I was a huge advocate for red wings, and I have to say the trans neon orange wings you chose are the best option-you nailed it! I love the new builds and the whole train, and I can't wait to see you add to it in the future!
The driving wheels are supposed to be quartered (90 degrees) from each other. For example: if one side is down, the other should be facing right or left. This prevents the coupling rods from tilting. try to add a skeleton onto the cowcatcher if possible.
I just did this on my own lego trains... wow... how did not know this!! I always set the coupling rods on opposite sides, just like Robin did here. Just tried putting them at that quarter offset, and they don't tilt or buckle anymore!!!!!! Idk how I'm just learning about this, but thank you lol!!
Absolutely brilliant robin! I wonder if you could put a witch flying ahead casting a spell to make the train come alive! 😂😂 I assume that would collide with the many bridges of brick Nottingham. 😂
Considering the sentient train is driving itself, you could convert the front cab into a small prison cell with a creature holding onto the bars looking to escape.
Yay, my first "Badoing!" for the feather flames! you could maybe put a glow in dark stud inside the 12:00 hole, anti stud out Trains looking properly dangerous and cool!
Excellent builds today, Sir Robin! Is there a way of attaching horns to those coupling rods? Hilarious that the ghost keeps hitting his head 😂🤣 Brilliant 😂🤣
Love it, Robin. One suggestion for the tender.... do you still have the eyeball stickers from the Haunted Subway station or similar? Maybe you can decorate the side of the battery that is exposed to look like the souls fueling the train.
This is amazing! I still am pushing for Fluffy just sitting somewhere and another monster playing with him. Maybe the other is holding a minifigure part like a leg, maybe as a treat?
This is one of your best builds, it's so novel and nifty. If you do elect to add carriages for future Halloweens I imagine Strahd von Zarovich could have his own private coach, like an old time railway coach for royalty, ornately gothic and spooky of course.
If you changed the white technic pieces connected to the wheels to black, you could attach the long white bones to the technic pieces and have bones as the wheel drivers
The coupling rods berween wheels are normally placed 90 degrees out of phase (quartered, or in quadrature). This is to ensure that even if one rod is at the end of its travel when the loco is stationary, the other can push or pull as needed to make sure both axles start to rotate in the same direction. If they're 180 degrees out of phase, identical roation is not guaranteed. Of corse, the gearing in the Lego motor means that problem can never arise in this case. And I love the design of the train - just bonkers!
awesome train :D maybe itd be funny to put light in the cabin of the locomotive and put some kind of yellowish clear brick in front of the light bit so itll be glowing yellow. like theres a gostly aura or someting driving it
Suggestion for the smoke out of the train, make it a bit bigger with the flat round pieces in glow in the dark green or white, so it can be scary soul smoke 🦝 We love the train and how it runs 🤩💚
2 suggestions , 1 on the top of the battery box , if you look head on , you can see the top of the battery box, so try and see if you can put plates on it 2 film the train with a phone , I found that professional cameras don't pick up glow in the dark pieces as well as phones do
If it helps the barrel on the train is called the boiler, that what holds the water which gets boiled by little tubes in the boiler which produces the steam to move the train, and also it looks great love how it glows.🤩
awesome build thankx fr sharing...have you tried charging LEGO gitd parts with blue light flashlight.... I use it on my glow-in-the-dark Funko pops .....
I cant remember if you tried it in the first video, but the one horn/tooth on the base of the small cars looks like it needs a little more. What if you used the technic brick with two pin holes so you could do two horns?
The driving rods should be connected to the cylinders for actually driving the wheels with steam. I understand it's kind of a building challenge, though
A very impressive 4-4-0 locomotive. a few pedantic (barely a) train nerd notes: 12:14 - not opposed, they]'re out of phase by 90 degrees ("quartered") to prevent a situation where both pistons can't let steam in 14:20/21:25 - that barrel is the boiler, and the receiver is roughly where the firebox would be. 18:50/19:54 - pilot truck and pilot I do think the orange wings are slightly too many different colors on the wagon, but it blends in better against the whole train. With the black wings it may look like a dead spot against the barrage of color that is the rest.
Carradge idea: a spooky passenger carriage for ghosts or scary minifigs and when you make brick Nottingham 2.0 you shold have a abandoned station whith the ghost train parked in a 3rd platform like at a normal station and your idea for brick Nottingham station it is 1 or 2 tracks that branch out into multiple tracks and eventually rejoin but you might need to get more track swiches.for the abandoned station you could have more Halloween people wanting at the station to get on the train and ghosts also at the station
Love the train! I think you lose a lot of the shape of the tender because of the battery box making it very square. If you made it two studs longer, you could have the slopes extend past the barred windows so it isn't so boxy. This would also let you put more spikes between the wheels. Also, in case no one told you on that brickhaul, that IR receiver is a "V2" version that can deliver a bit more power to motors than the original and only came in a few sets. It's pretty highly sought after so I'm guessing the seller didn't know what they had.
Honestly a suggestion i would say you should do is can the ghost rider Minifigure all together, use the dementor torso and a pair of black Minifigure legs and use a lego castle skeleton head (the one with the red eyes or the black version with the red eyes) and the dementor cape then you would have a more recognizable Death/grim reaper since the grim reaper is normally depicted wearing a long black hooded robe with skeletal hands and and a skull. (Mainly is a skeleton underneath) And a scythe. Not firery hair leather jackets and leather jeans.
You should have a short unused branch of train track somewhere in the city where an old western bad guy has tied up a person to the rails, not realizing that the train doesn't use that abandoned branch of train track so he is always waiting for a train that will never come. The headless Train Man should be the driver of the train. He could be leaning out with his pumpkin head in his hand. You might also be able to get an LED strip of lights and put it underneath the train so it would really glow.
Meddle not In the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and go well with ketchup.(Especially if you steal their wings) The cylinder on the front of a steam engine is a boiler.
cool train bro.... like u needed one more haha. i noticed one thing on the engine that those pointy bits on the train are backwards and they look more like thorns now Honestly i think if you flipped em more they look like batwings. Good luck with all the projects i cant wait to see a new lego room update. anyways lemme know what you think and have a great weekend.
