If nothing else this proves that there was Much, MUCH more thought put into the minifig-scale tumbler than there was this re-released rehash. Unless you ABSALUTELY NEED a UCS Tumbler in your life, do not buy this one, it's just not worth $200.
Love the Joker and Batman Minifigures. . . Just wish there was a third figure in both of the Dark Knight trilogy sets. . . For instance in the small tumbler sets I wish they had included a Rachel Dawes. . . And in this set a Two-Face. . . Overall this set I can pass on because all I really want is the Batman and Joker
Honestly at this point LEGO really should just make a dual molded Batman cowl piece so that we can start getting proper heads for the different incarnations of Batman. Other than that and the lack of a third minifigure (Harvey Dent Two Face) this set is great!
Looks fantastic! They should've included a minifig for Rachel Dawes though. I hope they give us a UCS version of The Bat aerial vehicle from The Dark Knight Rises. Could include Batman, Bane, and Catwoman in that set.
I suspect you built the stand backwards. The Tumbler should probably be angled upward, to evoke its ability to leap like in the movies. Angled upward the plaque might be more visible.
Hey Ash, I bought the smaller Tumbler and I'm pretty happy with it. I love the dark knight and really want the figures for this set. How much do you think they'll cost on Bricklink? Should I just buy the whole set?
Great review, Ash 👏👏👏 I agree about the gargoyle and it needed an extra figure to put it over the older set and the smaller one ...I want those Minifigures tho but probably going to sell for more than the last one ...
Great video, will be getting it myself. I think a Harvey dent figure with a swappable hair piece and his two face printed on the back would have gone so well with the line up and I agreee about the figure stand, it should've been an i-beam since their final confrontation took place in a construction site
My favorite Batman vehicle for my favorite Batman series, holy cow is this thing amazing. I know it's not specifically your favorite movie, but even you have to admit this is pretty incredible for how accurate it is.
Personally, I only have two problems with set. Batman desperately needed a new head with normal eyes. He could have also used some arm printing as well. Secondly, there should have been at least 2 additional figures with this set. Nonetheless I'll get it as I've missed out on the 2014 version.
I got the new minifig scale tumbler last week and I'm happy with that, but I expected more for the new larger tumbler. It needs working doors. A functional transformation into the Bat-Pod as a play feature. A Dark Knight Two-Face Minifig would be better than any of the existing versions of Two-Face. And there really should be a technic figure scale (so to-scale to the vehicle) figure of Batman to fit inside this vehicle should have been included.
The Tumbler doesn't really have doors per se. The entire roof section and front canopy windshield is supposed to segment and part away like a flower blooming before lifting up entirely but this would've been too difficult to engineer without it being way too fragile.
The Tumbler itself doesn't have doors, the roof lifts up and backwards, which isn't really possible to do in Lego without it collapsing in on itself. It's basically impossible for the Batpod to actually eject the way it does in the film, since other than it it being two wheels and a chassis much of it essentially defies the laws of physics and magics out of the Tumbler, so they definitely can't do it in Lego. There's also not really any need for a play feature in an incredibly fragile display set. I don't think a scaled Batman figure would be worth including, I can't see it strongly appealing to much of the target audience of this kind of set. It likely wouldn't look very good, would be huge and would use *a lot* of pieces, increasing the price on an already expensive set.
I already got the smaller tumbler I honestly wouldn’t buy this if I did it would only be for the joker minifigure and honestly this goes for the other 1989 sets if they were to do a smaller build like they did for the tumbler I think it would be perfect buy there just too big in my opinion
I really wish they included a third mini figure. A Harvey dent with an alternate face print of two face would’ve been amazing or even a commissioner Gordon
Lov the car but I don't like the yellow struts hanging having the 1:18 Black Hotwheels model I know there spoiler support arms but on this there just hanging a round ring that let you plug them onto the main body would work, If I buy this will sort something out or take them off, till I found a fix... Good Review!
