You could probably build a whole street with just a few of this set. Normally I'm not interested in alternate builds but this is a great implementation of them
that sounds interesting. you could even call it a small sea side town or recreational homes at a lake, where are strange mix of historic preservation and additions created a unique look that people started likeing and thus became the standard.
I originally thought this build was my least favorite of the three, but after watching you build it, I decided I like all three versions equally. This is an unexpectedly amazing set.
This could go down as one of the best 3-in-1 house sets ever with how good the alternate models are as well as the main build. LEGO really needs to keep doing these!
This is a fabulous little set. Love how the designers took the time to give the 3 builds the ability to close up or be open backed. Adds so much more to the value and varied building experience. Great review.
This is a serene looking setting. I 100% prefer the main build, but all three builds offer a good amount of variety. So you can pick your preferred type of architecture/build and still be happy with the end result. Often times in the past the "alternate" builds were strictly throwaways, or afterthoughts at best.
i love all these nice, cheaper "normal" houses weve started getting recently. could start making a nice lego city lite with all these 3-in-1 creator houses if you dont wanna spend so much on modulars
Creator has always better than city in this regard. They have has at least 1 or 2 houses per year since 2007. However, there were shifts in style in 2011 and 2015. In 2011, minifigures were added and baseplates were lost but the builds remained mostly similar. In 2015, sets got more expensive, smaller, and less enclosed but were more detailed and had more small parts compared to bricks. I personally prefer the older styles since the new sets are much less a blank canvas and are harder to MOC with since there are so many tiles and plates compared to bricks. Additionally, having baseplates and being larger is always good.
This alternate builds reminds me of another alternate build from 4996: Beach House that came out 15 years earlier. These sets are the epitome of their era with the older one being cheaper (by $10 adjusted for inflation), larger, and containing a baseplate. While the new one is more detailed and contains minifigures (which is good but should not cost extra), I prefer the old one, especially the in the context of being a creator set. Its much harder to build anything substantial since there are less bricks but so many plates, tiles, and small pieces. There is probably a happy middle ground for me but it certainly is closer to the sets of the era of 2005-2014, the period following the dark ages.
After seeing all 3 builds, this is what I call a perfect set. When I’m thinking to buy yet another small creator house set (and likely not just one), without ever needing any more, I believe that’s mission accomplished by the designers. 10/10, one of very best “city” sets and I dare say one of the very best designed sets. Each of the builds holds its own and doesn’t pale in comparison with the others. Amazing.
This set besides amazing builds also is great as building starter set. You can learn A LOT while building all of these and then as final test you can try to build one yourself! Solid ammount of windows, doors and bricks!
Jang, I believe there is enough pieces in that set to make a great narrow modular building - It would be awesome to see how you could come up with your own Custom Build. You are also allowed to add some technic pin hole pieces if you want. I hope this sparks a great video idea.
As soon as this set was announced I wanted to buy it just for this b model, love this narrow tall building, just what I needed to squeeze between in a tight space. Really nice details, appreciate the printed 2x2 tiles and blue torso with classic space logo, for it's price it's a really good set.
I love this. Will be the second set I buy as an adult (returning to lego) after the bookshop modular I've got. I'd love to live in a house like this set.
That is pretty well done. I actually like the tall version more, but this form isn't bad. Getting 2 of these, leaving them in tall form, and putting them back to back would probably look good, though you'd probably want to change the interior and change the water to street or yard on the back side. I think that is some sort of tall standing flower in a pot on the top floor, but not sure what. The train and the spaceship are great! I am really strongly considering getting this set at some point. Thanks for the review!
I too also like this scale, fits nicely with $10-$20 sized vehicle sets imo. With modern pieces and colours, I think generic lego structures like a house can now be quite fun little sets to collect even for adults. Imagine a lego town of modular commodities that are just $50~ each instead of $300 city buidlings.
Great set and options, i like it a lot. Thank you for making all builds and videos on them, i appreciate you informing us on what we can get out of our purchases.
Increased price and increased value, as you say, is the key. It’s one thing to just ramp up prices, but making sets better goes some way to justifying that.
I saw those clips in the beginning and thought the were just because they had no other fitting parts available. The transformation feature completely blew my mind.
was there live for this build since I was really looking forward to it and it was such a nice time. Thanks for the great content and coverage always making me feel like I'm keeping up with Lego like in the good old days of the magazine as a kid. Keep at it!
I’ll have to buy the pieces to make that classic Space ship. My heart just melted seeing that! This is a nice build, especially when it’s the shorter closed version. Looks much better that way.
All 3 builds are impressive which is rare for a 3-in-1. Unfortunate that they are all variations of “cozy houses” though but not really an issue since they are different enough.
One other thing you could do with the tall house, is buy a second set, swap the bar and clip pieces on the second version, then combine them into one building (the same can be done with the Cozy House build by removing the hinge plates and mirroring the second build).
This is a lovely set, all three builds are really well done. Currently the creator line is one of the last Lego product lines where the classic Lego spirit is alive and good value is to be found.
Now that's what I like to see from Lego! Utilizing the leftover parts to add even more things to one of the smaller alternate builds. Too many times with these 3 in 1 sets, a lot of parts are left over that giving a little imagination, could be used to great effect like in this set. Kudos to the designer for going above and beyond.
Thanks Jang - this is a great set, it reminds me a lot of the very early '560 Town House' - which I've just built again after watching your 3 reviews 👍
