Though I do think the 2008 battle packs are cool, build wise I think the 2024 blows out of the water. I agree with a lot of what’s in the video I feel like MandR should bring someone in who doesn’t have experience and wouldn’t feel nostalgia to give them more objective review. At the end of the day, it is his channel so he can do whatever he wants, but that would be my suggestion.
I like your ranking! It just shows what lego fans are feeling. The company just keeps releasing sets that test the fans' limit. The sets get way worse and way too expensive at the same time because lego knows that fans will buy everything. Its just sad imo
The fact that the storm trooper drop ship can only hold 2 troopers really sucks! They should have made it fit 4 Could you imagine if the US military had a helicopter to drop troops in, but only could fit 2 soldiers in (besides the pilot)
Ok so I completely understand how people think the new battle pack sucks and is too expensive… but I can’t lie out of all the builds the 2024 builds look soo much better.. like the design and overall shape are way cooler and better just my opinion
I think Lego "justifies" leaving out 2 mini figures in the 2024 set, is due to the QT-KT. Which doesn't make sense. Since that isn't even a full minifigure. At most, take out 1 minifigure. 2 is crazy.
I think it all depends on perspective. If you look at sets like the Republic Fighter Tank or Tie Fighter, it makes the 2024 set look like a great deal. But I see where your coming from Ryan.
I think $40 is reasonable for the new one but only having 7 figures when the thing is meant to draw nostalgia is very disappointing. Definitely a 9 figure count with builds to suffice the increase figures. Even at $50 wouldn’t be that bad. Especially when the builds have much more beef compared to typical BP builds.
Low key an all time Mandr vid! The current state of battle packs is sad to me because they are truly a set for all. One of my friends growing up didn’t have a lot of money, but his parents got him those two OG battle packs. Now the only sets under $20 are micro fighters. This set should’ve been 2 $20 BPs with 4 figs each and throw out the droid (put her in another set)
I personally feel like making it a two in one set defeated the purpose of the original battle packs being affordable. I thought the drop ship was so much cooler than the rebel ship, but now you have to pay double the price to get the update along with a set you might not necessarily want 😪
I knew this video was bound to come out eventually, Interesting to see how you have vastly different results in your comparison of these sets to my own comparison video. I too do have a lot of nostalgia towards those 2008 ones however I personally really do prefer the builds of the 2024 set and that is the bulk of what I'm paying for
I found some old battlepack boxes in my basement with price stickers on them, got the 7913 clone battle pack for 12 bucks and the death star troopers for 11.
Two more stormtrooper battle pack releases. The next holds one trooper in the rear and the pilot leaves him in the LZ. The last...the pilot has to fly his own ass to the LZ.
Overcomplicated designs which could’ve been achieved with way less parts. This is my big issue with modern lego the original system is falling apart due to smaller and smaller parts. The new troop transports has way more pieces and it’s still smaller then the original that had a sold 30 pieces.
I dont buy any lego unless its atleast 17-25% off. Just started a little while ago. But the prices are crazy. But if you wait for sales its actually not too bad imo
I'll probably pick up one of the new battle packs, as I'm working to increase the number of stormtroopers. However, the rebel gunship and rebels are of no real use for me.
I like the look of the front for the new dropship. If they could've added that to the back feature of the 2019 one the would've been the best. I think the cockpit on 2008 and 2019 look STUPID and clunky
The plain white hip pieces are not an improvement on any storm or clone trooper for that matter. The black hip piece works so much better if they aren’t going to print them.
The new one is far better. The builds matter to me and the new one is usable while the old ones are so basic that they cannot stand next to current SW ships.
Yeah the price is too much. I mostly don't keep the builds for the battlebacks. I collect just for the figures and leave the set unbuild and save the bricks for mocs I buy on rebricable.
To this day I never ever understood why LEGO used Stud Shooters as weaponry I guess that shows a in universe blaster but it's so bulky in my opinion they should've made new Weapon molds and added them to Clone Troopers then it would make sense but never ever Stormtroopers they are weaker than Clone Troopers but only the best is good enough *Forces a Smile and holding back tears*
I really think it should have been made simpler even just make it a redo almost and charge 30$ or give the two mini figs or even the shadow trooper for the 40$ or f they would have done that it would be a lot better
I do not see the hype at all for the new battle pack. over priced. half the figs are family guy stormtroopers. clunky dropship. mid 25th anniversary fig. no shadow trooper
I really like the design of the new ones but I agree the price is to much. I really wish that they could go on sale but if it's a Lego exclusive that won't happen
It's weird that the 25th anniversary set didn't come with a shadow trooper though I could have used it for one of my animations. | | | Whisper: I have a youtube channel with lego stop motion on a small budget. Like and subscribe.
Too expansive and not enough minis (unless you count a useless aniversary mini that should not be in a battle pack in the first place) and the forced diversity in them.
