I have both but the smaller of the two goes much better with C-3PO (75398) and I believe they are designed to go together. It now makes sense why Lego released this version as it had C-3PO in mind. It made me get this R2-D2 as well to go with C-3PO. Clever marketing Lego
I've watched a few of your March 1st reviews and I have to admit that this is probably your best one. It goes into a level of detail some of your others were missing and it helped to have the comparison to the other R2-D2 that is currently on shelves. Well done.
They could very easily do a whole line of just the prominent movie and show droids. I'd love to see BB8, DO, Chopper, C3PO, L337, and K2SO scaled properly together. It'd just be awesome to have a shelf of just them on display.

You should use soapy water or windex technique to place the stickers. No crooked stickers cause you can straighten them out before they dry. I use soapy water.
I'm glad the scale looks so good on R2 and Chewy. I'm hoping they continue making more figures at this scale. Personally, I don't have a problem with lots of R2, but I 💯agree with #justiceforlegochopper ! Chopper is a legend.
Tbh, I think this set is decently cool, I could see people buying a few of these to colour swap the blue with red, or green or maybe even pink if possible. This version of R2D2 actually opens these variations compared to the much bigger and expensive ones. Curious who starts first on doing this hahaha
Thanks a lot for the review. Chopper might be a great idea... but i'm really happy about this set; price and size-wise (and apparently sturdiness-wise given what you said), it's the perfect version for me.
R2 is a real movie star. He's got 9 movies under his belt, they're amongst the highest grossing films of all time. That's why he gets special treatment. Chopper is a TV show sidekick with little screen time. If he wants to be big like R2, and get his own set, he'll need a better agent and he'll need to put in some quality acting. Maybe he could work with Tarantino or Ridley Scott. Those two have really helped rehab some dying careers. Lets see what his next project is, maybe he'll get his breakthrough role. 🎬 🤖
To be honest, I would buy it only because of Darth Malak figure. About comparison, the only better thing is the non sticker plate. I prefer the bigger one, cuz it's more complicated.
Yeah, I'm a little curious about not having one. We got battle droids super early in SW LEGO, and then a buildable Chewie, but no Threepio? I feel like that's a big hole the catalog.
I really wish these extra figs weren’t only for anniversaries. Would be nice to get 1 per wave just to get obscure characters that can’t be made into sets for whatever reason
They put a highly desirable minifigure in their least desirable set. People will buy this set out of FOMO just for the minifig, and scalpers will buy and resell just the figure too. Scummy business practices Lego, I am very disappointed.
I will always be so happy at the fact that I got this for 45 bucks. No way it’s worth 100 at all. I can sell the R2 and basically cut even as if I got Malak for free. Or keep ‘em all. Guys check your locks nerd comic figure toy stores. They’re not too educated in Lego so they’ll just throw a price
Great review. I agree that the size is much better in this new one. I do like the 2019 one but I think the new one would be much better to display. I preordered mine so cannot wait to get it. Also, love your Chopper shirt! I would love for them to do a Chopper in this scale as well!!

Locking this super desirable fig in a $100 set just feels like a scummy way for them to "celebrate" 25 years with their fans. Seeing Animal Crossing with a minifig polybag March GWP for $50 spend just twists the knife... I have nothing against exclusivity, it just feels shady to me doing it this way. A chopper on the other hand would have been a day 1 buy... #JusticeForLegoChopper
I *think* the polybag will be available anywhere for the usual polybag price ($8? $10?) but yes. A desirable fig in a $100 set I would call a cash grab haha
@@jeansversion yep that's what I mean. Other themes get polybags with figs for sale but for whatever reason, LEGO stopped doing it. Probably just for cash grabs like this one.
I have the 2012 version but almost tempted to get this and sell the 2012 one. Anything to help save space for more lego - I’m bursting at the seams already!
As always a great review Jean💚, love the simplicity of the build with this R2-D2 compared with the previous builds. I have the 2012 release and really love it so won’t be getting this one. Not a big enough mini fig fan to worry about the exclusive Darth Malak. What ever comes with a set I buy is what it is. #JusticeForLegoChopper
I personally wouldn't exactly call it a cashgrab, but only because I don't really put any priority in minifigures, I'm more focused on the builds than anything. I see this as more of an affordable alternative to the UCS version of R2-D2; it's smaller yes, but it costs half as much. So if you wanted to buildable R2-D2 but didn't want to spend a bucketload on the UCS version, this is a good compromise. Although that said, it does feel a bit too soon to release another version, but more options are welcome. And being a lot more durable also helps.

A little constructive feedback. It’s OK to not fill every second with dialogue. Your reviews would be much improved with a more conversational pace - take a breath. The edits to remove any dialogue pauses make your otherwise excellently produced videos tough to listen to.
Maybe so, and just a tiny bit. But please don't use stock footage/clips in the hopes to make the videos more interesting. Maybe its just me but I can understand expensive without seeing a pile of cash.
