The pilot is actually a pretty interesting minifig, given that it's a very accurate portrayal of a German air force pilot from the late 1930s *cough*. That's a surprising thing for Lego to do - especially since they could've just used a generic outfit, as this isn't a major character.

@@Averageman902 Because RU-vid might not like mentioning the political regime they would've flown under, and I didn't want to risk the video because of a comment. They seem particularly sensitive at the moment. So, I added a tongue-in-cheek, wink-wink, nudge-nudge, cough. I know Lego have done accurate uniforms before - suitable for a certain campaign in the desert - but you don't really see this uniform in the film, whereas you do see the other uniforms in Raiders of the Lost Ark, for example.

I didn’t expect for LEGO to make another modern military vehicle if they ever made Indiana Jones sets again. I love the look of the plane and as a speed champions collector, there’s another car for the collection.

If anyone’s wondering the history behind the Luftwaffe pilot minifig, he is wearing a Type K So/34 Sommerfliegerkombi suit. It was a lightweight and unlined flying suit commonly used by German pilots during warmer weather conditions and was a favourite of trainee pilots, aircrew, and bomber crews, and was also used by fighter pilots as well. These were seen very frequently during pre-war times, and was also used during the entire continuation of the war. For the Lego WW2 community this is an incredible surprise of a minifigure to get, and is anything but boring, lego did a great job applying this suit to a minifigure (though some flight boots and zippered leg pockets would’ve been cool to see), and I will be buying quite a few to fill up my JU-87 B-2 Stukas.

LEGO has to do everything movie accurate no matter what the scene has sure they can cut out the explicit material off the figure but they can make it seem like regular generic vehicle which they did it here

I remember when I was a kid I was super careful about wearing out those whip pieces. I had one specific play whip that I would use anytime I wanted Indy to swing off something, and I kept all my other whips pristine. Brings me way back.

Lego's policies are all over the place and completely asinine. From what I've heard, they don't do weapons because the founder of Lego had lived through WWII and was understandably a pacifist, except sometimes (plenty of times) they do weapons anyway, especially when they're in the hands of Nazi minifigs (like in the 2000s for the first Indiana Jones sets), the very Nazis the founder of Lego probably hated! Go figure! (I can't.)

The key to applying big stickers, especially on curved surfaces is to just peel away one small edge and then cut the backing away there leaving the majority of the sticker still on the backing until you get that edge placed perfectly where you want. That way you can lay the whole sticker in place to check alignment before peeling away the rest of the backing. Clear stickers are double yikes because they love fingerprints so I'd hold that small edge using the brick separator.

I'm so glad they added the feature where the plane's wings tear off when it goes through the tunnel. I might make a few modifications to the set like adding a cone piece to the nose of the propeller because the piece they have annoys me. Then I'm going to put guns on that jumper plate on the front.

Dude, this is so nostalgic for me! The first Lego set that I picked out from a store (Berlin LegoLand Discovery Center specifically) was an Indiana Jones set. I am so happy to see Lego bringing hem back! I just wish that Lego would put this much care into their Star Wars Prequel/Clone Wars era sets.

when he said " What more could you want?" one thing came to my mind. a better bf-109. im a ww2 plane lover, and was half believing that the plane portrayed in the set was a fw-190, ( i have never seen any indiana jones movie but knows that ww2 german things are in it.) but in a clip in his video i saw that it was a bf-109. the engine, is just too fat for me. bf- 109s had a slim body, and i know you can't make that thing any more slimmer, so i wanted it to be taller. That's all, but makes a huge difference for me. The wings like he said was amazing and the tail is fine.

At this scale, the car is a very good representation of the Citroen from the movie, giant fenders and all. The plane, while a perfectly good toy, is pretty rudimentary compared to what Cobi is doing with WWII aircraft builds.

The fighter in the movie was intended to be an early Bf-109 variant. However, with no available airworthy Bf-109s, they used the Pilatus P-2 trainer plane. The differences between the two aircraft are quite noticeable to a trained pair of eyes, and this plane is modeled after the P-2 used in the movie.

One thing I was hoping for, and may try to engineer myself, is for the landing gear to fold back on a hard landing and automatically eject the wings. Like the landing gear is a spring-loaded lever attached to pushers between the ball joints.

I agree on the 4 plus thing. It was my reaction when I first saw the Images, especially compared to the cars in the original Shanghai Chase set. Think you sold me on the set. Although I think the Plane chase when they’re in the biplane is the more iconic scene. “Sorry Son, but they got us…” By the way, did you ever watch the Indiana Jones Films?

The plane used in the movies was a Swiss Pilatus p2 to play the role of the German Bf109 this kit has a striking resemblance to the Pilatus p2 I’m definitely buying this on release

I got the original set when I was a kid, and I still own it to this day. I do miss the other plane, and I do like the mechanic of pressing down on the middle of the plane and both wings come flying out from the original, But this set is still going to be a must buy for me

I have this set, and have put it together flawlessly - quite fun, actually, building the "Messerschmitt" and Citroen. Cause that's what they were - the "Messerschmitt" was a Pilatus P2-05 fighter plane, and the car was a 1954 Citroën 11 Légère Cabriolet 'Traction'.
