I kinda agree the set is overpriced and they should have used the older helmet style for the mark 3 and war machine, but the new helmet is perfect for the new nano tech armor.
No it wasn't perfect. I still needed lots of improvements. Thy should have made one similar to Phoenix Customs' version which I would argue is the best version of an iron man figure.
I might be the minority here but I do think that the new helmet mold is actually near perfection, it doesn't scale well with minifigure's head but it looks proportional to the source material. I personally always thought that the original mold feels squished down, and faceplate feels a bit oversized
Yeah the new helmet seems proportional but the original had a more detailed faceplate that had molded eyes, a flip up that didn't make Tony's head look bulbous and to me was overall good for the MCU iron man suits, wished LEGO could've switched it up the helmets here between the three designs
The trick is to buy the sticker set for a dollar and slap it on a window. He has 51 suits onscreen in the films. 48 are his own, Two busters (44 and 48) and rescue (mk 49) seeing as his newest is mk 85 theres still mk 51-84 that havnt been seen!
Plus the Iron Spider, Iron Legion, (apparently) 7 War Machine suits and 2 Iron Patriot suits. I think the Rescue armor is also not an Iron man suit and under its own designation. If you want you can count the Spider-Man homecoming suit but that is not really an Iron Man like suit.
This hasnt been canonized anywhere and its just a assumption. You could say that about most suits. Mk 2 and 3 the upgrade of the Mk1 that eventually became the mk4 and so on
If this was $50-60 I'd get it, there's alot of cool little things (new helmet, stark expo, whiplash, war machine) but I'll probably just get that stuff on bricklick if it's not crazy expensive like the set. Shame, I don't have an armory yet and I liked the look of this oni
The new helmet takes me back to that horrible X-Wing pilot-helmet-mold they introduced back in 2018. I hope this new mold here gets the same treatment.
Could you please do a video comparing the original hall of armor pods, the spider lair pods, and the new hall of armor pods? I'd be curious how compatible they are with each other. I found the Ironman and Spider-Man pods didn't fit that well together, especially when it came to putting the display on a curve.
I got the set today and it’s honest not that bad, I do wish that it would’ve been $75 instead of $90. Although the minifigures are great but I do wish they wouldn’t have changed the Ironman helmet.
The hairpiece for whiplash is technically accurate to the scene the armor appears in, the helmets if you notice in the film, don’t go clear up, you could probably live with the new helmet design if you don’t put em up all the way. Stark 11 was the license plate on the car actually used, but could be a reference to how many movies he was in for marvel. Overall if you watch the film, this set may actually be more accurate than y’all realize!
I feel like they can still use the old mold for his old armours like 3 and maybe up to like avengers or age of ultron but using the new one makes sense for the ones after it as they have quite a different shape, and the printing for the new one allows you to really see the difference in design
I will be likely picking up multyiples of this set in order to essentially bild my own idea of how the armory should be built. I plan on having an armory case for each set of Armor, as mentioned in this video
There’s definitely a lot of great things with this set, but there’s also a lot of not-so-great things with this set. Overall, I just wish LEGO was more consistent. I would probably give the set an 8/10. (I’m still gonna get it though, even though it’s horribly overpriced, to go with the other two Hall of Armor sets)
I understand you don't like the new hall of armor display with the holograms. You could just apply the stickers on the door/window panels pieces right? Then just use them on the previous design, you probably have some left without stickers from previous sets
Hold on, are those 1/4 round tiles in trans-yellow on the car!? Oh yes! Also, it’s called a drill press. It’s not too bad of a set but I’ll just be getting it mostly for the suits like most people.
I was able to buy this set on a Black Friday for half the price. Got super lucky! No complaints except for the fact that some of the minifigs came with damaged (chipped) torso sides and I don't how to feel about that....I think the details in the set are premium, it would be nice if Lego plastic and molding was also at that standard.
Some ask “Is it better to have the old iron man helmet with the face plate or this new one?" - I say, is it too much to ask for both? With that in mind I humbly present you the crown jewel of Stark Industries' Freedom Line, using the old ones for the original suits and the new one for the nano suits.
I feel like the Buildable Iron man may have been based off an Iron man with the new helmet. I just feel like the wierd Chunkiness makes more sense that way.
I think looking back. The new helmets are not nearly as bad as people said. They are only slightly taller than the old ones, and scale better with the other new helmets, like Vader's version 2 and the Ant-Man helmets.
I’m a little disappointed with them for changing the hall of armor .. it does however have some potential for a MOC builder ..but if your not well it just didn’t need to be changed.( now it look like those are the grange door pieces .. can they move? Can you close them ? and do you actual put the min figures inside the window and not on the studs ) * maybe that would fix The height problem? .. I don’t mind the Tony Stark min figure or the Pepper pots but the Nick fury should been Happy hogan or either pepper should been trade out for another Iron armor. … only other real disappointment for me is the actual whiplash min figure .while I’m glad we finally got him.. I would have like him to be in his race track jump suit one and To change him in too the armor suit.. give him a par of extra legs the helmet and some printed body armor to wear over his race track jump suit .
Ok. I think that, First helmet (the one everybody loves): is to realistic for lego minifigures. Second helmet(better for comics though could work for much kind of) This helmet(perfection) There. Boom. Done.
Isn’t it just the visor that’s new? I didn’t think they made a whole new mold for the helmet I thought it was just the visor. I took the original visor of my Mark 3 and it looked just as tall.
I got this set at target yesterday because it was on clearance at a decent price, the original asking price (in Australia) was $135 the clearance placed it down to $80 and I thought that is a steal so I said screw it it got it while it was this cheap. I think for the mark 85 the new helmet mould works as it's more streamlined but I agree we should have gotten the mark 4 seeing as the mark 3 came in the iron monger set not to long ago. I think the build is good and getting the war machine mark 1 was a big selling point for me and whiplash I thought was great. Still prefer the original hall of armours set but this one has it's pluses.
The only thing I don't like about this set is the new helmets except for Whiplash, Lego...you don't need to change it, just please keep the one most of us grew up with...so much cooler
Also, the helmet is way to big. I honestly thought that the helmet would have been the same size as the "invincible iron man" helmet whilst also having the whole flip up and down feature.
Wait so they made iron monger last year for iron man 1 then they made iron man 2 whiplash so they gonna make iron man 3 with a couple suits and the villain
Since this is iron man 2 set, they should have replaced mk 3 with 4, mk 50 for 6, and mk 85 for mk 5. Even though mk 25 was not in the movie, its still a great inclusion
This set is way too overpriced. They just knew the collectors would have to buy it so they just raised the price to an unmeasurable level. I mean think about it. This set has less pieces than the original and it costs way more, and I already thought the original was overpriced. About 3/7 of the Minifigures aren't even exclusive.
Listen I think thw helmet is fine back when they made the second helmet everyone hated it including me and after a year I grew on me now I don't know if it did for everyone else but I don't hate it anymore so in a year I'll probably like this helmet more then I do right now
I agree on that almost every set is overpriced nowadays, we’re comparing $20 battle packs to $10 battle packs. But to play devil’s advocate, compare the amount of new pieces, new prints, substantial increase in stability and design, these sets have tremendously increased in value. Imagine if this set came out in 2011. We would be losing our minds over the incredible way this set looks. Cost has gone up yes, but overall value is up too.
yhea the price is to Hight and the helmet is fine but to tall and the suit display should have stayed the same and also the mk3 should not of ben here it should of been the mk 4 but other then that its a fine set but ill wait until it goes on sale to get it.
Can't we just have all 3 helmets from lego rather than lego just trying to choose one? I like the newer helmet for nano tech suits, and I like the comic book suit for somethings too. Don't blame me but I think the comic book helmet is slightly better then the original. Just in the appearance wise. Nothing will ever beat the original helmet.
