The 4th 12v layout. It includes trainsets 7730, 7745, and 7750 with the 7820 Mail Van. I also made a shunter nearly identical to 7760 from a spare motor from 7865 plus other parts purchased from BrickLink, but it's missing the rare blue windows and weights. The layout also includes 2x 7858, 2x 7859, 2x 7860, 1x 7861, 1x 7862, 1x 7863, 1x 7864, 1x 7866, and 1x 7867 in addition to track and some spare parts and cables.

Great operations session. I really like the automated decoupling!

Finally a video where you can also see the rare 7862 remote-controlled decoupler in action, plus a nice user scenario which shows how to use it in order to assign some freight cars to different locomotives.

At 2:39, I was thinking to myself “that never works for me, one of the motors would get stuck during the slow-speed shunting operations, especially over points” 😊

Hi, thanks for the comment and sorry for the late response! Yes, sometimes the motors get stuck for me too, but the trick is to keep the points clean and make sure the decoupler is working smoothly. Alcohol on a rag does the trick for the rails!

This was the best LEGO train era, by far. And it wasn't even aimed at AFOLs... There were sold as kids' toys back then.

I mean it was a 'toy' but still VERY expensive back then. I imagine many setups were really bought because Dad wanted to play with it!

And it had a 8-years tag. Kids today can't handle anything like this anymore.

Love seeing these. It’s rare to see a fellow American with some classic European lego trains! I’ve been working on my collection as well, this inspires to spend even more of my hard earned money 😂

It is indeed rare to see another American collecting 12v! The shipping costs and rarity make it unappealing to many when compared to the abundance of 9v in the US, but the benefits of 12v are just too good. I hope you are able to find the sets you want for your collection at a reasonable price!

Do you scout for your purchases on eBay or do you purchase through Bricklink? I’ve found that good deals can be had but they’re fewer and far between on eBay, while Bricklink has more steady but higher priced options

I have absolutely observed the same thing. I'll check both frequently, and if something looks promising and I have enough money I'll inquire (I always ask for pictures of everything first). You can find good deals on Bricklink, although they're rare as well- probably most would say I paid less than true value for my 7750, and that was from a Swiss Bricklink seller. Most of my purchases have been through Bricklink, but my 7730 I bought off eBay internationally (I probably overpaid on shipping) and I was lucky enough to find a really good deal on my 7820, $40 for the set including box, instructions, and shipping. Although it was incomplete it had all of the rare parts. My advice would be to purchase through Bricklink most of the time, although sets are typically more expensive than eBay the quality is better because you have more dedicated sellers who know what they're doing.

I am going to have to start buying some more of the classic 12v stuff and build my track, now I can afford it.. lol

Lovely setup. Would be very fun (and pricy!) to build a modular setup with deep baseplated to hide the wires with landscaping.

I've seen an Austrian seller on eBay selling basically eveything Lego 12v except for motors and locos.

Hello, Nice Layout, great Trains👍❤️ The 12 Volt system is the best Lego ever Made for Trains. I have the 7740 and the blue shunter locomotive and some Waggons. I am from Germany. Here you can geht the " stuff" easiely but also expensive. Greetings from Germany Achim

Hi! Thank you! 12v is surely the golden age of Lego trains. Do you have your sets boxed? I have seen many good deals on German local auction sites for cheaper than eBay and Bricklink, still expensive but 12v is almost always expensive. At least if you live in Germany you don't have to worry about international shipping.

Not a fan of all the wires everywhere. I have a 9V train I like very much. I think I’ll stick with that. 😎🇨🇦😜

Doesn't have controllers, which is the whole point with operating a train system. 9V is nice, though. Have both.

What are all those symbols on the control board as a newbie to this i would like an explanation
@Reker1million
@Reker1million 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for the comment! The control panel is made of individual remotes, each corresponding to a remotely operated accessory: the white and black ones are for points, red and green lights for the signals, yellow arrows for the decoupler, and red and white boom gates for the level crossing. I recently did a video covering all of these accessories, check it out if you're interested! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yWUAwK8areo.html

Green light = Go Red light = Stop On the original packaging to the 12V era sets, it says: "8-year olds". 😂
