2:30 I disagree with your point and think it’s perfectly correct from Lego to have indicated the axle length. For example it will be useful if the model is dismantle and has to be rebuilt.
the 1:1 scale for the axle is also for people who are rebuilding it or bulding it from their own selection of pieces. I think it is also mandetory for certain pieces, like how they always show the number on the inside of pannels in the instructions, or the number of holes in beams.
Thnx for the review and giving answer to the question whether to buy this or second Porsche and instruction from Firas. Definitely going for instructrion of course
One thing totally disappointed me with this set. That it doesn't include any variants, unlike the previous Icons cars. If this set came with the option of building it as either the original LP400 Countach or the 5000QV, that would've been an istant buy for me. Especially since it shouldn't really be too hard for them to come with that alternate build. Just take the spoiler off, use single wheels at the rear and create narrow rear wheel arches. Barely any, if any at all, pieces added. As it stands, while I do like the look and I don't mind most of the inaccuracies, which can be easily excused to the LEGO nature, that lack of any customization (I'd really love to build a clean LP400 instead of the wide-bodied, winged car) drops it firmly into a "very maybe" category for me.
The original Countach model would've been ever harder to do right though, since you can't rely on the body-kit-like arches and lips to capture the major body lines, and the lack of tapering will be more apparent. Hence IMO it's understandable that they didn't give that option - but I agree, it's still a pity and a missed opportunity.
Superb review! And film-making at its best :) Unfortunately, LEGO didn't delivered on the same level ;P Although I think you were a little bit too harsh with marks ;) Still, those models are for adults not so much into LEGO, and for them that's good enough :) If you will present to those people Mustand, Countach, or Porsche they would recognize all of them, and choose the one they like in real life. They won't spot so much errors you do :)
2:29 "you only have a handful of pieces left and only two of them are axles. But Lego still showed their lengths in 1:1 to make sure you get the right ones" Yeah. Just imagine someone wished to rebuild the set, or build the set from unsorted pieces. What a shame that would be, for a Lego model... /sarcasm
Ok, I could download the instructions and look myself, but watching the quick build - no pausing - it seems to have a solid read axle. To me that is not good as it would have an affect on how it turns corners.
I can't say whether Lego is more cynical now or not but I'm sorry to say this model is probably aimed at AFOLs like me who discover Lego in their 50's and have disposable income. I don't have enough knowledge to say if it is accurate to the original car and I don't have enough interest to go looking. I also don't want extra building experience included, its nice to have extras but I wouldn't miss them. Similar to the GWPs, I don't want them and end up giving them away. I build them, display them and wait for someone like Firas to design an alternate for me. I'm sorry, its probably all my fault.
That box and the paper bags the pieces come in must be for Europe because I am in North America and just got this set and it is the old style box that opens from either side and plastic bags for the pieces.
Warning unpopular opinion ahead! I like that rear tires are made of existing parts, as that allows it to be used in MOCs as I had some of the older LEGO vehicles made of few parts and reusing them to make something different is harder, because they are large and so specialized. Making new specialized parts for each set is something LEGO did way back, and almost went bankrupt, I guess they are trying to avoid that mistake again I still thinks Firas made better replica, looks like he only lacked needed larger windshield piece
Anybody else find it interesting that in the same year we get this car similar to that MOC built from the porsche set, we're also getting a technic McLaren P1 that seems suspiciously similar to an MOC designed more than 5 years ago, and still doesn't offer any significant advancements?
This set is a major disappointment, and this is from a hardcore Lego fan who has both the Porsche Icon at the same scale and the smaller Lamborghini Countach Speed Champion to compare this one to. It just looks wrong from several angles and in detail.
A chi piace non sa nemmeno com è fatta una countach...vede il marchio "Lego" e si esalta. Appena ho visto il set ufficiale ho comprato il moc di Firas...a 30 euro...e coi restanti viene fuori una countach die cast e altro..
I can't wait to get this set. I've been reading all about this thing and FINALLY a hands on review! Good job Sariel! 👌 P.S., I just realized that this is very similar to the Countach in Cannonball Run 2😂 Except the one in the movie was red underneath the white 😂
Non è una countach. Forme e proporzioni sbagliate. Prezzo folle.
After viewing Countach in "NFS: No limits" it's hard to look at that Lego set. I guess Mike Psiaki wasn't the designer. Maybe after any modifications pop-up headlights will be reachable ? If they ruin Ferrari Testarossa again this way, I will utterly lost belief in that company.
Lego ain't bringing it just a souless cashgrab proffiting off a poor imitation of Countach design by Firas Abu-Jaber These RU-vidrs are bringing the Quality Sariel's Bricks & Pets ,RacingBrick, .... Even at my best i am not good enoth but i get close still i putt inn the effort inspired by these creators and my own experiances of life i could use some help........................... Hé i can use all the help i can get i do get good ideas sometimes
Lego ! You don't really know how to make complex vehicles ! I think it's time to give the people what they want and finally make that goddamn BMW E30 M3 ! (in red, please)
Sariel please do a review about cada cyber turbo-v or the smaller one :) Turbo-v has a great door system, see for yourself. I love that hamster and that he is right about ford > lambo.
