Great break-down! Budding Auxilia player here, thought I'd mention the solar auxilia started in the Sol system but expanded across the galaxy alongside the legions in the great crusade, so there's still a slim chance of them showing up in The Great Slaughter. They weren't mentioned by name in the early books since Edgar Somorowski hadn't designed their amazing models yet. Fingers crossed for some updates to both armies 🤞
Cursed City was a choice. I think if it sells out... we'll at least have a lot of people to play against/buy second hand minis from a few months later?
@@blackbriargaming5483 I'm not sure Cursed City was a choice. They had some issues which, being GW, they never admitted to, which meant they had to shelve the game and its expansions, and then resurrected later. That cost them in lost sales and reputational loss. The former they won't recover, the latter they may have done so. I think there may be a crunch in GW's production schedule, with AoS 4th ed coming out in northern summer 2024. Kill Team Salvation has been pushed back, was supposed to be released before Xmas. In 2023 the first Arks of Omen book for 40K was supposed to be released before Xmas but came out a month or two later. I think there may have been other items bumped to later that year, as well.
One of the things I'm really hopeful for in the long run is large models that really make use of that epic scale. I can easily see Imperator titans coming to Legions Imperialis at some point(probably not before all Primarchs have released). Plus I'd love for some massive titanic sized deamons.
Marauder destroyers are actually retconned into heresy from being invented for Armageddon in the fluff. Will we get the 40K guard stuff possibly such as the macharius under another name, the Crassus, the praetor and the gorgon?
Things missing (unannounced) still for the Solar Auxilia: Aurox Carnodon Dracosan Minotaur Valdor Malcador Infernus 5/7 Leman Russ variants 6/9 Baneblade variants maybe Crassus/Praetor + weapon options for Veletaari, Rapiers etc and anything else new they decide to give them
So I didn't include Legacy units for either faction, and didn't go into weapon variants for tanks as we can assume the stand alone boxes will have them 😊
I think many of the legion specific units could be represented with unique legion formations. For example, Emperor’s Children could get a Kakophoni Formation that adds a weapons trait to the infantry detachments in the formation to represent the sonic weaponry
Yep. Bulk keen for this. If we don't get it, this is probably how I'll write the rules. Extra rules for individual units seems silly. Extra rules for themed and awesomely themed formations I can get around.
Were Shadowswords not a thing in the Horus Heresy? As a Guard player looking to jump into Epic-scale Solar Auxilia with two feet, no access to the "Titan killers" would be a bummer.
They were, the video missed a ton of stuff for the Solar Auxilia but to answer your question they get almost all the Baneblade variants in full scale heresy so I expect they will eventually in Legions too.
I know you weren't going to talk much about Knights and Titans, but they've also shown a new plastic kit for the Dire Wolf that will be released for LI and the weapons carried by the Warhounds in the box are new (or new to plastic). I think this suggests that there will be more Titan and/or Knight releases. Armigers in plastic? Dominus class knights? Second, they usually don't stoke as much fanfare for their Forge World releases, so surely some of these predictions might materialize as resin kits/upgrades, and they only haven't mentioned them because they typically are shown off a few weeks before release as a WarCom article.
Yeah the resin thing is interesting. I'm not sure. But I can't recall any talk of resin minis for LI. Whereas Old World have been very direct from the start about their resin plans.
@@blackbriargaming5483 I thought there was a single line that mentioned FW support somewhere in one of the announcement articles. At the least, we know there are some existing 8mm kits from the AI and AT ranges that will continue to be made to support LI. Ares gunship, some Imperial Navy planes, some Knight classes. I assume there will be certain more esoteric units that will also be in resin, like the Mastodon. But that's just a hunch.
Depends here. The old Space Marine did not have rules for different weapon load outs, a heavy weapon squad was simply a heavy weapon squad - if you wanted a certain weapon on the base, then OK, but rules did not change. Different tanks and such for certain, those I can see and expect. I also expect the Lords of War. But generally, in Space Marine it was less equals more rules-wise and models as you desire. Now, in the later Epic they did have a much more individual units and gear (which I personally disliked), so in that case, we may see micro-units and specific load-outs (like Tech Marines and Las Cannon Devastators for example). Specific units are very unlikely. Primarchs are very likely.
The delays are either a good thing or a bad thing. It could be good they are making more copies so people will be able to get one but that is less likely as GW makes view copies knowing good well the demand after all decades of sales records ha its either them fixing rules they messed up or printing mistakes from the printing companies or! worse off its the machines making the minis the quality isnt good and they have to redo them (everything they showed off were 3d prints as all prototypes are)
@blackbriargaming5483 oh I'm definitely having allied artillery. But I think we won't see a lot of the missing tanks, especially lords of war, until the second expansion book which is supposed to be Tallarn.
