Firas MOC is actually insane achievement considering limitations, 911 in general have alot of great MOCs

I do think Lego is rushing things, speed champions merc packs, mp4/4, and now this. Its wild that MOCs are better than official cars.

I built out the FIras version awhile back and made significant changes to some areas of the build but it's still a fantastic alt build, i will be buying the lego one and hope to see what the community comes up with in terms of adjustments.

I have the Porsche set built into the Lamborghini countach on my shelf and when I saw the new Lego version, I didn’t think it was worth an upgrade. After watching your video and seeing the comparison, I think my Porsche version kind of looks like a countach and a Diablo had a baby.

If you don't see that the alternative build is better you really need new glasses.. or stop taking royalty checks from Lego :)

The rear of the official set is about the only thing I don't like about it. Hopefully firas can turn it into a Porsche lmao

It’s surprising how an alternative build (with the all the constrains of parts available) still looks so good (better imo) compared to an official set designed over several months by a Lego employee (with new parts developed specifically for that set)

For me the Porsche alternative build's overall shape is still better, the side profile is for me more accurate, than the official set 😊

My main problems are the bulges on the front being too pronounced and how they mess with the overall silhouette. Call me crazy but that bothers me even more than the oversized taillights. Also no pop up headlights is just a miss especially when the f40 was able to do so.

Interesting comparison, and while I respect your views I think the crucial difference is that Firas' MOC is off in small ways that can easily be modified (rear wing, engine cover, windscreen, etc), while the new official set is off in fundamental ways that will be very hard to modify and which affect the defining lines of the vehicle (staggered hood-to-windshield line, height and bulk of the rear end, etc). I think the MOC being a bit smaller also scales better with the Porsche and other cars in the line.

At first I was 95% purchasing the Countach, but after your very helpful and trustworthy reviews, I feel like having the one Contach (My speed champions one) is good enough

If the alternative build and official did some sort of fusion dance it look the best shape-wise

The alt looks better and more ideal, but the actual looks mostly more accurate. People forget the Countach is not a very attractive car, despite being held as an idol

While both have their pros and cons, I'd still say I prefer the alternate build. Two areas where it clearly wins for me is the narrower front, and the much thinner window sills. And a Countach just needs a wiper. Ironically, I do actually prefer the rear of the Lego set, even when oversized it just looks more accurate. I'd love to see how Firas could improve his model with the new parts, that would make it absolutely perfect!

The Firas B-Model would be the only reason for me to ever buy the Porsche. I would never buy the Lambo, unless Firas creates a beautiful Porsche out of it :)

I have quite some experience with the 10295 set parts portfolio, having built the 911 Turbo first, then a MOC Carrera version, then Firas´ Countach (improved with a trapezoid windscreen) and now a modified version of his BMW M1. I have mixed feelings about the new official Countach set, I like certain details, but I´m not blown away enough to spend 180 bucks right away. Sadly, the giant step that was the 10265 Mustang with added steering and mods could not be repeated with the model lineup since then, IMHO.

An delicated official build that's not completely better than an alternative model moc which is not meant to be built this way, such a shame.

Lego fumbled another car? New, didn't see that😂 Also this video can be summed up as 10 minutes of nothing. In my opinion Instead comparing both the lego and alternative to some flawed 3D design he could compare them with photos of the actual countach lp500

The one done with Porsche pieces looks better.. New lego ideas countach is not a good set... And it s overpriced..

Here's my opinion as a complete non-car-fan: the Porsche MOC captures the essence of "a Lamborghini" way better than the official model. It looks more like an ugly doorstopper, and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible. Now which one looks more like a Countach, I leave up to the real fans.

The squareness and the sharp angular edges of the official lego set do look more like the real countach in my opinion

The official LEGO model looks somehow weak in comparison to Firas' Alt model, especially for that $180 price tag! I knew Firas and was very familiar with his work since he joined the online LEGO community many years ago, and even back then he was exceptional. And when I saw his alt Lambo model, I was blown away by it! To be honest, this official LEGO Countach is more like a prototype IMHO, and it was rushed a bit.

180€ just produce different tries. Mould king sells the moc for 60 in eu . Lego can be more expensive though not to that extent. Wanna see a real model in that price range. Cobi masserati MC 20. Bigger model more prints produced in the EU way way more details

I think that all of the details on the countach set are better than the porsche alternative build, and the proportions on the middle and rear ends of the cars look very similar, how ever the front end of the porsche alternative build has way better proportions than the official set. Its just embarrassing that the lego designers who had unlimited parts couldn't figure something out that was better than the designer who was limited by the parts used in the porsche set.

The moc looks like a diablo more then a countach

Perhaps Firas's model may not be so accurate, but it is still much better looking than this new Lambo official model. Also fair point that the official lambo model may be more rigid when handling.

The only thing I’m sad about is there not being flip out headlights

The MOC Looks a lot more aggressive and modified rather than the official set, which is stock (apart from the rear wing)

I think we can all acknowledge that Firas is quite the Michelangelo of alternative builds for lego vehicles (at least in this scale). CreationCaravan is also very good. Kirvet and Sim Camat are others to keep an eye out for. Firas designed no less that 6 or 7 wildly different alternative builds for the 10295 Porsche set. Doing that within the limits of the available pieces is mind-boggling. Official lego designers (or regular MOC builders) have any existing piece in any existing colour and any quantity at their disposal to create. (Official designers can, furthermore, ask for new pieces or pieces in new colours, within reason and budget). The designer of an alternate build does not have that luxury (and their designs should be valued accordingly).

I don’t think it looks good, unfortunately

The Porsche alt-build is a stunning achievement. I’m happy you broke through the initial emotional response to how beautiful it is to have a real critical look at its (very forgivable) inaccuracies. The nose looks more like a Diablo to me now, which explains why it still triggered a very satisfactory familiarity.

The overall shape of the alt build is more like a Diablo than a Countach. The 5000 QV did have these overly large arrowhead shape tailights, and these are really close for a Lego.

Thanks for pointing out the taillight being too large, squeezing everything out of proportion. I think it's an decent looking car, I personally just cannot look pass the rear design it just looks really off for me.

The porsche lambo curved front and the lack of that curve on the official one for me is where the official one broke. Its like its not a lambo model but just a larger scale version of the speed champions one wc also had the blocky front

Honestly, I prefer the official one. Yes, there are innaccuracies, but they are not severe enough to ruin the whole set. After all, it's made from Lego bricks, if you want perfect proportions, buy a die-cast model. To me, it looks like a cartoon version of the Countach - a bit disproportionate, blocky and simplified but still looking faithful to the original. Although the MOC is impressive, it is simply not as accurate. If I saw the car without anyone telling me what it was, I'd have thought it was a Diablo. The one thing that makes the MOC superior, is its tapered front end. However, when building MOC's you need to be mindful about structural limitations (they are much more fragile than official sets). I am disappointed that the Lego set does not have pop up headlights though, however I would gladly sacrifice the extra function if it means the set is structually sound. Although, I would have preferred a better colour like red or blue.

Great video, I really wished for this comparison! The bulge above the front wheels on 10337 in combination with the "step" (that shouldn't be there) between the windshield and nose of the car, still makes me lean towards the Firas version of Countach. To each their own what they find most imporant ofcourse. Anyway, I will eventually buy the 10337 and mod the front to be more to my liking. If that works out, I'll have a crack at the tail lights too.

Whilst I can apreciate Lego's attempt it's not for me. Unfortunately the most fun I get from Lego is the building aspect, and I simply don't have the space for this set. To then disassemble and use for parts the price is a bit too high, I remember paying 140 eur for the Mustang directly from Lego in 2019.

The MOC looks good but rhe official set captures the overall look better (other the side windows) gets some porportions off and no pop-up lights or rear trunk.

i'm surprised that the new official Countach has so many accuracy flaws even though its licensed by Lamborghini. how did Lamborghini approve of this design? Lego should've introduced new lego parts at least for the rear end of the model... the front end is way too steep, pop-up headlights should've been an option you can use when you build the set (having fixed pop-up either being on or off, or at least make a lego part in its place that has an emboss of the actual closed pop-up headlight, its not that difficult...) the interior they could've simply used flat tiles instead of the flat triangles and that would already made it look a lot better. honestly this official set is kinda of underwhelming to say the least - they could've made it PERFECTLY but a simple MOC build like firas's one is actually more accurate in many parts compared to an officially licensed set. this is actually a little bit funny tbh. now here is the waiting time for someone to fix these multiple mistakes that Lego did with this model and combine the design of Fira's MOC model with the official countach to make the ultimate most accurate countach model.

Really Lego should be back to work mocs are better even using lego sets,the worst thing lego copy from them selling 3 times or 4 more expensive for garbage....No education no fancy technics just garbage look nice...I wait for u say guys

I feel like the Lego one is still a bit better, but considering that it’s a full release, more expensive and uses new parts, it should have been *a lot* better

The problem with Scale cars is that you cant just scale them down to size. Thats the reason Hotwheels have designers. You need top adjust the cars design to make it feel right. i believe the version by firas feels more like a countach due to it being lower

The official kit is nice, imperfect but nice. It's actually quite strange that they have so carefully constructed some of the inaccuracies where it would be easier to be closer to the actual vehicle.

I just built the VTOL Spaceship set which cost £90 and it seems much better value than this Countach considering the size and parts. You can get a very realistic die cast Countach for under £30 - sure it's not LEGO but it will look great on a shelf.

The non tapered nose of the kfficusl set bithers me so much. It looks so different from the tapered in lines of the real thing. It almost looks like a ferrari front with the stratight line from nose to tail along the side. The nose kiklnd of kills it for me, unfortunately. Hopefully someone will release a mod to get the nose fixed

The moc is more of a restoomod countach or a diablach/countablo. The official set isn't that good, but it's Lego so you can mod it and fix. Then is better.

I agree the official one has a nose that slopes too quick. the rear lights I could live with but a better color choice would have been preferred as the lego speed champions is also white and looks a bit bland in my opinion

What nobody's talkin about is that you want a model to look accurate and not to be 100% accurate. Even if compared to a blueprint the official set has more accurate proportions on some parts, the mod captures the proportions better. For example the countach is a low and wide car so you wanna make the model look low and wide, even if you exagerated proportions and make them less accurate, at least you give the right impression, and that what the mod designer managed to do better, especially around the front and with the windshield

Face it, the Firas model looks like a real supercar, the LEGO model looks just silly. Your 3D printed model seems a bit out of proportion to me.

Price will definitely drop on this and then might buy might

I created a comparison slider, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to link it here, where you see the proportions are clearly wrong, and it's too tall. The bulge on the hood is deal-breaker for me, that is the iconic silhouette of the Countach, the poster that was on my wall as a kid, I can't get that shape out of my head, I'm sorry that this one just doesn't work for me. Maybe Firas can improve on it, and then I'll definitely purchase it along with the modding instructions, and yes, if the price is lower or the same as the Porsche it's an easy choice.

I tend not to get too nit-picky when judging the official set, given that the designers have other constraints regarding build experience, product quality, stability, parts budget and more that MOC designers simply don’t have to worry about. Plus it’s made from the same building system that also provides buckets of assorted 2x4 etc. bricks to 5 year olds, which has been carefully added to over the last half-century and kept as universal as possible. You could pretty much GUARANTEE that this set’s designers looked at different options to build various sections of this set such as the tail lights, but had to scrap them for the eventual final design to fit within the constraints I mentioned above. If you’re curious about the constraints that LEGO designers have to work within, I highly recommend checking out the “What’s up with that?” series of articles over on Brickset, which are written by a former LEGO designer.

The double wheels are frustrating. Knowing the Senna McLaren needed wide tires, they could have killed 2 birds with one stone and had double wide molded tires for both the countach and the senna McLaren !

The door windows kill it for me! They look terrible! Think I’ll just buy a second Porsche model and build the MOC version instead and add extra parts to further improve it! Maybe buy the official model windscreen, when it becomes available to buy separately!

While the Porsche build into the Lamborghini is impressive, technically given no parts were added, it made use entirely of what was available which is quite the achievement. The 3D model for comparison was a pretty clever move, as the proportions definitely look better, more accurate on the official release. Outside the oversized taillights, and weirdly shaped dashboard not much to complain about as I think the model displays, and looks great for what is is. Other than the printed piece count not sure why this one is $240 here in Canada though the DeLorean is about the same. That 3D printer is super impressive, as the 3D model also looks great.

I bought a used 911 set on eBay for $50 and did the alt build. Spent a few extra dollars buying random white pieces to customize it further and make it look more accurate. I think I’m like $80 in, and my version is significantly better than the official set.

The official set has alot of things off with it How does an alternative build look not only better but more like the countach than an official lego set😂

It is closer than I thought it would be. I think the moc wins simply from the front end. The front profile looks more accurate at a glance.

I wish they made the MP4/4 with double rear tires, and forget about the slicks, it would have looked just fine.

I brought the instructions and even the stickers for Firas MOC couple of years ago but have been waiting and saving up to get another Porsche but then the official Lambo got announced. I think I might actually go for the MOC instead..

Smoothing can be done quickly by dipping the print in Acetone and wiping it carefully afterwards. The longer in Acetone the more smoothing, but it might dissolve some minor details if dipped to long. It is also dependent on what print material you are using.
