That's because he didn't get it from LEGO as a review set so no need for bashing and nitpicking this time. And 5/5 for functions or 4/5 play-ability for a display model that has only steering and opening doors/hood/trunk show the inconsistent rating system.
@@R0Sch88 Each theme has its purpose, so bashing the Creator cars for not having more functions doesn't mean he's inconsistent. I still think he's mildly inconsistent, but they are his reviews, not ours, and he makes the Creator ones out of his own pocket. As for the specific ratings, I'd agree both are high; a 5/5 for "How creative are the functions and how well do they work?" seems somewhat undeserved for simple doors and steering, but it doesn't ask about the number of functions. 4/5 for playability ("How fun is the model to play with?") is also high, but if it were a 2/5 then the Technic sets should get at least 4/5 because most contain twice the functions of the Porsche. So what I'm saying is that he's not rating everything equally but rather taking branding and purpose into account, with expected human flaw.
Dad: you should watch so,etching productive, so,etching educational, not just Lego's. Me: I am, I'm learning about different types of fruits and veggies! 😂😂
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Soren Kane i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
The fact that you bought this for review should clue people enough on how much you appreciate it. Regarding the design, you can tell this was Porsche's meddling with how LEGO was to handle the set. Over the past 20 Years, they've pigeon-holed themselves with their brand image of an austere, precise auto-maker, and have sadly lost some of the passion that, ironically, brings most people into Porsche cars to begin with (the '60s and '70s models in particular). Mike's a very creative guy, as you pointed out as well, and had he been allowed a say in things I'm sure the presentation for this set would have been much different (your comparison to the Beetle was spot on, as that was also a set that he worked on but where more room was allowed due to the Beetle's pop-culture image of a fun, happy-go-lucky car. Same thing with the T1 Camper van, or the more recent Fiat 500). The color as well, is clearly a manufacturer choice (wouldn't want people getting any literally bright ideas about ordering cars in other colors, especially since interesting ones don't tend to fetch as much at auctions as White, Silver or Black). Color options back then varied wildly, and I for one would have loved to see this thing in a bright Green or Yellow. LEGO probably agreed because it would also lower costs to use many of the available pieces in white, but it's just such a shame. You can see weird cost-cutting on the interior too, for example, they used prints for the badges, the windows and License plates, but not a dedicated print for the iconic Porsche instrument cluster (or even a sticker). Lucky for them Mike pulled it off with the new 1x2 printed dash slope that came out this year and 2 of the round ones from a few years back, and still managed to give it that quad-dial look. One last thing to mention is the engine-bay, you were wondering if it was accurate between the two models and it absolutely is. I'm frankly amazed how much detail he managed to squeeze into such a small space, and you can immediately tell the block components, the cooling fan and shroud (Porsches of this era were all air-cooled), and he even put the distributor to one side on the Turbo to clear the intercooler on top, not to mention the turbo itself on the bottom-left of the engine-bay. It's crazy the attention he paid to these things, especially considering he could've made some generic looking thing and most people who bought it as a toy would have had no idea. Anyhoo, thanks again for the review and for taking time to even do the side-by-side comparison, and thanks as well to the BrickDepot guys who are really putting the Romanian LEGO community on the map with their cool videos, wouldn't have believed we'd be this far if you'd told me 20 (or even 10) years ago... Take care and stay safe!
in spring 2019 and now again here, the large creator expert car is 2 in 1 and has more useful functions than the 1-in-1 large technic car. what a time to be alive
"This set was legally purchased" Thanks for letting us know your not a criminal also, run the beginning music at 1.50 speed for a new mariokart soundtrack.
21:40 IKR? I just finished building mine and through the whole building process I met these kind of solutions/techniques. I was amazed by how crazy, yet robust they are
I've already got my two copies, and other than the over-opening doors, I absolutely love this set. Another home run from Mr. Psiaki, and definitely models I plan to keep together
Out of all of the colours Lego has in their palette, I feel like white wasn't the best option. I have a few parts which have very slowly turned yellow over time, which is the one major downside. While it looks good on the 930 Targa, I don't think it fits the Turbo the same way, even though it doesn't look too bad. This is only my opinion, but red might have been a better fit for both versions - mainly the Turbo as a white and black colour combination is rather bland. I don't know though, because there are probably several other colours that would suit both perfectly. Apart from the colour, this is a pretty good set! It's just tempting to get two just so you can build both the Turbo and Targa models and put them side-by-side.
Together with the Mustang and the F40 this is one of the best Lego creator sets released to this date. The shape is well done, the whole car just looks very well detailed and fits right in with the others.
I'm not mad at the black boxes and the black background in the instructions book. I think it makes the set much more valuable, almost luxurious or high end set like it's clean and it contrasts the car so well. Compared to the other car boxes you show I much prefer this one but I just hate the 911 writing that's on the front of the box
I'm genuinely surprised at how far the designer went with the changes between the Targa and Turbo, especially the engine! As you know, the Turbo version is obviously turbocharged and looks quite different to the naturally aspirated models, the former having a gigantic intercooler slapped on right on top of the engine.
The ratings you gave this set is the highest I've seen in a long time. Keep up the good work, and I really wish they chose purple instead of white especially since there is a speed chamipion version of this car that is also white in colour:)
Great review as usual! I share most of your views but I disagree when it comes to the overall look. The headlights are too big and the rear lights sit two plates too high. Beside the windshield and A-pillars you mentioned the whole roof looks a bit bulky from the front. Nevertheless a great model.
i would love to have the money to spend on lots of lego like this but i cant so instead i enjoy watching sariels videos, inspired me to try find new building ways for my own mocs. definatly keeping my cheery in the pandemic keep it up on ask is will (and if so when) you do another large moc like the truck from years ago??
Speaking of sports cars in white, an NSX-R would be amazing. We already got an Japanese representation in the Speed Champions line in the form of (the admittedly lackluster - the LEGO rendition I mean, not the car itself) NISMO GT-R, so it’s possible for us to also see one in the Creators line.
Your review made me really want to get it. I thought of getting the Mustang but this one seems so much better, and I like Porsche better. Awesome video Sariel!
I really love the design! But for the perfect look of a Turbo from the 80's i did some changes on the dashboard, engine and the rims. The gray ones for the Targa are perfect to tune for the Turbo Version and afterward look like the real Fuchsfelgen.
I am quite happy with the black styling on the boxes, the Blacksmith box looks great to me. However, the black background for the instruction book seems really hard on the eyes, at least as seen here on the video.
I think the back window of the Targa is meant to look like it has wires going through it, but it doesn't look like it has anything like that on the real car.
Are you actually serious??!! The Porsche 911 Turbo’s most iconic colour in the 1980’s was white!! It’s stupid that you don’t want to buy a Lego set just because of the colour...
In your opinion, do you think that motorizing this set is possible without disturbing too much of the original design, or will it be a sin in trying to do so?
Great set, But why does this 18+ set need a blue and red beam in the frame? To help people keep the sides apart? What is the next step? Pre-built Lego sets? ;-)
Yeah, the box isn't that great I'll admit, but I don't buy Lego sets based on their box. As long as the box keeps its contents from being damaged, I couldn't care less what it looks like.
To be honest, the whole sets is prefect except the door that open way up where it should not be. Also the door hinge is kinda loose for some reason. Anyone know why?
If I had to say what I don't like about this set, i'd first be the wheels. I think the Mini wheels would look better, although I get that if they'd used new wheels for this set, it'd probably be a little more pricey. And I feel Red or Brown would look better. These early 911's look quite nice in brown...
I really like this model but I always buy technic sets for the challenge with that said I wanted to know if it’s a challenging set to build or is it more on the easy side?
Thanks for the review. I don't think the front windscreen is a new part or even a recolour. It was used in 2012 as trans clear and trans black in the recent Psiaki expert Mustang. I compared this windscreen with the Mustang's and they are the same size and shape, just different colours.
I didn't realize the loss of Creator colours until you mentioned it here. I'm more annoyed that the box is Rip tab instead of tape. Hasn't Lego realized by now that a bunch of us like to keep the boxes?!?!
Last year, i got a bit bored of the aston martin set n looked for MOC's of it, found a porche 911 moc that i liked n rebuilt it i to that, and now lego releases pretty much the same thing.. only in white instead of gray... i should've waited with rebuilding the Martin...
There's also Singer Vehicle Design, even though they work with the 964-generation 911, which came after this: the 930. Still, it's close enough, isn't it?
It's a bit disappointing that the Mustang's wheels have been reused, but it's better than nothing. They're the closest we've got to Fuchs wheels, but it would have been nice to see some new wheels come around for this set.
@Kyle Oh...my feelings for ya. Building a PC right now is the worst timing ever due to GPU pricings. I hope you will find something good! Best of luck to you.
