Hot Take: The Resistance Bomber has the best play features of any lego star wars set. The bomb dropping feature is so much fun to air raid lego city. It is easily the best Last Jedi set and in the top three for any sequel set.
its funny how they both have the line markings from helmet to chest but the 2013 only has the yellow part and the 2023 only has the blue part combining those would make it even better, personally i feel like the 2023 version is when rex just got his armor cleaned and the 2013 is after multiple campaigns around the galaxy with wear and tear
Hot take: I don’t really care for the helmet holes you only really notice them if you’re looking for them, I’m just happy we are getting a good amount of clones!
I think I've had enough of people talking about "accuracy" in Lego sets. As a kid I never cared about this, and neither do I now. I'd rather my set be a fun build and look cool rather than dismiss it because it's "not to scale" or because "the minifigures aren't right"
Hot take: people need to appreciate the OT imperial starfighters more, they are simple in movies but the LEGO sets make them look incredible at those standards even though we had,had a lot of tie fighters they look great on display and amazing playsets. We just don’t talk about the blue ones
I think 2017 was one of the best years of LSW. Might be nostalgia talking but not only the builds really high quality, but we also got a lot of good variety like Rogue One, some Prequel sets, and I know the movie is iffy but TLJ sets that came out that year had some good ones like the resistance bomber and Kylo’s tie. I never hear people praise it compared to 2008-2014. I don’t think it’s the single best year but definitely deserves more credit as a good LSW year.
It's so sad to hear someone say "you're a psychopath if you're taking lego sets apart". You know, back in the day when lego was actually god it was the point. Build and rebuild. You could use your full imagination, that's what so fascinating about lego.
Hot Take: The bomb squad are criminally underrated they have amazing printing including the legs and look great in an army because of how unique they are and used they are only $2 also coming from a great battle pack so all round one of the best troopers in all of lego star wars.
Hot take: Bounty Hunter Battle pack is perfect Choice for pack. Perfect way To get 4 Bounty Hunters In cheap set. I would have loved that as kid Who couldnt afford over 40 euros sets. Same goes for others like Inferno Squad pack
Hot take: the animated style phase 2 clones from 2013/2014 are the best clone designs, They are cartoony but not too cartoony (like the 2020 clones) yet they are also accurate ti the source material and honestly the simplistic design just looks better.
Yes the new Rex is really nice but my problem isn’t just that it needs a kama but also the fact that the weld lines are objectively worse. They look like rex didn’t weld the armor together but rather decorated his armor with chalk.
Small tip, to tie this series together I'd suggest using a more recognizable thumbnail for it. Some small or big thing making it easily identified as one of the hot take vids. I thought about it after searching for this video in my history and scrolling past it twice ;)
Hot Take: Baylan and Shin's lightsabers are not the wrong color, technically, as can be seen in the show, their lightsabers are red-dark orange (kinda like how Kylo's is red-yellow), giving them a transparent orange blade wouldn't be any more correct than the red they have in the set, and red is honestly the best option out of what lego has, end of the day Shin and Baylan are darksiders, darksiders have red lightsabers, and lego just doesn't have a transparent red-dark orange color,
Hot take: not every Clone wars set that conains clones should not be used for armybuilding, i see many people complain about the new Republic gunship not being the normal one we see on episode 2 and not be armybuildable.
Hot Take: a lot of Modern renditions of older lego star wars sets get trashed on because of the reduce scale and less pieces but even if they are smaller they have a slicker and more appealing desing while the older ones are more blocky looking (on a lot of cases).
I actually dont care about the accuracy for the old phase 2 clones. There’s something about them that i just really like. Maybe it’s nostalgia but i just want to get an army of them
Hot take alot of the pego star wars prices are justified Disneys not known for being cheap to liscence from im sure actors likenesses arent cheap and Lego star wars probably has the most r&d for a lego theme we constantly get new molds and usually get multi thousand piece sets
"playing psychology games" yes, because lego's sole intention is to psychologically mess with everyone. That was their sole intent when designing fox, vaughn, and now rex. Clone fanboys have got to be the most insufferable people on the planet
i like the old torso better and i agree that the wider helmet looks better but the holes are something i cant overlook they bother me a lot so overall i think the 2013 one is better @@fivelonelyclones
@@TheSandwichTF2The torso on the 2013 Rex was less accurate because of the tally marks on it. Rex is only supposed to have tally marks on his helmet, gauntlets, and a couple on his lower legs.
Hot take: The only reason these new clones get so much hate is because of nitpicks. All of the "huge problems" are only noticeable if you look for them specifically, and the only truly bad things are the helmet holes (sometimes) and the printed Camas aren't great either. Still, while legitimate flaws, none of these make or break the figs.
Hot take: Return of the Jedi is an extremely underrated movie that should have far more Lego sets than it has. I would love to see remakes of the Death Star II or Jabbas palace. But there are also many ships and scenes we haven’t had made yet. A UCS home one would be an instant buy for me.
Hot take: from an army building perspective, it would be better for battle packs to only include minifigures, or if there is a build it should just be a minifigure scale blaster/cannon emplacement. Having a ton of undersized speeders or walkers just looks goofy and clutters display areas. If that would make it much cheaper, thats a bonus too
Yh i completely agree but I don’t see it ever happening Bcs if the battle pack came with 6 clones instead of like 4 without the builds then we wouldn’t buy as many
Hot take: The 100$ to 190$ playscale sets are better than ucs sets for the price, playability and display. They are more accesable for every audience and give better minifigs selections than ucs sets.
Hot take: Most cloth pauldrons are bad; the shape is plain inaccurate and they're way too over sized, lego should do a proper plastic pauldron (with colors and right shape) or do a smaller one, closer to half of the ARC Trooper pauldron.
Id say no, yeh he's a cool minifig but the arc we see is based off the p2 prototype helmet, and honestly looks odd. If we're going to get arcs I'd say we're likely to see fives and eco at some point using a simple retool of the p2 helmet we have today and if lego want to then we could see the ARC captain and ARC Luitenants from the 2003 cw series.. using phase 1 armor. I'd say we will never see ARC troopers in a battlepack again, they could take the place if a clone captain or commander in a set but we will rarely see them.
@@Salakedy I can see the p1 arcs in a larger set 1 captain 2 Luitenants in a set and maybe the return of the 2022 p1 troopers in a battle pack in an actual pairing of anniversary sets for 2003 CW Maybe a diorama set like the wall climb, ir destroyed gun.
Hot take: for the 20th anniversary for the revenge of the sith they should remake the entire ROTS wave from 2005. I would like to see an updated turbo tank, a remake of the ARC 170 and maybe add sets like the galactic marines and 327 star corps troopers
Hot take: Luke's landspeeders are underrated just because of the fact that they are re-released more than other sets. Cheap set to get both Luke and C-3po, no ugly grey/black/white colors, no ugly stud shooters/flick fire missles/no spring loaded shooters, great for play and display, I call it the perfect starwars set Lego offers and we should be grateful Lego re-releases it every now and then. Also, unlike other re-releases of other sets, the design always improves upon its predecessors.
For me, it’s the perfect LSW “starter pack” You get Luke, C-3P0, and R2-D2, three very important characters, plus a nice vehicle that shows you how LEGO Star Wars is like.
Hot take: lego star wars sets that are ships or vehicles woud be the same to me if they just included the pilots or drivers of the thing and having a set that is a big vehicle get hate bocouse of its minifig count is redicules im not seing that extra minifigs make the set worse just that to me they are unnessery it can also inflate the price(if a ship is a troop transport or has gunners or co pilots or R2 u its then they shoud be included im talking abąt figs that dont fot in the ship ir vehicle)
I absolutely do not understand why people lie the 2013 version of Rex outside of the actual waist cape. The old one has such a goofy looking helmet and tiny tiny mouthpiece. I have the figure and will likely trade it for a new one when the UCC venator comes out. (I don’t give a shit about Lego investing so I don’t care about the dollar value of the old one).
Hot take: 2013-14 Clone Wars style phase 2 clones look way worse than any of the 2023 clones, because of the weird tiny-faced helmet prints. Hurts to say because they had the Wolf Pack but in general the worst phase 2 clones Lego’s made.
Hot take: the clone wars phase 1 walker battlepack clones look awful and nostalgia drives its popularity. Granted it was a great set with a great price but the clones themselves look so cheap and lazy that I’m shocked anyone wants them in 2023 when we have much better modern options.
Hot take: Lego Star Wars and other branded themes have ruined Lego original themes. Back in the day, there were awesome original ideas, but now there's barely any good themes from Lego themselves.
hot take: lego should remove all studshooters or nonsensical playfeatures on sets of more than 100 dollars, it's bad for the looks of a set and even if children play with them, the studschooters berely gets used before you lose them
Hot take: I don’t like the 18+ black box art, I think it is bland and boring and a huge step back from the cool designs they were doing for themed sets before
Hot take: 501st battlepack builds are terrible. People say that it is the best battlepack because of the figures. Lego made the builds oversized and charged 10$ more. Both at-rt and the speeder are impractical and they dont look good when you compare it to other battlepack bulds (in terms of the size). There are many battlepacks with 3 identical minifigs but they are not mentioned as much because they are not 501st clones
Hot take: UCS sets are usually ranked to high on ranking videos. I get that they look incredible but for Lego beeing mainly a toy and most sets are play sets, I think when making a ranking, than the play features and minifigures should equally count rather than just looks
Hot take: the resistance a-wing is the best play scale version of the a-wing. The overall size of the ship is great and I think the green looks really good on it.
2:51 the opened visor helmets were actually designed based off the animated clone war style this is why they aren't actually accurate to the rots clone style even if they represent these clones.
Hot takes :Lego should make a « duel » ucs set for 240 € or least with like the 2 phantoms or one with a chromed nano starfigther and a vulture droid with some stands . It should be better than a ucs tie interceptor
Hot take we need more unique Christmas figures in the advent calendar, we used to get a Santa version of figures before and they looked really cool but now it's all sweaters which is cool but have that as a secondary exclusive or something because its literally just a torso swap from another figure from the same year,
Hot take: People were overreacting about commander Cody and Jedi bob not being in the gunship, and that this argument overshadowed the fact that the gunship is one of the best UCS models. And that figures don’t always, have to be exclusive to be good figures.
Hot take: the original droideka (Jedi Defense) is the best one we ever got, and it didn’t need to evolve so many times. I get that updates are needed, but not a single one has the mobility and flexibility that this one has. Most of them come with completely fixed legs, and none are really accurate enough to make early inaccuracies matter.
Hot take: The stickered display plaques for the UCS sets are fine. I get that it's less frustrating for some to just have it printed instead of having to apply it manually, but I think the sticker makes it look smoother and overall better in a way.
@@legoliam596 Mate, it's a hot take, no need to agree with me. Lol But to elaborate some more reasons, the sticker gives it a nice border and the injection mold mark in the middle doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.
Hot Take: The 2007 MTT is overrated. Sure, it can hold a lot of battle droids, but it is such a blocky build and has grey bricks spread throughout. If the 2014 one was more rounded and fit more battle droids, it would easily surpass the old one. Not that the 2007 isn’t good, but it just gets too much hype.
Hot take: I think the coruscant guard gunship was ruined due to the cockpit design and colors, not due to the ball turrets and functionality. If all of the cockpit area was white, and it was a cleaner design, this set would be a 10/10. But as it stands, i'd give it a 5/10. The rest of the gunship looks amazing, but I cannot justify spending 140$ on a set I only want for the build and not the minifigures.
Hot take: in my opinion the V-19 torrent was one of my favorite star wars ships the republic used for two reasons,1 besides the A-wing starfighter being used for a good while the V-19 was basically the predecessor to the arc-170 starfighter which in my opinion symbolized the end of the clone wars and 2 if you look at it this way the Z-95 headhunter was basically the in-between period like when phase one went on to phase 2 thus the middle of the war so overall that's the reason i like the V-19 as it's basically the beginning of a trio of amazing ships before the famous X-wing starfighter
Hot Take: I really feel like people overreact about the Minifigure selection in Star Wars UCS sets, for example: The UCS Republic Gun Ship, this set got way to much hate for having a clone commander rather than a pilot. Though it would have been nice to have a pilot, the main purpose of buying a UCS set is for the build, and the one or two minifigures that come with it aren't the top priority. If you want a pilot so bad, than just order an older or custom one online, or custom make it yourself.
I really don’t like the comically large cloth pauldron juxtaposition with the barely noticeable printed waistcape… why can’t we have decent looking pauldrons
hot take : lego is steadily getting pricier for the average consumer but these last years i feel like every time i buy a lego set i get ripped off and they're not even trying to hide it: overpriced sets, false advertising, faulty pieces. like back when i was a kid i could look at a star wars set and guess the price pretty close to what it was but now my guesses are always 20 dollars less or half the price it actually is. i just dont feel like getting bang for my buck lately
I don't mind rex, I think it's not a bad figure but for a god damn UCS set I'd have thought that they would try harder like the tally markings and the welding marks and of course the standout lack of a waistcape
Hot take: the arm printing on the new ahsoka isn’t as great as everyone says. My main problem is the arm is orange and the printing doesn’t wrap all the way around the arm because that’s just not something lego does, which leads to this really weird orange gap with between the printing and the rest of the arm. This isn’t any reason not to get the ahsoka, and it’s still honestly a great figure but if the arm was navy blue and had a bit of orange printing at the top instead, it might’ve looked better.
Hot take: the best battle pack of all time is the shadow troopers battle pack , the minifigures are just unmatched compared to any others, the tint on the stormtroopers looks amazing and the shadow guards look better then the normal red ones.
Hot Take: I don't like the new venator i prefer the star destroyer (ps I would swap the venators supports with the star destroyer one they look way better)
Hot take: new printed cape isnt that bad becose lego is meant for play. Yes new Rex isnt that good but two extra dolars and you have best minifigure on planet
Hot take: i wouldnt even notice helmet holes and printed waist capes if youtubers didnt point it out, i feel like many people dont have their own opinions and just copypaste what content creators say
