Its actually because Abrahams and Hideo Kojima are friends and he made c-3po's arm red as a refrence to Venom snake (since mgsv came out as the same time as TFA)

Fun fact: there’s an explanation why C-3PO’s arm went from red back to yellow in the Last Jedi. If you listen to 3PO’s dialogue before you reached the Starkiller Base level near the end of the game, he says he’ll have to color his red arm gold, since he didn’t like the red arm.

The fact we had to get that explanation in lego is crazy and I also coulda swore there was a lego short that explained it too

The thing is the Phantom limb bonus level was actually based on supplementary material from the comics.

What I find weird is that they made such a big emotional reason for why he would wear the red arm; despite hating it, he wore it as a Momento to the robots that sacrifice their lives so he could live on. But despite that he just gets rid of it or paint over it in the next films

C-3PO has a red arm because some idiot broke his arm off off stage and they had to find a quick replacement and they were about to shoot the scene so they brought in some weird red pole and used a machine to shape a hand out of it and then put it where C3PO's arm was supposed to be and then they shot the scene.

The actor who plays C-3PO has stated that the creator of the force awakens gave him a red arm to show that he's been through alot. Just like the silver leg in a new hope. (When i typed leg, it autocorrected to Lego😅)

I am still freaking out that the droid Anakin built outlived him. I still remember seeing him, without gold plating, on Tatooine, still being added to when Anakin was a child. Now, Anakin is gone. His children grown old and gone too. And C3PO still wanders the galaxy. Tho I'd rather pretend the sequels never happened.
