Do you know if the circular space station are to simulate artificial gravity by spinning? Then it makes no sense, edpecially the bio dome that is upside down eventually. (Anyway, rip plants when you open the glass roof in space to access them) or is it to be a sturdy construction that you slowly rotate to align docking points with the planet under you? That would make more sense
The Technik sets coming in March also cross-fit with modules and can be used along with the City sets. Great theme and great cross-theme range of products. If I had any kids I would have bought them a few of those sets for sure.
This theme gives me hard-core power miners 2024 vibes, the build style, the little monsters, the outfits, omg I'd be obsessed if I had these when I was a kid🔥🔥🔥
Wow, I would have LOVED this when I was a kid. They did such a good job with the designs, play features, and even the story these sets tell. I makes me wish I had kids so I could buy these for them.
I was sitting through the entire video thinking about the Seatruck and the general base building layout. It's a great concept and the possibilities are endless when combined with Lego. I would love to see them doing a Subnautica collaboration subtheme for the space series. It feels like a match made in heaven.
@SleepyFen I wouldn't not be able to buy a Subnautica themed lego set. That would be so cool. They could even have a whole line because there are so many cool vehicles and modular bases in the subnautica games.
I love the connection all these sets share. Those stickers showing the station and base commenting is a great way to get kids thinking about stuff like that. And having everything powered by those crystal energy cylinders is another great idea. Giving them all that direct sense of connection helps expand the potential kids could find in them.
If there’s one thing I can say that I really like about this new over-theme, it’s that the modules look like they could be very easily replicated for the sake of creating one’s own interiors. I could even see stand-alone modules in a second wave, or a box set with just pieces to make three or four of your own modules.
This is the first time a review makes me actually want to buy sets, even though I haven't really bought or cared for City for the last few years. After part 1 of the review, I got the interstellar spaceship, and it really is enjoyable to build, cool to play around with, and looks amazing ! Now I just want to buy the entire wave, and turn it into a big mobile space base like the 2018 arctic one, with several carriages. This line is truly great and will most certainly be instantly loved by kids and adults alike !
The space train really reminds me of the seatruck from Subnautica Below Zero. Honestly this whole set feels like Subnautica in outer space, which is a good thing. Needs more leviathan class alpha predators.
7:59 You're very much right with that, it'd be an EASY fix to make that lift up and down with only a few technic elements: Piece 6114979 (long gear tooth rack thing) Piece 6173197 (sleeve for the above) Piece 6170153 (short, thick spiral worm gear or the longer, thinner one) A few long axels and gears If they forewent with that orange ramp piece for a brick built one with a hole in it for an axel, they could've easily made a thin, hidden mechanism that lifts it up and down. If you look at the play features of the Technic Car Transporter (42098) they did a very similar thing with the upper levels. Edit: the brick built ramp would also look a lot better as it'd be a flat surface for the force of the thrusters to push off of, rather then all the force just going up the ramp.
Great points on the Space Base: the transporter should transport the modules, so should the crane. The launch pad's height should be adjustable. Great playsets but room for more interactions.
That Space Train really reminds me of the Seatruck from Subnautica: Below Zero. It’s looks very similar and has the same idea with the modular compartments.
They don’t need to step out to space to go to other module, as you can see, there is “door” on each pod connected to the ring. The ring is a long circular corridor hallway for space mini figure to go around, just limited by pieces count, a proper passage cannot be recreated 😅
I started this collection, and bought some of the sets, because of your last video. Now I feel the need to complete the collections because the combinations look awesome. Thank you for the amazing video!
I'm happy to hear that the best sets of this wave are the smallest, most affordable ones. 😊 But personally, I'm gonna save up for the Friends space base--that looks way better than the City base.
Im the exact oppisite. That space base with its interesting shape and modular nature is easily the highlight for me, while the ground base feels too clunky and similar to rocket launch sets we've gotten before
Well, we have the same idea, as my 5 year old has the 3 sets that you recommended, plus one extra mech. These are truly amazing sets, and we have a ton of fun playing with them.
Yeah getting the whole wave. The modular piece was introduced in 2019, which means the junction from the 2019 lunar station will allow for even cooler creations with these new modules. Fun times ahead.
I bought the spacecraft and the smaller rover, and my son loves them, we spend a lot of time playing with them. I'm also planning to buy the bigger rover and the base as well, seen in this video, which would make the set complete in my eyes. Thank you for the great review!
I really like the rover. As a kid I had the Big Trac and this brings back those memories. No place for the orbital space station but like that design and the play features.
i think you are right, the smaller sets in this line are the better ones. very happy with the Interstellar spaceship after i did some very minor tweaks to it
Just letting you know, the ramp IS at least compatible with the other two ships, including the 4+ one. The interstellar spaceship even has these little white nubs that line up perfectly. Also, the base itself can connect with the Friends' base, making a much larger compound.
The interstellar spaceship is by far the best value for money I got from lego for the past years . Bought it for 16€. Now when I compare it to most of my SW ships of the same size its half the price and much slicker design. Comparison to jedi star fighters for example. Man SW sets are so expensive. Cant wait for more Space sets in the city line.
There's so much potential with those modules. No doubt that someone is going to buy two space bases and connect them together to make a super base. Beyond that, it could be used to expand your base with whatever buildings arrive in the next wave of City Space sets. Maybe a garage, lab, or greenhouse.
Gotta love a good interlocking segments spaceship design, taken straight from the Blacktron sets so a nice retro feel! Does make me wonder why the GWP blacktron cruiser set was made to connect with clips instead of technic pins when these sets use the pins option.
8 year old me would love this. 36 year old me still loves this lol im already imagining just how bit of an outpost i can build with multiple space base sets and just connect them all together with the individual pods
Thanks so much for covering these with the depth and quality of the adult sets! These sets are amazing and truly shine from the full Tiago treatment. Now we just have to ask ourselves, how many of the space sets can we justify getting if we don't have kids...
This just makes me want to be a kid again... Or have a kid I could buy all this for. What an awesome theme with so many opportunities for play and expression!! 😁 All of the adventures kids these days can have..... What an unreal set for the imagination
Play value of these sets is the most impressive thing about them. Also, is there a video game of this series yet?? With all the mini robots, modular parts, vehicles, energy packs, mechanical suits and mini vehicles I see great potential for an openworld adventure game.
That bike! It’s book 6, bag 8, in the instructions for anyone who might want to look those up and pop together a couple copies for themselves. I literally dropped what I was doing and moc’ed something up with a booster seat for baby-classic-space to drive.
Another awesome review! To me this is the _long awaited_ return of the *Space Theme,* and the design and gimmicks of those sets are so great. Beautiful builds.
I bought this whole wave. Luckily I have a 3 and 4-year-old to "justify" it, but the sets live in my room, lol. My only major gripe is the smaller aliens, they always fall and have no studs to connect. We need a large "mothership" and maybe some larger terrain sets.
Definitely worth the wait! Great review! Perhaps the sticker in the base tells the story of how the radiance of the crystals affects the digestive system of the Space crew? I found the polybag at an online store and it should arrive before the weekend starts. If the leaks are true, I would advice to wait with buying these sets a little longer as there will be (classic) Lego space set available as a gift with purchase later this month.
I got the 6 wheel rover and the ring space station and they are really cool. I also think the system/technic sets in the same line is the biggest crossover event in history. I’m very excited and I wishlisted the cargo VTOL set.
I hope Lego continues with these sub themes within city theme. The detail on every set from the builds to the minifigures to the extra features and small side builds. Can we please have a city sub theme of rock raiders??
So far ive gotten the 4+ Spaceship set, 2 Interstellar Spaceship sets and the Space Explorer Rover. I want to make a larger Spaceship like the old classic Lego Space sets.
Now imagine how big a spaceship must be to load the rover into! 😀 I like the style of the series, but I think there is a size mismatch between vehicles, spaceships and stations. I think the series also lacks a big spacehip with cargo room and a bay to load a vehicle or small shuttle into.
The box makes it seem like it's supposed to be a permanent living quarters, like the ISS. After seeing the rest of the sets, I think the better story is that it's a transfer hub. Stuff is sent from Earth to Mars orbit, where it's connected to the station. From there, smaller trips are made to bring each component down to the planet's surface. In the meantime, some of the modules are outfitted as temporary living spaces.
2:05 - I thought, that these pieces was firstly introduced in Nexo Knights theme... not Ninjago... But awesome video - I've been looking forward to see this since the first part was released :D
Great review. Will you do any more tutorial videos? I love the series and would love to see tips on making larger vehicles and also interactive play elements. Thank you!
Lego city space sets are amazing This space station is awesome I like the space train setup I wish the commander minifigure was in this set Should have had a stand, and should be cheaper The base set is cool. However instead of the launch thing, the pieces should have been used to make a bigger spaceship This shouldn't have been the main big set of the wave how it is I wish the captain minifigure wasn't exclusive to this set The tower would work well for an airport control tower It's too expensive
The smaller sets are way better when you are tight on space. The construction mech is so useful too! Lots of parts to work with and a sticker sheet that’s useful on custom stuff
The Modular Space station reminds me of one thing, THE ENDURANCE, and the 20 bucks spaceship is the shuttle cooper used when he jumped into gargantua, is this a 10th anniversary easter egg?
This is great for kids, but I also hope LEGO will release more space sets with real space stuff;rockets, satellites, telescopes, etc. I would love to see JWST
Ive been going through my old Classic Space sets trying to rebuild them and finding some pieces missing. I know some of the tail fins I broke by stepping on them (ouch!) I do like the bulky shuttle in the base set, the design seems more thought out and sleeker with the fins and it does have the extra utility than the Interstellar Explorer. My main gripe about the latter ship is that it doesn't have any landing gear. But I watched another Lego channel and he modded it with landing gear and a few more bells and whistles that I may just pick it up to mod myself.
