An overview of the Weston-Super-Mare Brick Festival which took place on Sunday 14th May 2023. This turned out to be my most successful Lego sellers event to date.
Was having a scroll through old videos and realised this was the show I was at. Seeing my builds was pretty cool, for reference, I did the forces of the yellow legion, lovely to meet you mate, glad you liked it!
Thank you for taking us with you Iain. Always so pleased to see you do so well. Great displays. We love the Starwars displays and we're very impressed with the Bick Heads 10:06 Count Dooku, Anakin/Darth Vader, Kenobi and Quill from Mandelorian 😍👍 I'd love to follow the creators social media accounts so many talented builders there ❤❤❤ Get your feet up 👏👏👏
Thanks Jai - glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for naming the Brickheadz I couldn't. I did think they were Star Wars related but I didn't like to say, just in case I got it wrong!
Well done and thank you for the tour of some of the displays. I’m sure you were really pleased with how the day turned out despite the 5 hour drive time.
Hi Iain, it was good to meet you yesterday. I bought the two Scooby Doo sets and a polybag from you. It certainly was crowded! Some of the other traders were asking silly money for some sets, I couldn't believe how much my POTC ships are apparently now worth. Not sure if they sold at those prices though. I also spent a couple of hours at the Helicopter Museum just a few minutes away, a good day out. Roy
Hi Roy - lovely to meet you yesterday, and thank you for buying some sets from me. Sorry I couldn't chat longer, but I was just so busy. Glad you had a good day out
Wow I can't believe how much stuff you sold. Well done prices must have been spot on you have to be realistic as people are not stupid. As you said you will soon need an estate car.Well done once again and keep the vidoes coming.
Thanks Adam. Even I was amazed at how quickly my sets were selling. They were literally flying off the table. I couldn't keep up at one stage! All good though 😁
Love this video! Love seeing other things at the event but loved seeing you do so well! Hope we get a profits round-up video soon....well deserved mate!
Well what can I say, you’ve pretty much summed it all up. Was a great day, great venue and also for myself … the best selling one so far, which let’s face it … what it’s all about. Was great to finally meet you and like I said to you … I guess good for you to put a face to all my comments. Unlike you though, I had the MacDonalds on the way home. 😂 Enjoy filling your stocks up over the next couple of months and I’ll hopefully see you towards the end of the year. Keep up the great videos my friend. 👍
Hi Lee, really nice to finally meet you. I always appreciate your comments. Glad to hear you had a successful day as well. We did stop and have a McDonald's on the way home. It has to be done! Hopefully see you at another brick festival soon.
@@iainsbricks Like I said in our chat, just keep doing what you’re doing … I’ll always be watching!! 👍 Yeah it was a great day as we’ve said, had today off work to empty the car, sort the sets out and to work out what went. Took 114 sets with me and sold 88, so definitely for me the best one so far!!
Another great sales experience Iain 👌 , I’m going to the Newport one end of May to scope out and potentially looking to do something similar next year. Your videos have been very inspiring. Keep up the good work.
The Brickheadz you mention at 10:00 and didn't know who it was - Cloud Strife (left) and Sephiroth (right) which are characters from the Final Fantasy ;)
That looked like a great festival. Are you planning on going to the Reading Brick Show on June 10/11th? After watching your vids from your festivals, it inspired me to actually go along to one, so I might see you there!
@@MinifigJez It will be interesting how things go for you at Reading. I've always been put off going to a 2 day event, as 1 day is usually enough for me!
@@iainsbricks Yes, if you sell out in a few hours (like Weston) not much point in 2 days!!! I've never been to any brick shows or festivals before, so I'm just going to this one as a punter to see what it's like Which means, I'll end up spending too much money instead of making money like you!
Great video as always. Was wondering if any people pay by cash and as such do you need to take a load of change with you? Might try one myself one day.....one near me next April in Blackpool. Might have enough stock by then!
Hi Gary - about one quarter of my sales at this event were by cash. I always take a float of £50 in change to these things as you can go through quite a few pound coins during the day.
Hi Iain, can i ask what brand of label machine you use? your labels look great, (so much better than my 'post it' notes lol also the polathene bags? ive done a few toy fairs, but hoping to try selling at my first brickfest event in 2024
Hi. I just use a sheet of 3x7 printer labels on an A4 sheet, and I use my ink jet printer to print them. No particular brand. The zip lock bags I just get from ebay.
You're going to run out of stock at this rate Iain, well done on such a successful day. Also wondered if you'd explored using the QR code option for SumUp on some of those larger sets/sales as I think that's 0% fee. (buyer scans your QR code in person and pays you from their phone rather than taps the reader)
Hi Graham, yes I am starting to run out of sets that I am wanting to sell at the moment. I normally like to hang on to sets for about 2-3 years after they have retired but at this rate I'm having to sell sets that only retired last year! I hadn't thought about doing the scan code option - it may just over complicate things , especially when I'm busy. Sumup only take 1.69% so it's not too bad.
Wow excellent sales. Looking forward to seeing your breakdown video. I think with all the profits you definitely need to invest in a transit van for the next show! Did you get any tempting offers for the Green Grocer?
Thanks David. My next show is in Bournemouth in September. It's fairly local so I should be able to get help from a friend to bring an extra car full of Lego along! I did have one woman who was very interested in the Green Grocer but she wasn't really prepared to haggle.
Hi Gary - Brick Festivals are a IK only thing I'm afraid- I'm sure there are these type of Lego events in the US as well though. Check Lego forums and fan pages and I'm.sure there will be an event near you.
@@iainsbricks thanks for replying. I went to the Lego event in.corona, Queens Hall of,Science thinking I would be able to buy sets, but it was for children and no sets. I’m looking for a Lego event with vendors and sets for sale.
Is the Weston Super Mare Brick Festival the furthest one you have been to? Would you consider going to a further one, maybe even one were you might have to stay overnight in a hotel? Good to hear your card reader worked ok, when you opened the video standing next to the venue the first thing that popped into my head was the thought of “I wonder if his card reader will work”.
Thanks Barry. Weston was a similar travel time to Milton Keynes. At the moment I probably won't be travelling much further afield as I seem to do ok sales wise at the ones I go to. Really pleased that the card reader worked perfectly.
Hello do you need to be a sole trade or ltd company or is it just rent a few tables for the day? Theses seems really fun todo something different many thanks
@@iainsbricks that seems fair enough are they normally always full? Your the only person I’ve seen go to them is there a website I can find more info? Would be cool to do one in the future thanks Ian
