LEGO Emerald Night Review - LEGENDARY SET 

I’ve never actually owned the emerald night set but it’s been a really great looking set and I’ve always wanted it and I STILL want it. The only complaint I really have with the set is the side rod color. Black is a nice color, but it would look nicer with some gray side offs so they pop out more. Loved this video, you continue to inspire me!

Nice review. Metroliner all the way for me (though I only have the 10001 version). Just something classic about the lines.

I wish LEGO would make more train sets like this it takes along time to make but looks amazing when finished and looks detailed i wish LEGO made a train set like this in 2021 or 2022

I had the emerald night ever since I was 9 years old. heck it was my first Lego train set as a kid. I use to push it and added power functions to make work. But unfortunately, the engine had a lot of friction and it ran slow. so I disassembled it completely in 2019. when I got the Bricklink studio, I made a new Emerald night moc that is 8 studs wide, has BBB xl driving wheels, and an authentic look of the a3 pacific Flying Scotsman. It is now finished on the studio. all I have to do is order the parts. It will include power functions, lights, custom rods and decals, a BMR Knuckle coupler, and sound.

This set is so nice.

Just ordered this for $800 sealed in box. It was a lot but this is my favorite kit of all time. I used to own it when I was younger and I cannot wait to experience it all over again from an older age!

I got this set when I was nine, and I haven’t stopped loving it since. But since I was nine, I did a truly horrible job of applying the decals and have recently gotten some replacements.

I don’t have the emerald night train because it is very expansive. So thank you for your nice review, very good!!

I got this when it came out with the Power Functions (and the then new Flexi tracks) - fantastic set! I agree this is by far the best train that Lego have made - it has aged well for being 12 years old now. Sometimes a few running issues with the gearing beneath coming out of alignment, but other than that a quality set!

Lovely set! Still looks quite need given its age although I would love to see them revisit it in future. An updated version that was able to use all the new elements created since 2009 would be amazing, and I know they could pack a lot more fine details in especially around the front end.

Omg, I've been waiting for this train review. Now you have 2 of the best Lego train sets ever made, the other being the crocodile locomotive. Can't wait for the vid. I ended up getting the lepin version due to my lack of money, but it still looks great. PS: I'm setting up my channel sometime next week.

I actually got the emerald night as a kid; the only problem was that I didn't have any track so it ended up getting destroyed. I've slowly been collecting the parts to rebuild it back to its former glory. I may need to steal some wheels back from a moc...

I have 4 of these sets, and used them to convert to a Tornado class (blue of course), 9F and 4T as well as keeping one as is with a few minor fixes for the jamming cylinder gear. Great review, thank you, not at the level of your models, but showed how much could be done with lego.

I own this, but I want to tear it apart and make my own A3 MOC. Might have to buy large wheels, though, haha.

I had no idea back when I bought this set as a kid, just how lucky I'd feel as an adult to own it. It's shocking to me just how expensive it now is to purchase even a used one... I made the mistake of taking it apart and mixing it in with the family's big old bin of legos, and that might have been the end of the story for who knows how long, but especially after my purchase of the 10277, my desire to have my old lego trains was rekindled and I rebuilt the two sets I once had, the 7038 and the 10194. Luckily I was able to use the online pdf of the instructions and a bit of patience to resurrect my old sets, and the Emerald night is whole again. My sticker applications from when I was 8 or 9 years old leave much to be desired, but they suffice. I've slowly made various modifications to it in places where the original design felt lacking, and I had parts on hand to improve it with. Bit by bit, it's become a very attractive model. Eventually my plan is to convert it to 9v track power, by creating some sort of electrical pickup system in the tender. I missed the 9v era, but all my normal electric trains (non lego) run off track power and I hate needing to change batteries.

Hey do you approve of the Lepin version of the emerald night? This is so weird, I was just watching a bunch of emerald night videos and you just coincidentally make one, I’m so happy! But this train was took away from me by my dad and he donated when I as a kid :(, and it pains me that I only have the chance to buy the Lepin version and I’m just really depressed, I try so hard to make thit Hogwarts express to make it look like the emerald night but I cannot, your very lucky to have all these trains and even the emerald night, I just hope one day some RU-vid with an emerald night will give it away, I hope I have a chance, anyway, have fun my guy! Your the best LEGO tis aim guy ever! Be very grateful you have this and don’t need to worry about your dad taking away your legos man.

I wonder if you will fix the jolting of the motion, clean up the gap with the fire box, clean up the front foot plate, add a smokebox dart, do cab detailing, and make the set of wheels under the cab covered. I know that the tender will change tho

This set was pretty good in my opinion but I also think that in some places like the tender, the front of the running board, and the placement of the front lamp could definitely be improved but overall I think the factor that would persuade me to buy this would be the coach, I can’t wait to see how you improve this set Sincerely, Fred

Hmmmm, I have a Challenge for you. You don’t have to but it Would be so cool. Build a lego big boy. With the motors in the engine. ( as in it moves the wheels instead of a tender or truck ) you don’t have to.

The only real problem with this set is that a gear inside can pop out of place and cause the wheels to jam, and it takes ages to rebuild...

Where did you get it? I looked everywhere on ebay and in all Toy Stores in Austria. On ebay I found only one Emerald Night but at the Price of 800€. How did get one? I am amazed.

honestly it's odd, u start out saying it's an amazing set, and then nitpick tons of tiny details. some people are spoiled by lego lol. had too much
