LEGO is Tricking You Into Buying This Set 

Personally, I think the GWPs are getting worse, but it’s interesting how you managed to make a full video on a $15 Rover set.

i specifically went to the lego store and bought this set only, def wasn't an addon for me

I hope they do more of these. Id rather spend money directly on the gift item than deal with having to be locked behind paying for the more expensive set or spending a certain amount to get it. I always have to hold off and wait until a good GWP comes out before I buy the sets I want since you barely get any return on day 1. (Double VIP or GWP)

How insidious... selling things people want to buy. What will they think of next?

Some GWPs aren’t worth the threshold or forcing you to buy a certain series isn’t worth it either. I haven’t received a VIP (now insiders) gift in months when buying stuff as well

Honestly I think this sold well because it's a small City style vehicle that is priced well and is a licensed vehicle it goes perfectly next to the $20 Jurassic Park Jeep from earlier this year

im pretty sure it was supposed to be a GWP. i was registering my sets with the QR codes and noticed that all GWPs do not have a qr code on the instructions. this one didnt either :O all my other sets had one sooo

People forget once upon a time you could buy GWPs on their own. Toys R Us used to do that a lot with bricktober and I believe LEGO stopped selling GWPs separately when Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy

Not only do non sellable exclusive sets based on old sets bank on nostalgia as the main driving force of sales for collectors and AFOL's but they also encourage scalpers worldwide to try and use them as a way to drain your wallet weaponizing unavailability due to not having a close lego store near you, but also the short amount of available sets around the world. It feels more rewarding when something has a predisposed value in the store and you didnt have to buy it, because that way i dont feel like im justifying the latest inflation lego sets. We used to get sets with high piece count and availability around $100 and now a set that wouldve been a $25 set is close to $50-$60

What's the trick? You buy it or you don't simple!

One of the first things that baffled me about the Land Rover Classic Defender, is that it is a Creator set but not a 3-in-1. Creator sets with one instruction booklet are usually high-end like Modulars. Therefore this is the cheapest, most low-end Creator set built for one purpose at present. I may have missed some previously available but it is fascinating nonetheless.
