One detail i really like about the 2023 version is the fact they went brick built with the rear wings rather than those large pieces. Something about that design choice makes it feel more genuine somehow. I'm definitely ditching the older one with the giant bat insignia on the front and those bright yellow hubcaps in favor of this new one.
@@laoruska8003no ugly premolded wings, no ugly stud shooters, no ugly inaccurate grey intakes, no inaccurate flat windshield, it is literally better in every way. Only thing that it doesn't have is a display stand, which it hardly needs
Great video i wanted see these together before i got the batcave as i own the GWP already, both nice but i like the changes the new ones has with the fins and front the knob i can live with as i prefer the hidden guns that pop up and look better, with the GWP i just took them off and put tiles in place.
New one definitely better💁♂. Great wings build. Cabin more streamlined. But that gear piece really bad. And overall thing that we got this batmobile in 2 new sets 😑. It so bad... Why are you boys keep cheering and go crazy about it⁉Yeah its better then previous one but not so much deference lets be honest . If you keep appreciate those not significant changes so high you will get little rebuild of the model over and over again and keep collecting the same thing every year
I hate to be that guy but the plates that shoot off when the guns deploy are supposed to be on the opposite sides. They're supposed to get thinner the further back they go
honestly as far as movie accurate the 2023 model wins in every category. the rear wings are better, windsheild is more accurate and the overall model is more movie accurate. however the knob on the side is a total dealbreaker.
I got the single release of the new one and it has the same mechanism for the guns. I don't know how you feel about re-engineering a set vs building it to spec, but the gear on the side bothered me too, so I just used a shorter rod and turned the 1x1 brick so that the hole isn't visible. It doesn't have the gear sticking out, so a much cleaner look, and thanks to the amount of room in the cutouts down the sides, you can still use the gun function by pushing up on the guns, themselves. I also reworked the rear end so that it doesn't have the spinning flame. I much prefer getting the cleaner, more accurate look over having the ugly gimmicks.
Tbh, if I was to get the 2023 Batmobile, I’d probably try and modify it where the guns can be deployed without the gear knob on the side. Maybe design it where the front turbine thing of the car can be spun slightly to trigger the hidden weapons feature on the Batmobile.
No no, the second one is based on the 1992 batman returns film. It has the same director and batman actor, but the batmobiles are different from the designated 1989 batmobile 2023 set
Overall the new one is a big improvement from the side windows, pop up feature, non barrel side parts, better windshield, it does lose out in the grey jet exhaust. Both of the wing designs are equally as good. The old one I would have to take the stud shooters off for a streamline look, and the new one remove the knob and just use fingers to pop out the guns from underneath.... I would even look for ways to add a hinge to the plates.
the plates removing when the guns go outare accurate, as it doesn't actually hinge/open up for the guns unless it's just your personal preference in that case I get that.
@@michyoungie its cool how they pop, but could be a preference to keep things together too... I must be remembering the movie wrong, I thought the panel slid in the side of the car and they popped up. Its been a while since I have seen the 2 movies. I had a toy batmobile in when the movies came out and the top plate spun around to have a gun flipped on the other side, was pretty cool.
@@jacobe1942 yeah that I understand, plus your right the toys have the spinning feature which made it cool as heck and having things all together. Just checked real quick in YT (the scene where Batman destroys Axis Chemicals), at least in 89 the panels do fly off and then the guns pop out. Not sure in Batman Returns where this set is from if they changed it.
@@michyoungie its lego so I think the pop off feature would be hard to make better since the hinges take so much room, a rotating one might work though... need to find a way to lose that knob on the side. (push up with fingers from the bottom? )
I bought the gwp when it was barely out I think I spent 100 maybe less thank god I did cause it’s close to 200 now brand new. I am however planning on getting the new bat cave one and also the other Batman Lego sets. Can’t miss out on those at all
Thanks for the video, would be interesting to see the comparison between the batmobile from the shadow box and the new upcoming 76224 Batmobile: Batman vs. The Joker Chase
They're both so blocky and inaccurate. Both fail to capture the curve on the side where it narrows, instead it's just 8 studs wide all along until the back section. This is made worse by having the back section 10 studs wide. Without having that curve to transition it just makes the build look like two rectangles thrown together. Considering how many great mocs there are out there, this just falls short
This was a super cool comparison to see how lego just repackages almost the same thing over and over with these popular themes once a few years pass by from the original release.
Personally I prefer the GWP. I ended up buying all the parts and putting it together myself (wasn’t going to pay the crazy secondary prices). But since I bought all the parts I was able to make a few modifications to the design (black barrels and brackets for the side air intakes, removed the stud shooters and used smooth black pieces instead. I do like that the new one has brick built bay fins on the top, but other than that than I like the original. The action feature on the new one with the knob sticking out is weird, I’d leave it off.
