Today, I'm very excited to be reviewing what is now one of my all time favourite LEGO sets - the new Batman the Animated Series Gotham City set! This will be available for insiders beginning on April 1st for LEGO Insiders and April 4th for non-insiders members! This will retail for $299.99 USD or $389.99 CAD!

The only thing I feel that this set is missing is a reference to Phantasm,Mask of the Phantasm has been my favorite DC ANYTHING for YEARS.

@Ashnflash @6:57 the reference is even darker... the dark green 2x3 wedge plate is removable. Check out what's underneath. @10:45 I wasn't counting Selina's Kitty amongst the 30 hidden characters! Thanks for pointing that out, I'll correct it to 31 @25:22 Very observant!! The backside is odd for a few reasons: it is meant to make it easeier to follow the building instructions, it balances out the left and right wedge plates across the entire set, and it needed to cover all of the seams between the large red plates to prevent any light bleeding through from behind. Including our new red-orange color was just a bonus :D

Hi @joeldbaker ! Thanks for watching the video! I just looked underneath the tombstones.... I'm in shock 🤣 - I might just have to do a video talking about that. Glad I could point out Isis. Was I right about the other character being Nora? Gotta make sure for when I cover all the references :P And thanks for explaining the back. Makes a lot of sense now! I'll be sure to mention that. Also, not sure if you saw, but I wrote you on Insta. If you have a chance, I'd love to set something up. Email works too :)

Doubt it. They seem to be based off of the original line of Lego Batman sets. The joker has the wrong hairpiece for this set but it looks really close to the OG minifigure

I didn't expect to love the set this much. I haven't even seen the BTAS yet, but I imagine it would be such a journey to buy the set and open the bags, when you get to the episode itself. I wish I could get it. So glad to see how much joy it brings you, I can feel it through the screen, and it gave me a warm feeling. Absolutely wholesome

Wow, Lego really knocked this one out of the park... So much detail and variety of textures and little references and side builds! (I did not think the batmobile was going to pop out) I can only afford to focus on castle themes but is so nice to live this through youtube... as an art set really takes the fun to another level. As noted one of the wall mounts is upside down,

Nice build! I like your style, it looks like you pay attention to parts placement (eg. mold marks, lego text). Also, the clean and even application of stickers.

Interesting how they have made the batwing and the batman cowl piece black here, but they went with dark blue for the micro batmobile and now minifig scale one too! Wonder if that was ever a discussion during the design and why they went in that direction

First, and foremost, sorry to hear about the box being damaged. For many things (especially the majority of the RC kits), I don't care about the boxes, as I throw the great majority of them away...but, when it comes to 'speciality' items, a pristine box is important. For my Gotham City set, I, literally, went through their entire selection, and picked the box that was in the absolute best condition.

I reeeeeeaaaaally want the minifigures omg, they look great! I had a feeling Harley’s face was gonna suffer from the white-print-on-red-base curse, but she still looks great! I don’t have the $ or space for the entire set, maybe one day I’ll be able to get the figs.

11:44 I'm pretty sure Technic is your kryptonite, that hanging piece is upside down I think... It wouldn't work, just damage the pieces and leave your beloved set prone to smash on the floor.

I still have issues with the new cowl mold. On paper the dual mold is awesome, but in execution I feel like the mold just ended up too big. It looks too fat when it’s on his head to me

I'm mostly a Marvel collector who dabbles in botanical stuff, speed champions, and modulars. However, this set made me realize i'd love a DC modular! It's probably a little weird next to the sanctum, Avengers tower, and the daily bugle, but oh well. Wayne Manor + batcave (like the Gringotts bank), the Belfry, Daily Planet, Arkham Asylum... There's some huge potential there

While I have no money for this set, or space, or nostalgia for the show, I can't deny this is an incredible build. The build design, the details the colours are all beautiful. I'd love to see what other properties could work in this design. I could imagine another Hogwarts Castle fitting well: Castle buildings, underground areas behind a rock structure, the lake, Quidditch pitch, grounds and forest could all be included.

I have a theory that the new bat cowl was designed with the animated series in mind Its the eyes for me i also wanna point out the cancalled flash set that then became the 1989 set originally had the older long ear mask So the keaton minifig originally didnt have the new mold I could be wrong But its somthin to think about

I don't like DC, but I think the concept is Awesome, and I would love for Lego to make this as a Marvel Set whit New York, we could get a lot of references and different buildings too, of stuff that we have never gotten in Lego before, like the Baxter Building, Fisk Tower, etc.

I really hope they include robin again ik in the 2006 and other sets they added him but on the Lego site they don’t even have him they kinda just overlook em so I hope he’s gonna be in future sets
