You know what I love though? None of the other turbo tanks included the missile launchers on the sides! That's like one of the coolest scenes in the battle of Kashyyyk!
The 2016 model is the smallest but the best, because it has nearly everything that the clone turbo tank has in the movie. It has the most detail, it has side rocket and grenade launchers unlike the other two which is cool that fire, and it has the best periscope. You can also still fit a lot of things inside the main compartment although being the smallest. It is in general, the most compact out of the three.
NITO 96 They're focusing less on accuracy and more on playability, which translates to tight and compact, the UCS Sets though are generally rather nice looking and have some bulk to them
NITO 96 I think you got part of it right..but also as elements get older their patents become available so lego is constantly forced to invent newer parts to keep the sets from being bootlegged by expiring patents... also sets over the years have become way more detailed with greebling and are now built with a base of a lot of technic elements and pins... all these add up the piece count... so to keep things cheaper they are forced to sacrifice these big flimsy sets for smaller more detailed playable and compact sets that are way stronger.
Kids want to play, shoot and put clone troopers in these sets. They dont care if it looks accurate or big. The Sets have to be stable and they have to offer fun for kids. Thats why lego made the sets smaller with more pieces (compared to the size) and features like useable guns.
the2great2bob yeh support patent fraud and Chinese slave labor you wonder why the Chinese are screwing everyone economically and you support their junk
2006 had size. 2016 had quality. 2008 had both. 2006 sparks memories and looks good on shelves. 2016 has great playability. 2008 does both 2006 has many sides and figures. 2016 has good sides and figures. 2008 does both. winner is obvious.
Honestly the 2016 model isn't too bad for like kids. It has features that you can actually interact with and is the most sturdiest one so perfect for young kids. I have the 2010 one and a ton of outside features kept breaking of like the flick fire mussel and the turret.
iTz_Merp yes but they should have made the 2016 one 85 or 90 dollars because it is just so undersized that it should not be 10 dollars less than the 2010 one where it is so much bigger and has a lot more to it
I feel you on the spring missiles, I got one of the 2016 edition for a steal at 20 dollars at half price books so I bought it and I actually never knew about the door in the little section with a crate so this video was a great learning tool thanks
Idk how this got suggested for me now but wow...I can’t believe how much things have changed in the past 4 years...still a legend Ryan, keep it up man🙂
I love the 2016 one, it gets a lot of criticism that I don’t think it deserves. I also have a lot of nostalgia and it’s very easy to modify and make better.
I have the 2016 model, too, and love it. Yes, I wish it was large like the 2010 version, but it makes much better use of it's space and has a lot more playability. MandR is exaggerating about the side mounted shooters. No one in their right mind stores spring-loaded shooters in the firing mechanism, it can weaken the spring. I think Lego's next remake will be larger and have some room for troops (and hopefully come with more clones than the 2016 version).
I own both the newer one and the 2010 one and honestly the 2010 (with some interior modifications) is an absolute beast I like the new one but the 2010 one is just superior in figures, value for money, appearance and size It’s the only set i still own from before 2014 (from about 2008-2013 i had a lego purge and smashed all my sets 😭) And i remember when i was a kid rolling this thing around the rocky terrain of my backyard, and for a long time it was pretty damaged But i’ve restored it and even upgraded it recently, absolutely great set from LSW’s golden age
I feel he was complaining about the 2016 model way to much. He was just mad at it for no reason. It is more detailed and better thought out but since it was smaller he gave it so much grief
My faveorite turbo tank is the 2016 one It has great figures, the most playability and it accurate to the ROTS model of the juggernaut tank (turbo tank).
The missile launcher are kind of accurate. In the revenge of the sith, as the turbo tank is driving, its firing missiles out if the side like the 2016 model.
lego from 2006-2013 was the great years of lego the gunship the turbo tank and the at-te are all the best out of the 3 that were made and they were actully good unlike the newer much smaller sets
I like the quality of the 2008 model, Minifigures of the 2005 model and the design from all three. They all have something that I like about the design. I as many others it seems, don't like how they go down in size in the newer products, but what I have a problem with the most is the Minifigures. I just don't like that in a big set like that they include one or more "main" characters or unique ones like a specific Jedi or clone commander or captain. And then one or max two clones and some type of droids. I like how the older sets, for example, the 2002 Republic Gunship. It has 4 phase 1 Clone Troopers, 2 unique super battle droids, one Jedi Knight (so just a random Jedi so you won't get more of one specific Jedi if you want to buy the set more than ones) and a Destroyer Droid. That's how I would like sets to be nowadays. Like sure I want sets with the specific Jedis, Sith and Clone Generals, Captains and Commanders, but not in every big and medium Set. I want many Clones and droids to build an epic army. Idk maybe it's just me, but that's my opinion... *Exhales* *Inhales*
Thing is, the 2016 version is not only small for a turbo tank, it is freaking TINY for a vehicle. It may have more detail and figures but for me the 2010 is better. It has the middle ground between the two
I agree with you but the 2016 model is a better build even if it's smaller. the 2010 model is a combination of the 2005 model and 2016 model because it has a great build and it is pretty large and has a decent amount of stuff with it
I hate the spring shooters because I lose all the missiles, and they cannot replace the flick fire missile's nostalgic style. I remember just flicking out missiles at clones all day.
The 2010 model is my favorite, and it bro ya back memories, but I accidentally dropped it, and I recently got the 2016 model and honestly if I could mix them together to make one, I would
that clone in the 2005 model wasn't commander cody, it was a star corps trooper. Cody has three lines on his torso and very little on his helmet and I think that even in 2005 that would have been captured
The only problem the 2010 version has is that it has no detailed undercarriage whatsoever. It's just the top of the tank above a couple of skinny technic beams and wheels. The others have a better undercarriage. But yeah, the 2010 version is stellar. It is huge, the top part is well detailed, the wheels are the perfect representation, the figure selection at the time was good and it has a ton of playability.
The 2010 wheels are the most accurate though, that is a fact. They appear to be split in different sections, just like the 'real' thing. In universe, the different sections can spin at different rates, which enables the tank to turn. Still, it is possible to prefer the other styles of wheels of course :)
The Turbo Tank and the MTT are ridiculous the "middle" one is freaking perfect, the oldest one is great, but ofc outdated, but the newest version just sucks, I really don't like them, smaller and if you ask me less possibilities to modify and play with it
I love the new one I got mine for 70 dollars which is a great deal but 110 dollars is WAY too much also I completely left of the spring loaded shooters
You were a bit harsh on the new Turbo Tank. First off, the manned gun is accurate, just watch the Battle of Felucia SWCW; Second, the sides of the tank were never all that slanted as seen in STCW, they were, but not much; Third, the minifig selection was great. Quinlan Vos had only been seen in one previous set before that, Luminara isn't a common figure either, and Comm. Gree had only been seen in two sets prior to that (one of them he was in Clone Wars form); Forth, the spring shooters are not that much of a hassle. I own the set, and never had any issues. I do wish that the newer tank was much bigger though. I pray Lego steps it up with their next release. If you're gonna fault a set for something. at least have legitimate reasons for doing so. I do not necessarily disagree with your final verdict, just not for all the reasons you stated. Lego needs to receive some more shame for not making use of all the space they did include on the prior models. No plates to put soldiers, just wide open, dead space. My friend owns the older AT-TE, and it Lego wasted SO MUCH room. Literally like 4 stud gaps between the plates and the walls where a poor trooper could fall and get flattened.
Why do people like the 2005/2006 figures? They are all really basically detailed and come with classic "blasters" (megaphones, cameras, and old revolvers). Even though there are less of them, the figures in the 2010 and 2016 versions are much better detailed and have proper blaster molds. Also worth mentioning is that the 2010 version's figures have clone wars style faces, in case that kind of thing bothers you.
You're looking past the piece count on these when you summarized. Sure the sets seem to be getting more expensive and "smaller". But they are including more pieces and the sets are more detailed. The price per part has gone down. Also you need to consider inflation into the price of each set. Jealous I don't have any of those sets though!
It’s annoyint seeing these comments about people saying the Cody figure isn’t Cody and it’s a Star corps trooper, all they did was reuse his character for the battlepack
Don’t scream at me but I like the 2016 one as my second favorite. I like the design and coloring on it. I don’t like that’s it’s smaller tho. 2010 is the best by far
