So I'm not the only one who thought it looked oldschool, with the lack of panels leaving the mechanics exposed. Even though it would of course look better if it was more polished, I somewhat like it like this... I guess it's nostalgia for older sets. The price is unjustifiable, however.

I like your reviews for plethora of reasons; one that really makes it stand out is showing track tension mechanism via "transparent" track; makes understanding how stuff works (and looks cool as hell :)

Yes there is DEFINITELY room for improvement on the part of LEGO. I am pretty confident they would have taken on board some , if not all the comments; and they definitely have the resource to do something about it. Enjoyed your video, keep it up.

*Looks to the left at 8868* oh yeah, she's a beauty :D Rebuilt it recently, new hoses, oiled the pneumatics, new rubbers. Golden technic times, got it from my dad when he was working in Germany, he would always bring back to Poland some nice sets. 8868, 8460 and 8479 are my prized trio among smaller ones from the 90s. Instructions were crazy back then. "Find these 50 pieces, here's how it should look afterward, figure it out". It took days as a kid to put them together.

Always liked Lego Technic sets & definitely going to add this one to my collection!

8:23 this decrease in flexibility is good, as i had tolerance issues with the old gray track. Turns out the particle size of sand on menorcan beaches is perfect for getting Inbetween the links and causing so much friction/wear that the links seperate with some force, they would pop off.

Well I was undoubtedly gonna get this set but after watching your review of it I’m starting to have second thoughts about getting this set.

I'd love to see a traction comparison between the new tracks and the older ones. My guess is that the new ones will dig in better and have more traction on soft surfaces, but equal or worse traction on hard surfaces

As both a Lego fan and someone who works around these things and sees them stripped-down and rebuilt every day, this is an easy day 1 buy and a cool way to share with my kids what I do for a living.

To add on to the price: Eric Trax made a nice Liebherr PR776 B-model from the 42100 parts, with 2 hubs and 6 motorized functions. Might be worth checking out as 42100 is regularly discounted by 15-25%.

This Chanel is a blast from the past when I was younger I used to watch this guy all the time. at first I didn't recognize the Chanel but the name seemed familiar. so I went back to look at his older videos and I noticed a video. it was the first video I seen of him where he made a chain saw back in 2009 wow. So many good memories

That model being an old-school technic build is great(for me at least)! Nice to see how smooth it is too! Cant believe this has a gearbox in it(well now I can, given the price).

I have been waiting for this set all year, just looked it up and it's going to be $750 here in aus (my chin has carpet burn) i knew it was going to be expensive but WoW, My guess as to it being 18+ is you have to be this age to afford it (after you re mortgage the house) Top job as always..... Tbh, Im personally glad it only came with one hub as the gearbox is much more interesting and impressive especially compared to the liebherr that had motors directly to the functions.

Really appreciate the review. Despite the price simply being to much, and several flaws it's a pretty sizable/functional model. As one who hasn't had a lot of experience assembling Technic models I for one don't mind the dumbed down instructions.

I do appreciate the gearbox though, because lately gearboxes are becoming a lot more rare, instead we get axles sticking out everywhere driving functions directly

The battery access is so true , i have the mindstorm EV3, the red and black and you had to dismantle it to access the battery

At start, I didn't like too much of this set, but now that I saw on camera, it's like: WOW it's incredible.

I love how you mentioned the 8275. That’s a very nostalgic set for me. I’ve had mine since 2007. The same guy designed both of these dozers

A while back I had some issues with my powerfunctions, the emails they send you are so dumbed down even after I gave them a VERY detailed descriptions my problem. Just ordered mine Direct from Lego,I wasn't going to pay the scalpers price on eBay,Cannot wait to get it.

I'm on stage 4 of 8 at the moment but my job takes priority so hopefully finish it on my next set of days off.

I got this set for Christmas and had it assembled in two nights. After playing with it I modified the ripper so that it would go lower. The grill in mine also came with a gray technic brick instead of a black one. Do I contact Lego about it or keep it as a unique flaw?

Quite the bummer to get the exact same system for the tracks. I really wished there was a bigger variety of road wheels (available ones) that could be paired with the wider tracks. Though I doubt them to be super interesting for MOC building anyway. If you already go so big as that you need 7 stud wide tracks, you might as well use custom ones

If those extra wide tracks were black you could build fantastic snowgroomers

You stated that the new 7-wide track is less flexible than the 5-wide track. There's actually two versions of the 5-wide track. The one you used in this video was the old one which is more flexible. There is also the new 5-wide track which is less flexible and probably similar to the 7-wide track. The difference is that there are two small extra bits of plastic (about 1x1mm) right beside the hinge on the track pieces.

It may look bad, but it expresses perfectly my feelings on my ideal industral lego technic: -Chonky -"Crude" -Smooth but chonky gearbox -Industrial -Lots of industrial functions -Things work well but not everything has to work exsactoy as planned. For me, only the arocs, yhe 2011 crane,the bwe and the d11t match this ideals.

29:03 makes me immediately pause the video n stare at my 42100 set on the shelf n try imagine comparing the two sets.

Much more interesting than the Liebherr in my eyes, but the price is killing this set. Lego needs to rethink their strategy.

So, two questions: all the gears and universal joints make it seem like there would be a lot of things getting messed up. Like don't all the gears cause lots of flimsyness in the blade elevation and stuff? Also, is the blade itself flimsy? You don't have to answer cause I'm not going to get this. I was just curious (And wow had to edit this 3 times because I didn't proof-read)

I remember REALLY wanting the 8275 bulldozer when I was younger and never having the money for it... now, I have a job and will definitely be buying this one, even thought it won't be the "motorization pioneer" the old one was edit: I'll keep thinking about it

So far just watching the video with the instructions I can say I feel you on them being too simple. I recently built the 911 Turbo, first set I've done in probably 2-3 years now and i was like oh my god can we do more than 2-3 pieces per step per page XD. They need a TL;DR version of them.

Hi Sariel. I like your reviews and thoughts. Do the LEGO Group take of your (and other reviews) comments to help develop the brand? I like the look of the new tracks, we finally get a true bulldozer track. All the others have been excavator type. I like the look of the overall build it is a ture technic build. If people want a detailed model, go buy a die cast. Bit disappointed that blade can't dig or the ripper tilt or go below ground level.

Great review as always. I am just curious - what was better building experience - Liebherr R 9800 or CAT D11? From the speedbuild, it seemed to me that CAT D11 is much more interesting to build. Unfortunately, I do not have any of the sets :(

My guess on why it’s so expensive is the rights Lego has to pay to Cat. I was told by a Lego employee all the Star Wars sets are more expensive per piece than other sets due to naming rights. Still a very cool set and great video. Personally I’m a big fan of pneumatic rams than the mechanically actuated rams. More realistic and you lose all the gearing needed… the raise and lower of the blade is unbearably slow and the exposed gearing for the blade tilt feature is ugly. None the less I still hope to buy one!

I just watched a review from Held der Steine of the Happy Build 22011 RC Bulldozer. Which if you'd ask me looks better, definitely works better, has 7 motors and a remote control included, and costs just €180. List price in Germany that is, with taxes and everything included, so probably even quite a bit cheaper if you'd get it straight from China. Even when I think the CAT is far from a terrible set (just flawed and extremely overpriced), this feels like the CADA vs. Lego Ferrari again...

I have to say that despite the price, can’t help but love this set and I can’t wait to pick it up day one

Wondered why the older treads had more flex

I would certainly agree with the cons on this one. I know every Lego set has cons and many of them I can come to accept, but this one I think some of the cons outweigh the pros. Blade elevation is super slow and for being the same price as 42100, you get half as many motors. If it were less than $400 then I would probably consider it, but nah. Get 42100 if you’re on the fence between that set & this one.

I just took mine apart and did inventory with the parts list. Did you notice the number of the black pins (connector peg w friction) is in 2 groups? One is 146 of 4121715 (2780) and the other is 561 of 6279875 (61332). What is the difference in these and why did they use 2 different groups? 146+561=707 but I counted the number used in each numbered bag and there is a total of 706 pins used. There is no combination of bags that split the pins into groups of 146 and 560 pins or 145 and 561. Pins used in each bag number are bag 1=56, 2=70, 3=87, 4=88, 5=72, 6=117, 7=36, and 8=180 pins.

I completed the Liebherr and the Land Rover recently. Both boxes had parts missing, which was not ideal !! I ordered missing parts from the Lego website which worked well , I wonder if this is the case with all boxes being sold.

I think 42131 is a lot more useful as pcs donor Cause in 42100 there are 100 parts as soil and 2 plates made out of 50 pcs, so it’s only 3808 pcs as panels and mechanisms Track doesn’t count And I saw color differences with yellow connectors on blade
