I've grown to accept the ghost tail for her first minifigure but I really wish they had given us at least one version of her with a snake tail. I don't understand why they haven't
I bought this set and I'm really happy with it. More Ninjago vehicles need multiple seats and a trunk. Too often do these vehicles just hold a single person despite their big size, and can't carry anything. This set feels very believable to me, although I would have loved if the transformation revealed some kind of loading area in the back for a container, prison cell or something like that.
Those giant blades I can imagine as being used as a srimech, a self-righting-mechanism, if this were to get flipped over. I didn't imagine or expect this set to have a build be loosely based on the Speed Champions sets and that's massively piqued my interest in this set now! I was not at all interested in this until this review! It's almost like a Mad-Maxxed Speed Champions type of car in a way.
I’d love to see Jang mod this car into a moc And yes, the “action feature” feels quite lacking. I feel like if the different moving parts were separate and not linked there’d be more room for something better
Got this at Costco for $35 and love it! I also got major speed champions vibes while building this, and Jay's car from the Core wave earlier this year. I'll probably display them next to my Speed Champs collection. Fun build and great figures!
The selling point for me is that gorgeous trans-orange windscreen piece. I love it so much! I don't usually buy multiples of sets, but for this one, I might just make an exception! I also can't get over the irony that this $45 set holds two people in it, while the one literally double its size AND cost, holds only one figure in the vehicle.
Still love to watch reviews about lego themes I am not interested in. Gives me the oppurtunity to watch those unbiased, which teaches me how to pay more attention for sets I am drewling on, just because of star wars for instance.
The minifigs in this wave are all really good. The special winged character in each set look amazing. It feels like the stud shooters' direction should be flipped; with them pointed forward in "attack mode" with the swords and "Defense mode" should have them pointed up.
I do wish Aspheera had a tail like Pythor and like she does in the show, but I get why they went this direction, because it matches her previous minifigure more.
This would look great turned into a cyberpunk Ford GT. You could get it looking pretty cool without building much of the back end too, just leave it open and get some big wheels and exposed turbos back there.
Was hyped for this review since I think it’s the only crystallized one you havent reviewed and it’s one of the ones I want since I got to dd to my Kai collection :D
Definitely feel like modding this into a speed champions set. This set with realistic wheels and with the added flare removed from the back could look really cool whilst also being more believable. The parts you could salvage from doing so could be great for some mocs too
It's a car, I guess! To me this is sort of just a $45 minifig pack. Really wish they'd give us a version of Aspheera with an actual tail, but I'm still happy to see her return.
I think the overall look is good, but it starts to be really weird and senseless once you look at the individual details. There are random bits of colours everywhere: random single brown stud next to a blue technic pin, random red technic pin w/stud under the rear wheel that has no function, red technic wire clip for no particular reason, tan technic pins inside the rear wheels and no tan anywhere else, gold wheel caps for the rear wheels but the front is completely black, random gold arm + katana on the hood... There's a lack of flow and conformity to the colour placement/choice. And that's not to mention the pointless transformation, which although does feel nice mechanically, doesn't make any sense.
I got this set used for 20eur and was pretty dissapointe on how small it actually is. Ofcourse for the price i paid i can't complain, but id i'd have paid 35eur for a sealed copy i'd be pretty upset.
It might be a solid build overall, but I just see it as another Ninjago car. Not inovative, not as fun as a car set can be. I don't think it is expensive, but it also isn't worth the value.
To be honest, this is probably my least favourite set of the wave. The car looks incomplete and the inconsistent colouration is very off-putting. Also Aspheera’s figure… why does she still have a ghost tail? Not only is it inaccurate to the show design but it just doesn’t look good imo.
