% casualties take a morale check or they fall back.

Really excited to see more battle reports for this game. Right now I got my first game in which was really fun but since my mates are taking abit to build armies would just love to see more battle reports. Thank you for a amazing battle report!

I like the improvements to the format and can't wait to hear more about these loyalist Night Lords. I have always liked that legion, because they are mostly pirates. Doing the work properly and then getting kicked out by their own government because they did the work with unsavory means. Working for the loyalists suits them just fine.

Your playing Jink wrong, its not a FNP roll its basically an invulnerable save that your model cannot take if your model has a first fire order

Don't forget Interceptor on the many jet fighters. The thunderbolts would have finished the Eagles off anyway becuase Jink was used incorrectly, but it will matter in bigger games when you have air escorts to try to down opponents fighters to save your transport aircraft.

Assault btw doesn't give expoloding hits. Rapid fire does. Assault means you double # of dice you roll under short range.

great video, a very compelling report :D one suggestion though, if you could roll in camera, either in the dice tray or focus the camera on dice rolls, it ups the ante for me at least

I really enjoyed this batrep! I think what I learned is bring as many missile launchers as possible for rooting infantry out of buildings. Also: Flyers. Just, flyers.

Mann, I need them to put the Storm Eagles back on sale soon. Never bought a lot of Aeronautica. Coincidentally the only stuff I bought were the other planes (and some Orks) in this video so those come in handy now

I much more like those smaller games bellow 1500 but most interesting for me look those in 500-1000 points range and on full size tables, still get a lot of variety in composition however its more tactical than two big forces where is no place to move and you always have something in range. I like when movement and especially deployment are crucial parts of game. I played mostly in 7th 40k and early 8th, but loved 7th with facings, templates and scattered deep strike all of that gained much more in atmosphere when played on 48x48 up to 1000 and for full size 72x48 table max 1500 points

Also your independent units activate together with their core unit, so you can move both so long as they stay in 6" coherency

Big fan of the channel! Seems like you were one the few that covered Battle Reports for E40k and it jump-started my interests for getting a live action taste for 3rd Ed. and Armageddon just before I learned of LI. Any notes about the terrain here and the choice for their bases they are on? I've been dabbling with proxy FDM, resin prints, scratch-built and GW peices. Would love to catch an episode on terrain only. Keep up the great work!

Hey! What paint did you use for your sons of Horus? Trying to figure out how to paint my Imperialis and I have the GW and FW SoH and Lupercal greens but can't decide the best method of applying them to the tiny models

That damn plane jinked for EVER

Quick question, in the rule book it says when deploying a flyer, the rear of its base has to be touching either the controlling players edge or up to 8 inches within the controlling board, meaning the flyer can either come in from the front, with the back touching the edge or the back touching the side edges, up to 8 inches. He had his plane come in at the 8 inches with his side touching the edge at 24:05 , basically just giving him a 33 inch move, instead of having him come from the sides or 8 inchs less. Did he just mess up or am I missing something.

Gonna be THAT GUY who points out that Knights aren't Titans, but you kinda corrected that later on and the video was great regardless! The lists are legal, concise but interesting thanks to the Kratos, Knight & flyers. I still think it's weird that the Solar Aux didn't get the Aurox transport off the bat. The setup was clear with good references, everything was explained as you guys progressed, which is great for people unsure of the rules (which is a lot of people this soon after release I suspect!). Alas in the 4th Dec FAQ the Storm Eagle lost tempest rockets, which is a shame as they're an option in 30k. The Knight charging the Kratos needed 6s to save on Ion Shields vs the turret melta blastguns (-4AP = -2AP on Sv4+ Ions). A very slight nitpick: Transports are never considered part of the Detachment that they have embarked on them regardless of being Dedicated or not. The wording is a bit iffy with "attached to" (p128) referring to models embarked for deployment only, with p129's last paragraph in the DT box stating that any unit in the parent Formation can use a normal/non-Dedicated transport. Either way, Transports form their own Transport Detachments and only need to be within coherency of an infantry Detachment if models from that infantry Detachment are embarked on them. You played it right, but said that the Assault Marines needed to remain within coherency of the Rhinos due to being the same Detachment, which they are not, but they did need to remain within coherency at that point 😁

Don’t buildings get a save on 2D6?

Is there any patch to 40k rules that allows to play with these small dudes? Just cut the ranges and movements by half or even 75%?

I originally considered magnet/just keep turrets but a) I don't spam one weapon anyway so mix works fine b) I hate storing spare weapons c) noticed that the PAINT affects fit. It became hard to get snug fit without gap between hull and turret...That caused major headache for me as that is DEATH TRAP logically speaking.

How do sponsons work in this game, particularly in regard to arcs of fire? Is it like recent 40K, where if any part of the model can see the target, they can shoot? Or more old 40K, where the individual weapon has to be able to see the target?

Going for a sparse battlefield? 28:20 Ogryns gets a +5 to CAF. +3 natural, +2 from Furious Charge.

How did you paint your sons of horus?

I thought the whole detachment had to get dedicated transports or none of them, concerning the jump troops detachment.
