Well, this is definitely quite interesting hub for compact builds with some potential in case if it's programmatically customizable. Yes, I'd like to see Pybricks on it. Controller is just a dream, don't tease me :) Subbed immediately

The fiber optics fit in the pin tight. Spinning the wheels always depends on the surface, it spins on a tile if you block the car, but not on the carpet :) I think the gear ratio is 1:1, but the hub is in the car so it's difficult to check at the moment.

Me too. I had those two models, and they are both fast. I think faster than the new ones. Also steering with physical pad was easier for me, than on the touch screen.

Highly doubt that, two batteries would make it run twice as long, but would be twice as heavy too Internal safety limits won't allow that much current imho

I'm sure they won't, besides that BuWizz makes a good revised version of the LEGO buggy motor already

Well, at least you can dream about it, I too would like to have it back but if LEGO retires something it is 99,999999999999999999999999% sure that it will NEVER come back.

You can always add gearing, but that will make the car wider.

Cool! What's your opinion on the audi? Inhave the pickup truck crawler and the kids have a blast with it. My eldest wants something faster and not sure if I should go for this for him or the audi?

And can you rebuild that RC car into something else using only the parts from the box? LEGO is not the same as an RC car, they have a completely different purpose and play experience. A reality check in this area can definitely be useful :)

@@RacingBrick I didn't want to compare the technology, just point out the insane pricing of LEGO. Essentially you pay ~120€ extra just for a bluetooth connected battery/motor/servo/lights box - given that the 800 parts Jesko set will cost is 52€, and the GT4 has ~850 parts. So for 170€ I can get the Jesko Technic set AND a full blown high quality RC car like the MJX that doesn't drive at speeds where a snail would overtake you... The small tracked RCs from LEGO from a few years ago where at least fun to drive and also much cheaper. The GT4 is just a shameless, ugly money grab from LEGO. You can get 4 (!) CaDa Z-Wind RC for the money, which even include a remote and also looks better imho.

So if we use the same wheel in both sets and make a comparison, yes the fastest set will be 42176.

But the Porsche doesn't have the buggy's wheels, so it clearly isn't the fastest SET. They didn't claim "you could build a faster car with the new hub" :)

There's only a single other RC car available currently, so making such a claim would be totally unreasonable.

@@RacingBrick I totally agree with you, it is a little bit too easy to claim. But that's the point: it is way simpler (for them) to prove a race car is faster than an off-road car, instead of a "really special conditions lab/battery/floor/weather/pilot/whatever test" (^^) in wich you showed us that the truth is pretty much the other way around... (I mean, you obviously showed us that the buggy is a bit faster than the porsche). I'm currious to see how they could prove the contrary... Will they prove it to be faster by 0.0001km/h in certain special conditions that a standard customer can't reach?... Not very glorious to my eyes... The only possibility I could imagine is that the software version you used don't push motors at 100% power (why?), not a clever move from TLG knowing that everyone will want to check the claim on the box... I am pretty sure the claim stands for main/standard consumers: a granny (knowing nothing about LEGO) looking for a toy for her grand-child (himself knowing nothing about previous sets in the line). The claim don't stands for AFOL/LEGO-specialists like us... I am sure you will provide us updates. Can't wait to see ^^
