Join me as I review the vintage 2001 LEGO Harry Potter 4723 Diagon Alley Shops from the first wave of LEGO Harry potter almost 20 years ago. LEGO Diagon Alley Shops is an 80 piece classic LEGO Harry Potter set featuring the first Hermione Granger LEGO minifigure and recreates shops from Diagon Alley. In this vintage LEGO Harry Potter unboxing, speed build and review, you'll see every detail of 4723 Diagon Alley Shops set and 20 years of LEGO Hermione Granger minifigures.

4723 Diagon Alley Shops is from the 2001 wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets and based on Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone or Sorcerer's Stone if you're from the USA. LEGO has recreated both the Diagon Alley pet store Magical Menagerie plus a robe store which could be the Madam Malkin's Robes for all Occasions or, as seems more likely, one of several thrift, junk or second hand stores in the center of the wizarding world, Diagon Alley.
LEGO creatures included in this vintage Harry Potter LEGO set include a cat which could be Crookshanks (albeit in the wrong color), a gray owl, a green frog and a most pleasing transparent neon orange scorpion because, well why not!
4721 Hogwarts Classrooms, 4722 Gryffindor House and 4723 Diagon Alley Shops from the 2001 LEGO Harry Potter range are unusual as these sets were all aimed at the female market with a bordering on psychedelic color scheme. Also unusual is the inclusion of a cardboard backdrop combining LEGO with art in a way that makes the set feel like it is jumping off the pages of a book with colorful illustrations.

The face used for the 2019 Hermione figures was not new for her, it was first made for Barbosa's daughter from the more recent Pirates Of The Caribbean set

I am not sure why LEGO keeps matching new face prints with this one. Second Task and second cmf Hermione had freckles, only one from first cmf comes with new face print without freckles!

You might’ve already known this but the Harry, Ron and Hermione sets of this style were aimed for young girls specifically which is why it is brightly vibrant and has a sort of doll house aesthetic to it.

As another AFOL, I splurged and purchased this set and the dormitory set from the same 2001 trio off EBay. We had the classroom model so I was determined to “have the set” (like Slughorn)... I still need to buy the cardboard backdrop for the classroom.

I also snagged this set from Ebay...with box and instructions. We had the classroom set from that 2001 trio set, so of course I had to get the Diagon Alley shops set and the dormitory/common room set from Ebay. Unfortunately, my kiddos lost or discarded the backdrop for the classroom set.

I had this when I was a child, it was my favourite haha and I also used the pink “lightsaber” to play star wars with my brother. I’m just wondering if you have a video of the griffindor house that you showed quickly during the video? I tried to look after it in your videos but I couldn’t find it.
