Will the UCS Republic Gunship be better than these three?

The 2013 model looks the best but the 2002 version completely out does it in terms of minifigures.

2008 is my favourite because it ACTUALLY CLOSES UP

I have the 2013 version and I have to say... That one is a flying bunker. I dropped it a few times per accident as a kid and the worst that happened was a door beeing knocked out and some front guns fell off, thats it... Whoever designed that one made it unbelievably strong against falling, which is great when you consider that children will play with that one... I miss the times when Lego actually took some time to think about playability instead of cash grabbing... If that set would have included more clone troopers then it might probably be near perfect.

I remember when my older brother did get the 2002 Set for Birthday. I instandly took the random Jedi, because my bro wasnt interested in this figure and green lightsabers were always my favourites. Then i gave him a story, as it was child fantasy he ended up beating Count Dooku and Darth Sidious XD

I think the 2008 version is the best, I really like how the doors close, and I’m a huge clone wars fan.

Gotta go with the 2008 model since my dad got me that set for christmas.

2002 has the best playability IMO just because it seperats into two parts, making it a more versatile play piece

The 2013 version is actually pretty stable but needed more Clones to man the cannons and second cockpit.

the 2008 one holds a special place in my heart as it's the one I had as a kid. also one thing it has over the other 2 is the bay doors, it actually features the front smaller door so they can fully close, and while having the ball turrets is nice, I don't really like the look of them on either of the lego gunships that feature them, as actually in the films and the episodes of the clone wars that feature them, the ball turrets are complete spheres and the pivot point is on the middle of the back, and on both of the lego LAATs that have the ball turrets, they are these weird looking half-spheres with the pivots on the bottom, that just bug me visually, so I'd rather just not have them. visually the 2013 one definitely takes the cake, except for those damn ball turrets which just irritate me, I think as a now adult that just likes to occasionally snag a cool set to build and stick up on a shelf to marvel at, I'd probably go digging around for a 2008 gunship, both for my own personal nostalgia to remind me of the Christmas morning when I was a child and I unwrapped, opened, and built that very set, also I like the art on the front of the ship, I know it's a sticker but it looks cool. the mid 2000's to early 2010's were probably the golden age of lego in my eyes, Bionicle was still around, there were a ton of cool star wars lego sets based on the clone wars, we had themes like Power Miners and Aqua Raiders, Ninjago was pretty cool when it first dropped. well yeah, tangent aside, 2008 is my pick because of nostalgia, and because of a couple small details that I really like despite it not being the most visually impressive of the 3 overall

Even though they're kinda inaccurate, the metallic blue Super Battle Droids will always be nostalgic to me.

I totally missed out on both the 2002 Gunship, because I was born that year, as well as the 2008 Gunship, because I wasn't fully invested in Star Wars yet. I was so close to getting the 2013 Gunship but my parents wouldn't let me due to the price at the time. But if the UCS Gunship lives up to my expectations, I might get it.

I had the 2008 set as a kid. I got it for christmas. It was my dream lego set. The funniest thing is that I never actually finished it because at 7 years old it was a bit beyond my skill level as a builder.

I love the 2013 version for the design and trooper space, but I wish it was a clone wars type gunship so that the doors close all the way. interestingly though the movie versions don't actually close the door all the way, which makes sense because its called the *low* *altitude* assault transport. :P

The nose art on the 7676 just really takes the cake for me, plus you can always brick link some extra bubble turrets if you really care that much.

2008 is the one I had as a kid, along with the dropship that carried a tank walker , and i had a slightly different walker that could also be carried by that second dropship. I grew up on the clone wars TV show so for me the designs of those ones plus the nostalgia makes the 2008 model my favourite

Little did anyone know 2013 was the last play scale gunship Lego would ever make…

The 2013 is by far the nicest and most refined of the three. As I recall It also had a decent enough Battlepack out that let you fill out the clones while it was on the shelves. The one thing that always confused me with the 2008 minifigs? It has the Clone Wars TV series Big Eyed Obi Wan... but the Asaj Ventris figure is her design from the Genedy Tartovsky animated shorts, with an entirely different art style. Similarly when did the clones start getting the distinct different colored markings? Such as Cody's Orange sleeves? I thought that wasn't until the CGI TV show?

I have all three and gotta say, I dont think any recreation of the laat gunship model can overwhelm 2008 model with the size, minifigures, and piece diversity...which makes it an immortal set. One of the best ever with the 2008 AT-TE

The 2008 is my favorite. The squished face minifigures are the best! I also love that we get two jedi and a sith! Also I prefer the design of the 2008 gunship

To me a perfect gunship would include Phase 2 Rex, Cody, Wolffe, Bly, Gree, clone pilot and 4-5 phase 2 clones. A speeder for them Weapon storage Handle to carry it Turrets And of course Jedi bob

I have the 2008 version back when it was released. Loved playing with it until years back in 2013, I was grabbing the gunship and the top half came off and landed into a bunch of pieces. Was pretty devastated since it took me a while to build. Hopefully someday I will be able to put it back together and see it back in her original beauty!

Something Lego never seems to get is that I never cared for having some bag guys for my gunship. I just need lots and lots of clones. Now the 2008 I think has an advantage in 2 areas: stuff, and doors. I love that you get the ability to fully close off the gunship rather than the other 2, and while it doesn't have the crazy opening up of 2002, it has so many things it can drop off to give you a nice operating base to play around with, with a speeder, command post, medbay, and probe droids. And of course 2013 is just the sexiest in every area but the doors because those mean a lot to me. Also 2008 has nostalgia factor because that's the one I had as a kid

All of these models are incredible! Can’t wait for the UCS one tho.

In terms of minifigures, I think the 2002 is best. In playability, I think the 2008 is best. In design, I don’t know which to pick.

The 2022 gunship (if the rumors are true) should close up like 2008s gunship, have the red phase 1 clone like in 2013, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a new Jedi Bob

Given the build quality of a lot of the older sets, the 2002 is pretty incredible. Especially the command center and drop ship features.

I like the 2013 one because it has more interesting clones, a pilot and a sergeant. Plus those battle droids.

Personally I just like the new one But i would not use padme ore the Jedi and I would buy as many clones as possible

Tbh, the 2013 is the best but I do have a soft spot for the 2008 model. Just looks so sleek and straight out of the Tv show.

Ryan I’m just going to let you know, Clones were able to sit inside the ball turrets inside the wings, In Attack Of the clones when the clones are picking up the Jedi, You can see clones in the turrets.

On the first model that is not a gunship dropship transformation. It is an escape mechanism. It is detailed in the lore and books that the entire upper portion will pull away as an escape pod

No phase 2 gunships yet just noticed that : /

There's actually a really good amount of room to modify the 2013 Gunship, as right behind the cockpit there's enough room to add in stuff, such as an Astronomech Droid slot. I went nuts with mine for adding stuff to it, and now it looks ultra beefy.

First Place 2013 has a Clone Pilot and Clone Captain, giving it the only pilot in the set, and an exclusive minifigure. Second Place 2008 has only one Clone trooper, making it the weakest. Okay, but Third Place. Named Heroes: 2013 has Jedi Knight Obi-wan Kenobi, Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padme Amidala, giving it all three of the Prequel Trilogy Power Trio. 2008 has Jedi General Obi-wan Kenobi, Jedi Master Plo Koon, and Clone Commander 2224 "Cody", giving it a solid character set and putting it in second. 2002 has no film or tv heroes (yet), putting it last (for now). Works on its own. And works for multiple copies of this set. First Place. Of course, just my opinion.

back in the day i got the 2008 gunship and built it in my living room. when i picked it up to take it back to my room the entire thing fell apart XD keep telling myself that one of these days i'll get around to rebuilding it

Another hot take. Piece count doesn’t matter. For what is essentially the same size as the newer two gunships, with the 2002 gunship you essentially get three sets in one, the gunship, and the dropship/command center

I modded my 1023 set, I took off the bubble side turrets and put them on the bottom on the wings, removed the missile launcher, and removed the two technic piecses in the main trooper bay.

Wait you can actually flick those things?? I always used to push those missiles. Wow my childhood could have been way more epic.

I love the fact we are getting a UCS gunship but I wish we could get a play scale one that would cost around $160-180, it would have 2 bubble turrets that could be replaced with the flood lights,and enough space to put the mini figs in, it, there would be 2 doors that can close all the way like in the 2008 gunship, and would come with a STAP speeder. it would include phase 2 Rex and Cody, Obi-wan and Anakin, 3 212 troops, 3 501st that would be fives, echo and Jesse, 2 clone pilots and 2 regular clones, 3-4 regular battle droids and 1-2 super battle droids. But you know that would never happen because it’s too good of a selection of mini figs

Through this entire video it just felt like you were hating on 2008 and just loving every part of 2013, it didn’t seem fair that you didn’t mention how the doors for 2008 were 4 panel all closable but mentioned every small detail on the 2013 like the colors and the handle.

2002 has the best minfigs with those 3 clone troopers, but 2013 has the best design. P.S. I do really like the 2008 gunship I just don’t think it very well designed because it’s not very stable and the minfigs are good but with out more clones it’s just kinda anyoing.

Personally, I feel as if they all basically have similar functionality but of course are more stable over the years and more sleek 😃👍

@MandRproductions Hey Ryan, it would be cool if you added a "Build" category to your set comparisons to discuss which set was the most enjoyable to build. Since LEGO is a building toy I think it would only be fair to consider which one you had the most enjoyment putting together
